GLaDOS.
Oh, come now, she's adorable. I never wanted to become her enemy, I want to give her a hug and say I'll help her with her plans, I'm on her side. And I seriously am o-o

My second choice, Professor Layton! 8D

Aeris Gainesborough, FFVII.

Yup, I'm a walking cliche.
haha, this made me laugh instantly. i know exactly what you mean, i think everyone who played FF VII teared up at that moment :p
I played FF7 for about two or three hours. If I had bothered to play all the way through the game, I would have seen that moment and laughed in a villainous, triumphant way. But then again, I'm a complete bastard, so feel free to ignore me.

Back on topic, and on the subject of female characters, Yukari Takeba, also from Persona 3. God, I love that game.

I'm the kind of crazy person who can make emotional attachments to many games, specifically the cast of chrono trigger, everyone from phoenix wright, and many others. also, i can't help but insert everyone i know into some games, or compare them to the actualy cast of games.

Link, but only the Link from Twilight Princess, mainly because he didn't scream annoyingly high-pitched whenever he waved a sword around... HYAAAAAAAAH.

Seriously though, I loved his development, even though he was mute. A quiet farm boy who is pulled into this battle against a terrible power, thrust into a world he knows nothing about, tranformed horribly, not knowing if he will ever become his true self again, his relationship with Ilia... Yeah, it was amazing.

And yeah, Valve are incredible with characters, especially in Half Life.

I find I relate and care about the survivors from L4D 1 and 2 (and that includes Rochelle, she's awesome)
Bioware did well with a lot of their characters, all the party members from ME 1 and 2 besides Zaeed and Kaiden were very likable (Joker also fucking rocks)
Also, your dad from Fallout 3. Mostly from Liam Neeson's soft velvety voice that pleaures your eardrums like a thousand concubines but also because the game does a very good job of making him feel like your dad rather than NPC #12940

Pretty much the whole cast of Persona 3, some more than others. Just so well written and engaging, still one of the best games I have ever played. And if it counts, won't spoil the end but that had me in tears. I think people who played it now what i mean.

I felt a Strong Emotional Connection With John Marston From Red dead Redemption, because played as him through the highs and lows of His Life and somehow you can relate to his character.

Commander Shephard from Mass effect. Why? Because in a way, you are him/her and while he/she does not represent the "Real" you, Shephard does well to give the player the connection from the real world to game world, but that wouldn't be real human interaction now would it?

Bioshock, never before had i felt so betrayed and used in a game.
Oh man, I envy you, I saw that coming a mile off. I knew he was suspiciously helpful at any rate. My girlfriend loves him though, and I know she's going to be crushed when she finds out that ol' twist.
Is it bad that I really wanna see her reaction? *evil grin*

Ot: Solid snake and Big Boss are both fantastic characters, both heroes who become vigilantes, and it's done incredibly well. Considering how overblown a lot of the rest of the games are, the character development is surprisingly subtle and satisfying, and I really like both those guys.
Also Alyx Vance, Aggro from Shadow of the Colossus.
That's all I can think of right now...

For some reason, I find myself caring for Gunther Hermann from Deus Ex.

He's a first generation immigrant, rarely gets taken seriously, his mech-enhanced body is in constant need of a tune up, nano-tech is obsolete. At this point, he's just a grumpy old man who feels like yesterday's news and is in need of a friend. But when that friend gets killed by the "Hero" protagonist - he finally goes nuts.

Poor old Gunther had himself a bit of a crap time in America.

annnd, Strangely enough, I really like Glados, even if she was lying about the cake.

Dogmeat. I flip shit if Dogmeat gets killed!
I never really got the chance to "bond" with Dogmeat. I found him then started to head to Tenpenny Tower. I was pretty low level and I met a yuo-gai on the way....let's just say dogmeat didn't survive that....I didn't bother loading back either, I felt like he was a but useless
compared to Fawkes and stuff

My dad in Fallout 3. I mean, c'mon. He's Liam Neeson. I waited until the very end to do the main quest because I knew what was going to happen :(

Samus Aran. The most well developed Nintendo Character yet. To me she is just a brilliant character, despite the fact she didn't speak until Fusion. She has a great backstory, with Ridley killing her parents, and then Samus being raised and altered by the Chozo to be a warrior. And people say there are no strong female leads.

After that well, people are going to think this is Bull, but I really like Galen Marek (Force Unleased). I thought he was very well acted and the player followed him on a journey as he dicovered the light side of the force, while sruggling with his past.
