<-- My avatar... Also L in Death Note.
L wasn't really the villain. He was the antagonist but Light was still the villain.

OT: In Blazblue Calamity Trigger, Hakumen was sort of a villain and I rooted for him. I also rooted for the first Greed in Full Metal Alchemist, I felt like I could identify with him.
Hakumen wasn't a villian. The only real villain wasn't playable in CT. I mean you could call V-13 a villain if you really wanted to but that's a tad off too. Hazama/Terumi is the real villian, also who I mentioned in this thread, and he's not playable til CS. Also there's Relius Clover now so the game's cast of villains has expanded.

But Hakumen? He's one of the six heroes, not a villain. He's one of the good ones too. Him and Jubei are tight.
Hakumen kinda went around attacking everyone without any provocation. He was about as close to a playable villain as the first game got... Well him and Jin.

Any time the villian is a manipulative evil genuis (see movie choice)
That sort of reminds me of Dick Dastardly..

Of course! Dick Dastardly! another villain I root for! why didn't I think of that earlier?

Lucien from Fable 2. I always felt it was weird. I spend an entire game trying to kill him for being "evil" only to

do exactly what he wanted all along, revive my dead family

that's kind of your opinion. all through death note Light was doing the right thing. he's no worse than batman.
He killed a few people who didn't deserve it but they were trying to stop him from killing bad guys.
if you look at it objectively L and the police were the ones using the underhanded tactics to try and stop a vigilante do-gooder from killing criminals

I'd take it if you played Mass Effect You'd think Garrus was the evilest thing since sliced evil bread

David Bowie (AKA Jareth the goblin king) in "Labyrinth"

Mostly because I love David Bowie as an actor.

Nonononono! First, Batman doesn't kill people! Second, think about the consequences of Light's actions for a second. In a world where someone is reported arrested just dies, what's to stop someone from just framing someone else, getting Light to kill them for him? All he'd do is change the way people murder others. That's it. Dude just kills anyone accused of a crime, and you think that makes him a good guy? Just no.

I'm quite aware, I just didn't think it needed to be said.

Wow... you sai exactly what I was gonna say before I could. Also, Garrus only went after people he knew were committing crimes (the merc groups) and he is my favourite Mass Effect character(excluding Shepard).

Most of time this happens its a case of me disliking the hero rather then going for the villain.
Zim(Invader Zim) and Taskmaster (Marvel) always have me in their corners regardless of the heroes.

he didn't kill everyone accused of a crime. most of the people he killed were being looked for by the cops already, or caught red handed. I'm not saying the system's perfect but in season 2 they said crime
was practically gone. I think Light is smart enough to not act without good evidence. and don't you think Gotham would be safer if the Joker and the Riddler and all the other villains would just die quietly one night..... oh crap they all ware masks shit.... well the shinnegami eyes and some kind of Bat-X ray goggles.
you're not the "Results at any cost" kind of guy are you

-The Hulk. I'm copping out here, but in my defense, for all comic nerds out there, WWH.
Heck ya WWH! Was rooting for him too.
Continuing the comic villain support, one I am surprised there hasn't been more mention: Joker.
Now this isn't Heath Ledger Joker, I mean the animated tv shows batman Joker. Pick any of the batman's numerous animated shows and that Joker is the one I mean.

Also Supported Venom even though he's more of an anti-hero now.

Not all of Flash's villains, but some of them were quite interesting enough to gain my support. Such as Mirror Master or Weather Wizard.

I don't know if he would count so much as a villain as he would comic relief but: Dr. Doofensmurf.
