How can you hate Gordon? He has no identity, people just like him because he symbolizes a great game series. The Night Shade said:Gordon Freeman and Master Chief why? are they so famous WHY??????
Fair enough, I liked all the ME2 chrachters, even miranda when she wasnt being a *****, I think because I wouldnt want every charachter to be shepard fanboys (imagine a whole crew of conrad verners....that would be funny)mynameisphil said:I'm currently in my second play through and still have absolutely no attachment to Jacob. The only reason I'm going to do his loyalty mission is because it's fun and I think it's great to make his dad commit suicide. Don't judge me, it's a video game. he's not real. I just hate the fact that every time you bring a new team member onto the Normandy Jacob decides that you need his advice on whether or not to trust them. I don't ever use him in missions so I have no idea why he thinks just because he was the first person I ran into after being brought back to life that we're now best buddies. Also, you made a comment about him being so nice, I think that's part of it. No one is that nice all the time. And the whole saluting me all the time thing. Oh it bothers me so much. I'm not much of a fan of Jack either. I guess if your name starts in Jac in ME 2 I don't like you. But at least Jack has a personality. Jacob just kinda seems like a mindless soldier who feels the need to tell me what to do. The first time I played it I did pretty much an 11 hour marathon session with some friends over and throughout the whole game my friends and I kept saying: "I wanna throw a rock at your head, Jacob." And we all cheered when he took a rocket to the face. It made me happy.Vault101 said:mynameisphil said:He's not the main character, but I took an instant dislike to Jacob from Mass Effect 2. I think I finally kinda figured it out. It's the way he just assumes he has some sort of influence on whatever happens on the Normandy. He thinks that Commander Shepard, the guy who saved the galaxy from destruction by the Reapers gives a flying fuck what some random Cerberus operative with daddy issues thinks about releasing a tank-bred Krogan or how he feels about trusting a memeber of the team. I love watching him die only character in that game that I have absolutely no care for.
thats interesting, at first I didnt find him all that compelling (I actually let him die in the final mission because I was paranoid about losing tali) I think because he didnt want to tlak to me all that much
however I began to liek him a little better later on, simply because he was just a nice guy you know? that universe was full of nasty people (miranda wanted to implant a control chip! how many human rights violations are there?) but it was nice ot have somone form cberus who was.....a nice guy plus he acutally dosnt have much angnst or issues (he gets over dad pretty quick) which some people might like after the rest of the madhouse crew
I believe you mean hope, vanille does not whine at all, she is happy and trys to cheer everyone up. but hope is a whiny little brat so i fixed that for you.axis5 said:Vanille from FF XII. So goddamn whiny.

I found that he's more of the "You hate him instinctively, but once you get past that he's pretty alright (considering he lost his home, found out that his girlfriend is going to die and that his father is the spawn of satan, he feels fairly powerless going up against 1000 years of religious dogma, getting man-hunted by an undead metamorphisising mage-summoner-thing and having to destroy an evil so powerful that just its armour has obliterated almost all signs of advanced civilisation). So given the circumstances he's actually really optimistic and like-able, whereas most of us would be depressed/angry/defeated/dead/etc.bushwhacker2k said:I don't know what that means, but yes, Tidus is a fine example of a protagonist I hate.JWRosser said:How many people are going to say "Tidus because he winges!"
Well having your wife and son taken away from you by the government, only yo be told to do dirty work for the government, just as you're trying to leave a life of crime, would make you a real dick. Not to mention that really, it was the Old West. Who WAS nice there? He becomes a nicer guy when he got his son and wife back, but look how long that lasted...Irridium said:John Marston.
He's just a huge asshole. He has no regard for anyone, constantly threatens people to get his way, and is just an asshole.
I mean yeah I guess he had a good reason, but still, he was an asshole.
