For me, the Prince from the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is absolutely gorgeous. I could look at that all day (in fact, I do; he is on a poster on my wall).

Also Nihlus from Mass Effect.

And to an extent, Lucien Lachance from Oblivion, though that IS mostly his voice.

EDIT: Spelling.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it provided that you grow out of it at some point.
I had a small crush on Link from Ocarina of Time while I was playing through it for the first time. Even though he's still my favourite video game character I don't have the crush anymore.

You have to be careful with this stuff, otherwise you end up like the girls (and boys) on Deviant Art who draw fanfictions that belong in the deepest, darkest, depths of hell.

Oh I also felt something weird when I first played Sonic 3 (I was 10 or 11). Yes I actually felt connected with Sonic the Hedgehog.

I'm very glad I don't now. (search for Sonic & Shadow on Deviant Art, I dare you).

I agree with elephantguts. JRPGs get kinda wierd when you meet the 18-year long haired boy wearing a bikini talks to you. American games might be more stereotypical, but atleast you know you might not accidently date a gay dude.

Yeah, I guess I've fallen for several characters, but usually because of how well the dialog with them is or how deeply they're presented.(like Kaidan from Mass Effect) Or if it's someone like Gordon Freeman, I'm just nuts about them because of how cool they are. So I don't think it's wrong to "fall in love" with a video game character.

Unless you start having sex with the game disk, then you got some seriously fucked up problems.

lol ya. This topic was mainly just a way for me to see how many people appreciate good characterization in games. Sometimes they are completely believable and you feel like you know them better than characters in like good novels or movies. That is maybe one of the msot important things in games for me.

The one and only character I've really felt like I've truly connected with has been Commander Shepard in Mass Effect. The way that story played out coupled with the fantastic voice acting made it one of the very best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Not love or a crush, but I remember thinking that Selphie from FF8 would be my best friend for life if she were real.
