Of course it is, but Valve actually understand what a powerful tool PR is.
So many other companies just decry their fans and get the slobbering mouth-breathers instead.
Valve are still a company after the bottom line, but they understand that a little spare change leads to a greater spend back in; rather than "NO NO IT'S ALL MINE!" - like most of the others.
That's why Valve's leading DD at the moment, people don't mind Steam being a DLC because the DLC mostly harms pirates rather than paying customers.
Ubisoft, EA, Acti-Blizzard, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, BT, McDonalds, Starbucks could learn so much from these guys.
