i built a 230v 6fraud mini taser, i keep it handy
it wont kill people or even stun them, but it delivers one heck of a jolt like having a nice rusty nail driven into you at the target location.. failing that i could detach my chin bar from my door-frame, throw 5 kilo weights at said attacker or stab them in the eye with a soldering iron, heck i even have some bugspray, i could rig it to flame-throw or just make them breathe in the poison and choke on it.. i'm probably not an ideal target to attack now i come to think of it!

and if i want to hide from something, i can climb inside the unused fireplace behind my wardrobe

I'd imagine after getting a bolt in the chest any robber would probably only be able to look at me in bewilderment and say; "Why?" before falling over and going into shock whilst I glaze them with my torch.

I have a two handed broad sword, a tachi style katana, a bow and some arrows and a wooden base ball bat (pure class) all withing grabbing distance plus the entrance way to my room is a bit of a choke point so one me could easily hold off an army of Persians... SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this room I have a knife laying on the table. If I had a little time I could go into the next room and fish out a sword from a box there, if I had a minute to do so. I also have a set of golf clubs in the hallway, but my place isn't big enough to swing them around. They would be nifty if I could get outside to defend myself though. In the kitchen, which would take me less than 5 seconds to get, is a relatively big, sharp, serrated knife (also known as a sharp bread knife). The serrations on that knife are big, I really wouldn't want to get cut with that thing.

Well, I can't remember, do I still have the knife? *checks* yes. Yes I do. So I'll use the large stick to beat them, and if they get close, I stab or slash 'em with the knife.
This is one of those things that I have prepared for.
Though, if I had some duct tape, I could slash at them from a distance. Hmmm...
