If you aren't saying Michael Thorton, you didn't play Alpha Protocol, I thought Sean Devlin was I dick until I played Alpha Protocol.

Gordon Freeman and Master Chief why? are they so famous WHY??????
How can you hate Gordon? He has no identity, people just like him because he symbolizes a great game series.

Similarly to Jacob, I despised Alistair, from DAO. There is never a time he doesn't whine about anything, and then he tries to call me out for making pragmatic choices. Grey Warden choices. As much as talks about, he doesn't know anything about being one.

As for traditional protagonists, I'd say Sora. If I have to hear one more friendship rant...

He's not the main character, but I took an instant dislike to Jacob from Mass Effect 2. I think I finally kinda figured it out. It's the way he just assumes he has some sort of influence on whatever happens on the Normandy. He thinks that Commander Shepard, the guy who saved the galaxy from destruction by the Reapers gives a flying fuck what some random Cerberus operative with daddy issues thinks about releasing a tank-bred Krogan or how he feels about trusting a memeber of the team. I love watching him die only character in that game that I have absolutely no care for.

thats interesting, at first I didnt find him all that compelling (I actually let him die in the final mission because I was paranoid about losing tali) I think because he didnt want to tlak to me all that much

however I began to liek him a little better later on, simply because he was just a nice guy you know? that universe was full of nasty people (miranda wanted to implant a control chip! how many human rights violations are there?) but it was nice ot have somone form cberus who was.....a nice guy plus he acutally dosnt have much angnst or issues (he gets over dad pretty quick) which some people might like after the rest of the madhouse crew
I'm currently in my second play through and still have absolutely no attachment to Jacob. The only reason I'm going to do his loyalty mission is because it's fun and I think it's great to make his dad commit suicide. Don't judge me, it's a video game. he's not real. I just hate the fact that every time you bring a new team member onto the Normandy Jacob decides that you need his advice on whether or not to trust them. I don't ever use him in missions so I have no idea why he thinks just because he was the first person I ran into after being brought back to life that we're now best buddies. Also, you made a comment about him being so nice, I think that's part of it. No one is that nice all the time. And the whole saluting me all the time thing. Oh it bothers me so much. I'm not much of a fan of Jack either. I guess if your name starts in Jac in ME 2 I don't like you. But at least Jack has a personality. Jacob just kinda seems like a mindless soldier who feels the need to tell me what to do. The first time I played it I did pretty much an 11 hour marathon session with some friends over and throughout the whole game my friends and I kept saying: "I wanna throw a rock at your head, Jacob." And we all cheered when he took a rocket to the face. It made me happy.
Fair enough, I liked all the ME2 chrachters, even miranda when she wasnt being a *****, I think because I wouldnt want every charachter to be shepard fanboys (imagine a whole crew of conrad verners....that would be funny)

as for Jack, I couldn't hate her, I just felt very very sorry for her, I was annoyed with Ceberus and her for being such jerks except it was cerberuses fault (stuff that hapned at the facility was horrible) the problem I had with her (and this is comiing from my extreme paragon side) was that I couldnt "fix" her and make her a nice person, I did help her with her loyalty so mabye she would improve, but aparently Romancing her (not just having sex when u get the option) seems to be the only way to help her, which I couldnt do

I supose that was the whole Idea of the game, get a team together all with different veiws and problems

Cole from inFamous, first off his voice just plain bothered me, and his inflection rarely matched his emotion, secondly he just completely shuns someone the second they come close to doing anything wrong, third,
who the FUCK goes back in time to turn themselves into a uncaring fucking war machine, granted that was technically Kessler/Cole from another dimension, but they are essentially the same person

Honestly, I liked the old voice actor. It went well with the character and setting. Grumpy electric guy. Pretty great tbh. And Kessler went back in time to prevent Cole from being an emotional fool while the world was being destroyed; he had to be made a war machine to destroy the Beast.

I know it's been said, but the Master Chief. Not so much hate, but disappointment. (I played Reach first, being finally able to get an Xbox just recently, and got Halo 3 around Christmas)
I expected some awesome badass, and he was, but he was just so boring about it. He was a man of few words. And that can be good, but it just seemed disappointing after playing as N6 for a while.

Jack Marston if definitely up there. WORK YA DAMN NAG!

I don't like Jacob in ME2 either, he looks like Kanye West!

Mine would be N'ah'man Jayden in Heavy Rain. I dreaded playing his parts of the game, save for the scene at the junkyard.

Well, just about anyone with definitely-not-compensating-for-anything weaponry and/or a voice like they just ate half a gravel pit.

How many people are going to say "Tidus because he winges!"
I don't know what that means, but yes, Tidus is a fine example of a protagonist I hate.
I found that he's more of the "You hate him instinctively, but once you get past that he's pretty alright (considering he lost his home, found out that his girlfriend is going to die and that his father is the spawn of satan, he feels fairly powerless going up against 1000 years of religious dogma, getting man-hunted by an undead metamorphisising mage-summoner-thing and having to destroy an evil so powerful that just its armour has obliterated almost all signs of advanced civilisation). So given the circumstances he's actually really optimistic and like-able, whereas most of us would be depressed/angry/defeated/dead/etc.

Titus from FFX (underwater football dream man?)
Vaan from FFXII
Desmond from Assassin's Creed
Master Chief from Halo (he's so bland)

just to name a few

Gordon Freeman. I don't know why everyone proclaims him as an awesome character. He just ISN'T a character. For all we know he could be a psychotic maniac who just likes to kill things. Or a coward. Or both. You can't even judge him by his actions, because 90% of what he does is just what he's ordered to do. The other 10% is just running away.

Okay, my other most hated character is Marcus Fenix. If you want I can explain, but I really shouldn't have to.

John Marston.

He's just a huge asshole. He has no regard for anyone, constantly threatens people to get his way, and is just an asshole.

I mean yeah I guess he had a good reason, but still, he was an asshole.
Well having your wife and son taken away from you by the government, only yo be told to do dirty work for the government, just as you're trying to leave a life of crime, would make you a real dick. Not to mention that really, it was the Old West. Who WAS nice there? He becomes a nicer guy when he got his son and wife back, but look how long that lasted...

OP: Vaan FUCKING Ratsbane. He is the sole reason why FFXII is the worst FF in the series. At least Hope was a side character.

this seems like one of those topics where i could say

'every one in FF 12' and call it good, cause >.> well 12 sucked

but god of war 2 and on Kartos, in the first one he was ok, then the second one came out and they fucking him all up to the point i didn't finish the game

Alex Mercer, he just kinda sat there being pissed the whole time

every one who isn't 'you' in White Knight Chronicles, seriously, that games got no right existing

Sora from kingdom hearts >.> he's probably the reason i stopped caring about that game

Axel, MMX most useless and annoying character in the franchise

Sten from DA:O just never liked him. he was a dick from the get go, even after saving his ass, ironically, the golem (who's name i forget)i liked, also a dick, but in a funny way :D and i'd say Alistiar, BUT i also had Morrigain alot to, and their interactions amused me XD
