It really is funny to see how many people get all hot and uppity over something like this. That's right flash those internet fangs. Gratz to the guy who can actually spot a troll post.
Its amusing to see how many people pay attention.

Somebody complains about valve releasing free stuff, and all the valve fans go into a blinding rage, even if it was a troll.

Still wtb new maps.

It's really dumb to tell someone they can't complain about something that's free. But something that's obviously good, and better than most of the things in the same category that you have to pay for does not merit complaints, and I don't see how anything can be a slap in the face.

Something can never live up to your expectations if you intentionally raise them with things you make up.

Survial mode isn't even that fun. It's more of a punishment than an actual game mode.
Survival mode is for those masochists like me who enjoy games that either don't guarantee victory or even don't allow it. That's why I like to play PnP RPGs (where the expectation that victory should be inevitable is less widespread, but still around) and it's why Survival Mode sounds great.
Survival mode appeals to those who love impossible odds, or want a more "hold out against the undead tide" feel that zombie movies often do. I and all my friends will love it like a baby loves its mother, since we all play the hold-out final stages more often than the whole campaigns anyway. It's cool if you don't like the game, but you should understand that Survival mode is only a punishment to you because your view of gaming - victory should always be possible - isn't the only one, and is in fact alien to a group that prizes bloody last stands over cakewalks.
(Man that sounded much more patronising than it was meant to. What I meant to say is your tastes are your own, but Survival is clearly made for a different type of gamer - one who'd love to die on a mound of his slain foes.)

Damn them for giving you something free. They should be ashamed.

DECEIVED! LIED TO!
*buzzer noise* WRONG! Valve clearly stated in the release for the Survival Mode DLC that the Light house map was the only "new" map that would be released while the other ones for the game mode would be modified versions of the "Finale" and "Crescendo" events in the current four campaigns.

Next time you go "flying off the handle", it would help to know what your talking about.
They did indeed! You have no one else to blame but yoursef for not reading the WHOLE Press Release and not just the headlines.

I complain about one thing and one thing only......

No more melee spamming.

Also, not enough nudity.

I am very excited about the DLC, just about to have a go at it with my WoW guild as soon as this raid is over, very sick of running versus on the 2 maps they have at the moment and more than happy to take free stuff when given.

Thanks Valve!

Have you not been paying attention? Most people already knew exactly what was going to be in the update for a month or so now. We were explicitly told that the update would include: 2 Versus Maps, 1 new map (Lighthouse), and Survival mode which includes a number of crescendo moments in the other four maps.

Supposedly they're coming out just after the sniper pack is released, it will have all the content PC users have had so far. THen they'll release another giant patch when either the rest of the classes have had there updates, or part way through...
yeah but does anyone actually play tf2 on xbox live?

Maybe I should change what I said cause I'm getting tired of justifying myself but I like a decient challenge to. Survior mode is just too unforgiving for me and about 24 other players that I played with that day. None of us could get past the 3 minute mark and they'll only give you a bronze medal if you hold out for 4 minutes.

So you're whining that valve didn't give you enough in their free patch? Here's the funny part, if valve didn't release anything you wouldn't be complaining, I mean this is something valve should be praised for, not shunned.

dude find sum better friends. me and my friend played yesterday with 2 random people and made it to 5 minutes on our second try and the world leaderboards are over 100 minutes in some levels. it might not be for everybody but some people like the challenge.

How dare they provide you with free content!

At least you can play the damn game.
Actually, valve always does that for their games. TF2 has had about 20-30 updates after its release.

Zombie nudity?
Random Story: One time a friend got a shot on one of the "Hosital Gown Infected" that sent him across the map into me. I was busy sniping with a hunting rifle, and suddenly my scope was filled with bare ass. I was less than pleased, and had nightmares for a week.

On a more relevant note, my only grievance with this thread is that nobody really noticed that the OP's only posts on the entire forum were to start this thread, then giggle to himself when ppl defended Valve. I like valve a lot, but they're a big company, and wear big-boy pants. They don't need my defending.

Survival mode is the shizzy, I laughed my first time playing Last Stand on Lighthouse, and the poster said "It won't end well..." A tank came out and slapped me silly off the lighthouse. If it hit me a bit harder, I could've made it to the opposite coastline.

Exactly! For shit sake, you just can't please anyone.
New Versus maps, the killer survival mode, and I'm pretty sure a new difficulty (From what I hear), and it's FREE and people still *****.

Man, just enjoy the game. Valve doesn't owe you a thing.

true, but what if you have a slow internet, like my dial-up speed internet?

Sure its free, but is it worth waiting days for the download to finish?
And since its downloading it will take up all the bandwith and I wouldn't be able to use the internet.

So I ask, would it be worth it?

Thats your problem for not getting a proper internet connection...

Not if the free content is worth it...

I don't think we have the right to complain about something we got given for free.

At least they made an effort to give us something.

Better than nothing.

At least it wasn't like the Halo map packs. You pay ten dollars for three unintuitive and boring maps.

Even the upcoming Mystic Map Pack.
No kidding man, I want my 8 bucks back for the latest one. A bunch of Halo 2 maps that are just more corridor levels? Great, thanks a ton Bungie. God knows when I play Construct I always think, "Man, if only there was another level like this but with even more camping."
