Thirdly, am I a psychopath for eating pig? No
No you're not, unless the pig is alive. Psychopaths do not have emotions and therefore it would be just as easy to them to write a poem or gut someone with a salad fork.

Bram Stocker did not create vampire as a creature, but he created the most appealing and "perfect" version of them. The most interesting aspect of them is the lack of emotions and as such they are not bound by any real morals or ethics. They do as they please and care nothing about the misery they cause to others. Actually that's something that makes vampires different from every other creature and bad guy ever created. They do not kill for power, for survival or some bigger goal or purpose. They just like to feed from humans. Dracula himself had the lost love thing happening, but othervice the Vampire as a creature kicked ass in Brams story.

For one they need to catch fire when exposed to sunlight and should have a need to feed. Also try not to make them twinkle or bore the hell out of a viewer to the point where he falls asleep during the movie.

I have to wonder... sunlight kills vampires, right? So doesn't that make moonlight deadly as well?
Yep, thats why vampires don't actually excist. They became exstinct a long time ago.

My thoughts of a vampire
1) NOT SPARKLING!!!!!

They are like psychopaths with tendency to the dark arts and cannibalism.

Add no. 1 and take away the rest and you got a motherf*ng emo rocker who likes raw meat.

Bram stocker got it right and since he made the original creature, i think it should be honored atleast to an extend!
He did not make the original creature. Vampires have been around in eastern-european folklore for ages. Stoker merely created Dracula as a fictional vampire. And he existed anyway (but very unlike Stoker's)

Warning: Literary fag stuff ahead.
Vampires come from all over the world and, like the flood, every culture has its own version. But in general, vampires are the oppisite of you and me: we're alive, they're dead. They die in sunlight only because the sun is the typical symbol for the Christian God, and vampires are beyond salvation. Thats why European vampires are hurt by garlic (used in cerimonies and has cleansing properties), holy water (blessed by a priest) and silver crosses (another god symbol.)

I've been watching True Blood thanks to my roommate and I like what they did with it. All of the vampire hype lately seems like a few too many people with enough money to product books/comics/movies/shows went through some Vampire: The Masquerade rulebooks and picked out what they wanted and said, "THIS is what vampires are, goddammit!" All kind of silly if you ask me, but makes for some fun storytelling.

And since someone mentioned Vampire Hunter D, has anyone read the novels? They're lovely.

Like the scene from blade where a vampire orders pizza, only to munch on the delivery boy... now that's a vampire...

I thought the vampires in 30 Days of Night were perfect. Intelligent yet brutal vampires that move in packs, in a place where the sun never shines.

Vampires should be like folklore: savage, dirty, barbed tongue, active from noon till midnight, and after a few years turn back into a human.

a vampire is someone with a mental sickness that has the pigment in their skin go really white! Then the sickness effects their brain. So they now have thoughts of consuming human blood. But they die just as easily with a bullet to the heart, lung, or brian.

little more on topic-Paul Askonas..... just ask him

Vampires are a woman's wet dream. I mean come on, they're pinnacle of the bad boy (prince of darkness and kills people to sustain itself) whose ways they are trying to change. The vampire somehow falls desperately in love with some girl, who they can't resist, despite themselves being men with dark powers to attract any woman without even trying (in addition to being perfectly formed), and undergo constant temptation and struggle in not trying to drink her blood. Women want a 'high quality' man with status, power, and will do anything for them- and that's the damned vampire. Seriously, I can't stand vampires. It's just so unrealistic.

I like the way they're portrayed in the Vampire: The Masquerade games (Based of a pen and paper game with the same name, from what I know), for some reason.
Some are living in harmony with humans (night-time, obviously), while others have no regard for humanity. Divided into clans, each with its own strength and weaknesses.

Their traits: Paler than humans, are clinically dead, got a body that can take a beating, regeneration, sharper senses. They're monsters, yes, but not all are downright terrible, despite being a monster.

Their weaknesses (as explained by "Jack" in Bloodlines):
"Forget that comic book crap, kid. Garlic, useless. A cross, shove it up their asses. A stake, only if it catches you in your heart, and even then it just paralyzes you. Running water, I bathe... occasionally. Now, a shotgun blast to the head, that's trouble, kid. Fire, that's real trouble. Sunlight, catch one sunrise and it's all over, kiddo."

Works for me, as long as it keeps away from Twilight's "Sparkhulz Vampire"
