Valve slaps L4D players in the face with new DLC

Well I, for one, am immensly dissapointed with Left 4 Dead, but must admit that free content is free content.
I don't know if this DLC is on the 360 yet, but considering how long it takes Valve to make 5-6 hours of Half-Life, probably not. I would take this new DLC for free, and L4D is supposed to get a new map pack in a few years. I'm not paying money for that unless the players(The Escapist, of course) say it fixes the game, but any free content is good content.

Not that I'm gunna read it much, but what is this blog you people are talking about?

Funny, tey even said in the interviews in the game that there would be one unique map for survival, then 15 survival areas edited from the campaign. Sure they said 16 new levels both before and after they clarified, but they weren't lying to you. I think they should have said that on their site rather than just in the interviews and articles on it I read, but tere isn't much to do now.

Plus, It is free. If you had paid money for it it then I would also believe it was a rip off (granted I believe so of EVERY dlc, as I have yet to see one give more content than what you could get for free with mods)

At least it wasn't like the Halo map packs. You pay ten dollars for three unintuitive and boring maps.

Even the upcoming Mystic Map Pack.

Halo isnt even a game anymore, its a money sink for microsoft to steal money from you

The L4D update should be out for the 360. The TF2 updates require achievements, so they cannot give it away for free on the 360. Supposedly it will come out as a one time dlc once all the classes are updated. supposedly

*buzzer noise* WRONG! Valve clearly stated in the release for the Survival Mode DLC that the Light house map was the only "new" map that would be released while the other ones for the game mode would be modified versions of the "Finale" and "Crescendo" events in the current four campaigns.

Next time you go "flying off the handle", it would help to know what your talking about.

Actually on the TF2 site, they said that TF2 already pushes the memory limits of the 360. They have been busy finding tricks to reduce the memory it uses.

Today when i opened steam I started Left 4 Dead and noticed a patch. Excited I checked the update news and noticed that the new Survival Pack was out. Needless to say I was overjoyed, having purchased the game on the day of its release and patiently grinding the same 4 missions over and over and over again waiting for the new content Valve has promised us since the beginning. I was ready for more maps and the patch notes said it would deliver. 16 new maps! it claimed and I almost did a back flip. Who could have hoped! Of course when I logged in I found that the 16 "new maps" were chopped down versions of the old ones for Versus and the new Survival Mode. DECEIVED! LIED TO! They promised more maps and the only new scenery comes from the ONE map you can ONLY play on survival mode! I was enraged further to find that the SDK is not yet available either. I feel like all the patience I and the other faithful Left 4 Dead players has been rewarded with a dismissive gesture from Valve. I understand that making new content is difficult and I'm sure Survival Mode will bring us plenty of hours of gameplay. I simply think its a crime to advertise 16 new maps when in reality we get hardly anything map wise.

It's an entire new mode; I'm pretty sure they never said the word "new." They said -- In the blog -- that it would be 15 reused and slightly modified maps and one new one. Also, aw, boo-hoo, Valve gave you new content, but its not brand spanking new.

First of all, it's Valve. You honestly didn't expect a lot of content in a mere 6 months of development, did you?

Secondly, just because they're new versions of old maps doesn't make them any less fun. Plus, it's free.

Thirdly, hopefully the long wait and lack of new maps means they're devoting resources to the ever-late Episode Three.

Survial mode isn't even that fun. It's more of a punishment than an actual game mode.
