A quote from the idiots blog: "I don't have a problem blasting Nazis in "Call of Duty" and "Medal of Honor." I don't have a problem lighting up Imperial Army soldiers with my flamethrower in "World at War." But I do have a problem blasting soldiers in our country's Civil War."

Right, this bit alone made me facepalm. He doesn't mind playing a game about the most horrific war ever, yet he does mind playing a game that, while based in the civil war, ISN'T TRUE! What the hell is this guy smoking? And also, in CoD 5 multiplayer, you play as the Axis forces too, killing americans, just like you do in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. He's a hypocritical fool who has the common sense and IQ of a brick.

I applaud VALVe for sticking to their convictions and keeping a mixed race set of zombies, being someone who feels that will make the game more immersive and a better, more real experience.
I don't really see how Valve refusing to cave in to one random douchebag that nobody is going to take seriously is worth "applauding." It's just what anyone with a tenth of their brain still intact would do. Now if they had replied by saying something like, "You sir clearly have no idea what you just said and how utterly moronic it sounds. You are running the risk of destroying not only any journalistic integrity YOU may have ever had, but that of your entire newspaper. You should be severely ashamed for spewing this pile of bullshit onto the website of what I hope is an otherwise decent newspaper." ... THAT would be worth a standing ovation.

Maybe every game should have a NOT RACIST disclaimer whenever they put non-white people in it.

OT: That's stupid. It's not racist. It's called a setting.

But in all honesty I can't see any other company standing up to this from fear of a splur on their reputation.

It's utter stupidity someone would find left 4 dead 2 racist. What would the person have wanted all white male zombies with blond hair business suits and perfect white teeth instead of a plethora of races like the world is? And this may be a little off topic but i though the person would comment on the louis' Pills here! and Grabbin' pills! as racism and that is not racist either because i would do the same thing i mean who doesn't need the comfort of pills flammable liquid or bandages in a zombie apocalypse?

Racist? No.

Call of Juarez has essentially real historical basis. If they, for instance, gave you a native american sidekick it would have been exceptionally retarded because that sort of thing didn't really happen in real life. The game is somewhat accurate in its portrayal (bullet absorbing cowboys aside).

Resident Evil 5 was just completely retarded. The game wasn't very good, the story was worse and the supposed racism was just overlooked stupidity.

L4D is a zombie game where you and several people fight off all of plagued humanity... Where is the racist inclination? Black characters? Saying black things? Give me a break... Are they supposed to say white things? Mexican things?

There isn't racism, theres just poor design decisions compiled with whining mothers and politicians.

I believe Willie Jefferson needs to have a "racist" shotgun shoved up his arse.

Once again another person claiming to have seen racism where there is none! Its people like him (and ACTUAL Racists) that are re-enforcing the divisions in society.

In short, This has REALLY annoyed me.

meh,I see no racism.unlike RE5,they are just mixing races for a more realistic zombie based experience, they can't help it it's set in new orleans.
How was RE5 not like what you described? If the setting is Africa wouldn't you be shooting Africans?

OT: This is stupid, I don't get how it can be called rasist.
hte racism was not in killing africans,it was how they depivted them as a bunch of crazy tribal nuts living in straw with bones through their noses and everything, they have advanced past the witch docter phase, the game re5 was called racist for how they made the africans look, not for killing them.
I'm sorry but did you play the game at all or did you just see the tribes men and just get pissed and turn it off?

1. There were many people that looked like a normal people with a parasite that made them revert to their primal instincts.

2. If you read a journal a little while after you see the tribals it explains that when they were put in contact with the parasite they were doing a ceremony where they dressed like their ancestors.

3. African tribes still dress like that in north Africa.

4. Why don't you mention the sexism? Again if you read about the Las Plaugas the later forms of the strain killed all the female hosts, which hints that the males are genetically superior.

5. If you really wanted to nit-pick why not mention the animal cruelty? How the fact that you could kill chickens that don't even attack you unless you try and attack them. (PETA's battle cry is heard)

In conclusion you probably just played the game on easy as fast as possible and didn't really catch the underlying story. Please be educated about a subject before you accuse it of being rasist, it's a very touchy subject you know.

is this the kind of person who thinks kill white people in games is fine, but you so much as hurt a non existent, computer generated hair on any other races' skull, and it is instantly a hate crime? cus those people piss me off more then racist people who beat the ethnic groups they hate, because at least they can go to jail for there racism, unlike this self-rightous son of a *****.

Remind me to never talk to you again because you obviously are too touchy about having a debate, especially if you lose. Also I'm kinda pissed that I thought up all those points and you didn't say anything about them.

RE5 is not racist...it's SEXIST, that female sidekick wearing the thong did not ring ANY ALARMS??! How do you get away with insulting half the world population? Distraction with racist debates perhaps? I see a lot of crap games with big-titted assistants and frankly I'm tired of it.

Maybe female gamers are waiting for gamer feminists. -_-

Now, you want racist...the King Kong movies are racist, go watch that black-males(jungle monkeys)-go-rabid-for-white-woman(delicate purity)-ugghaa ugghha propaganda and then you will know what racism is. See also, "Birth of a Nation".

L4D2 not racist.(Will L4D3 be in Asia and not have Asians??)

Confederate flag, racist. Just like the ancient, African(...the irony does not escape me) swastika symbol stands for rebirth, but now stands for ethnic genocide. Deal with it.

Unless all Confederate flag owners are out there making skin-to-skin contact with black people at integrated block parties, it will remain a symbol of resurgent retard hate. Send me a pic if you have it.(you can edit out the wincing)

Really, that dumb critic is putting civil rights backwards as hard as he can. Political correctness is really getting on my nerves. How come African-American is filed constantly? But not Caucasian-American? That's sounds like profiling to me, but everyone tolerates it saying it's working out for the interest of the minority group.

Well, since slavery ended, American has had it's nice labels, but less FREE "African-Americans". Used to be the majority of the population, and I don't think they are being shipped back to Africa with reparation money either...
Next target is "Hispanic-Americans". Then Asian-Americans, then Hawaiian-Americans...
That's some pretty "racist" stuff to miss while debating ANYTHING racial.

And yes, I'm an authority on this subject as I'm a young, intelligent, black male.(added here to 'colour' your opinions of my post, hopefully in the logical direction).

So what these people are saying is that only african-american people live in New Orleans?

Isn't that in itself just a scootch racist?

This person didn't have a foot to stand on in this argument from the moment they started typing, clearly.
I don't recall anyone saying only black people live in New Orleans, only that it has a high number of them relativity to the average in the US. Which, as far as I'm aware, is factually correct.
I know they didn't say it, but in order to make a claim of racism that has some genuine ground to it, that's what it'd have to be, was what I was meant to be getting at.
(I'm not exactly the most competent writer.)

Although saying that I'm a firm believer in the idea that if you kill a black person you're killing a person, not a minority.

"All our hearts beat the same under our skin, whatever colour it is" and all that...

Oh right - sorry, I misread you meaning and it read like you where accusing Valve/the forum goers here of being alittle racist too.

And I agree with you, with the possible expection of a game where the primary good is to kill off minitory X - i.e. A game with title like 'Ayran Purity 4: This time its darkie's turn!'

Some people really need to extract their feet from their mouths, apologize, and actually do something that warrants them using all the oxygen on this world. Seriously, Valve are racist? All they've done is their best to accurately mirror the population in New Orleans. That makes them some type of race-hate mongers?

Can we please put a brake on the idiot bus? When I deal with people, that's what they are to me--people. Their ethnicity doesn't factor in how I treat anyone. I'm disabled and am so amazed when I see Grey Suits [my name for them, insert preferred term here] telling others how they can or cannot treat me, or what they can say to or call me. I feel so embarrassed. I'm a guy, jackass. End of story.

Now if I can get fed up with [note, I don't say offended. sticks and stones, man] such behaviour, then how p*ssed off must non-whites feel when someone writes this kind of nonentity article?

Pieces like this are what are destroying cohesion between the races.

Bon

P.S. The Confederate flag is an icon of hate? Stop the chugging Sudafed and NyQuil, please.
