Ninja Gaiden (the newer series, not the old one). I got to the boss on top of the zeppelin / airship / whatever. I think it's level 3? Tried about ten times, gave up. The game wasn't fun enough to justify the crazy difficulty.

Suikoden V also comes to mind. I gave up on it "solely due to difficulty", but in this case it's because the game was just too easy.

How about Virtua Quests last hunter licesne? I recently picked up another copy of the game to give it another go. (last time I tried it was when I was nine but the controls are so janky.)

uh Serious Sam Advance on the GBA... yeah, that game was goddamn cheap, there was pretty much one gun that was worth using though the later levels and with hoards of enemys and only 100 ammo it was a piss take.

This made my cry as a child. However I appreciate how Arthur is in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 so I can whoop his ass for a change.

I Wanna Be The Guy

I am just not masochistic enough to finish. I could, but I devote way too much time to competitive raid progression in WoW which is enough masochism in gaming.

Oddworld: Abe's Odyssee - Propobly the most difficult platformer ever made
Was it harder than Exoddus? I found that one mostly pretty easy but never played Odyssee. It is possibly my favourite game of all time, though.
Exoddus has quick save.

Oddysee does not. You die, you go back to the beginning of the section. This makes it infintely harder, especially when trying to save all the Mudokons.

Theres only been one but I can't remeber the name of it. It had a little blue guy shaped like a Pikmin and was an isometric strategy game. As far as I can remeber it's been the only game I couldn't figure out. It was called something like 'Someones name..Journey.' or somthing.

Ninja Gaiden I took the controller off my ex and did it for him...probably one of the reasons he's my ex *winces*

The Last Remnant was a bit of a steep difficulty curve but I just waited until I was in the mood for grinding. :|

Edit: QWOP (lol)

Here's the thing about Chaos Legion. It takes a lot of grinding to become powerful enough to truimph over your enemies. If you don't grind, the game becomes mind-bogglingly difficult.

I don't have the patience for that much grinding.

The Pokemon games (any of them, really)

A little back story before hand. As a kid, people really thought I had ADHD. There was absolutely zero patience with me. I had to be doing something.

My strategy consisted of this; Whatever Pokemon you first got, only train that. For about 5 years and two iterations of pokemon, I would just train one thing. I had no idea how to play games like this, and the thought of actually "training" pokemon was above me.

Basically, I would get my Charizard or what have you up to about level 70, and make it to about round two of the Final Four (or whatever they are called) each time. I had no idea what revives did, and I had no idea what all the different potions were.

My Pokemon was so overkill that I really got through it with no trouble.

I ended up just restarting about 50+ times. But hey, I enjoyed it.

I gave up on God of War 3 because I cannot get past the final boss fight. I loved the rest of the game and the trilogy as a whole but that last bit just doesn't seem possible. What makes it worse is I think its the only game I currently have that I haven't beaten. (I like to finish things!)
Which part? Maybe I can give you some pointers.

OT: I actually gave up on the God of War 3 on Chaos difficulty. That difficulty made the second hardest difficulty seem like Normal.

Thanks, any pointers would be much appreciated as I really don't like leaving things unfinished!
Its the part where you fight Zeus after a cutscene with Pandora's box and can only move left and right across beam between two pillars. I think the fight is broken into two halfs by a cutscene, and I can just about get to the second half but he grinds away at my health and before I know whats happening I'm dead and contemplating using my controller as a shot put.

I've tried so many times to play Oblivion, but I suck at leveling up so that my characters can actually fight. Someday, I hope to figure it out.

This one is a bit embarassing but I could never get very far in Zelda: Twilight Princess. In my first playthrough I got caught on the fire temple because I kept falling in the lava and the stupid stuff knocks out two hearts every time you fall in so it's pretty easy to die. Then on my second go I got stuck even earlier at the first horseback fight. The other thing that always gives me trouble are the online Amateur Surgeon games. Mind you, the graphics in that game are creepy enough to drive people away anyway.

The Lion King on the Sega Megadrive. For a game designed for children, it was literally the most difficult game I've ever played. Even my step-dad couldn't beat it. I bought it again a couple of years ago along with a Megadrive to attempt to beat it, and still failed.
