Valve slaps L4D players in the face with new DLC

Today when i opened steam I started Left 4 Dead and noticed a patch. Excited I checked the update news and noticed that the new Survival Pack was out. Needless to say I was overjoyed, having purchased the game on the day of its release and patiently grinding the same 4 missions over and over and over again waiting for the new content Valve has promised us since the beginning. I was ready for more maps and the patch notes said it would deliver. 16 new maps! it claimed and I almost did a back flip. Who could have hoped! Of course when I logged in I found that the 16 "new maps" were chopped down versions of the old ones for Versus and the new Survival Mode. DECEIVED! LIED TO! They promised more maps and the only new scenery comes from the ONE map you can ONLY play on survival mode! I was enraged further to find that the SDK is not yet available either. I feel like all the patience I and the other faithful Left 4 Dead players has been rewarded with a dismissive gesture from Valve. I understand that making new content is difficult and I'm sure Survival Mode will bring us plenty of hours of gameplay. I simply think its a crime to advertise 16 new maps when in reality we get hardly anything map wise.

It is free content. If you did not pay for it than why complain about it? If you don't like the modes than don't play them.

I know, and it's on the fucking 360. Free DLC on the 360?! It's unheard of.

Anyway, I've had very little chance to play, but I've enjoyed what I have. Dead Air on versus is a blast, though the zombies do seem to have an unfair advantage at times with all the open roof tops, especially when the tank turns up.

Of the survival modes I've only played the Light House, and fuck me is it hard. I've got something like 3 minites so far, thats it! It will take awhile to form decent strategies for this one, maybe I'll get a better time with the events I know already.

Survial mode isn't even that fun. It's more of a punishment than an actual game mode.

ok ok don't snap at me I played it on all the maps to see if I could do any better to give it a fair chance but it's still a punishment. The worst idea since the Gears of War 2 smoke grenade concussion blast.

.....who the fuck said they would have 16 maps? That's stupid. Maybe for SURVIVAL MODE with if you did your research is a one room defensive mode.

blame M$ wanting to charge for each update.

tf2 updates will come to xbox 360 eventually but by then it will be too late.

Well I think the four l4d campaigns are always fun, and I've probably done them all a dozen times so there's no problems for me about only getting 16 new maps which aren't really new. It's a great game as it was, and any addition will be better.

I think the DLC's gonna be good, it's what I expected: the last 2 campaigns in versus mode and a little something extra. Not exactly a slap in the face.

Supposedly they're coming out just after the sniper pack is released, it will have all the content PC users have had so far. THen they'll release another giant patch when either the rest of the classes have had there updates, or part way through...

You know, I'm stoked, I get free content for a game I paid what $20 for (one of those special deals they had on steam)?

So I might not dig into survival mode for awhile, oh well. .. no big deal as the pack was free.

We'll get new campaigns, maybe even some new weapons. I'd love to see like, a flame thrower, a magnum, etc.

Thirdly, hopefully the long wait and lack of new maps means they're devoting resources to the ever-late Episode Three.

Maybe it's just me but I would rather see new stuff for L4D. I like the stuff they came out with and would like to see more from them.


I also like Half-life but not as much as left 4 dead.
