have you ever done something stupid in a game that has caused you to repeat a whole level/dungeon/boss,etc.? Please share.

Mine are from two Zelda games: Majora's Mask (We've all made this mistake before) and Link's Awakening.

MM: Completed the Deku temple with all 15 fairies.... then played the Song of Time... 2 seconds later...

LA: Completed the 5th temple: Catfish's Maw (that insane one where you get the hookshot) completed it, proud of my self without thinking, my fingers went to the power button. wait... did i save...? FUCK

In Mass Effect, after saving at a horrible time at a low level I had to restart the entire game (Damn you to hell, monkey planet!)

In Fallout 3 I voluntarily restarted after reaching level 13 or so in one playthrough, then realizing that I picked the wrong perks and I should redo things.

I was forced to do that in Oblivion. My original was level 17 before I realized it though :(

I was playing L4D2 and was doing The Parish on expert with some friends, and at the end I got incapped by a common while my friends were on the helicopter already. I had gone the entire campaign without dying before that, and there had been times when I was the only one to make it to the saferoom alive. Needless to say I decided to give up for a while after that and I took a breather. Planning to have another go at it soon.

Well I was playing demons souls on and I.... accidentally stabbed the shopkeeper.... a lot. I swear it wasnt my fault though! My sword slipped! Unfortunately he was also the only one who sold firebombs which I needed to kill the first boss. That kind of sucked.

In Knights of the Old Republic(the first one) I had to fight Darth Brendan(or whatever the hell his name was, you know Malak's right hand man). I had a horrible team cause I tried to fly through the game so I couldn't beat him. Then I realized that the autosave was the only save I had. Had to start the whole game over again. But oh well, it was KOTOR, so I didn't mind much.

Umm, you can kill the first one without them, they just help. But that whole game was just too fucking annoying for my taste. Turn corner, die, go back to start. Things like that, just really began to piss me off.

It's funny you mention Majora's Mask. On my first playthough I didn't figure out that you could slow down time, so I got to the end of the Deku temple just as I was getting the DONG DONG DONG on the third day so after beating the boss I panicked and quickly and quickly blasted out the Song of Time... crap!

Overwriting an awesome save in Fallout 3, reloading the wrong save only to find the save I was using was destroyed by a crappy game mechanic in Fable 1 are the first that come to mind...
Both of which made me repeat the WHOLE GAME.

On one of my multiple replays through Ocarina of Time, I found a way, in the Forest Temple, where if you don't use the keys just right, you end up screwed. I spent a good 2 hours making sure I did everything I could to find another key, but was completely screwed.

Then, when I went to reload it, like a tard, I habitually hit the "Yes, I want to save."

More than once have I turned off a game whilst forgetting to save.

Twice, my oldest has done it to me. When he was 3 he copied over my Twilight Princess file. I had just finished the Goron dungeon, and didn't want to deal with it all again so soon, so I didn't touch the game for over 6 months.

Then, just about a month ago (he's now 6) I was letting him play Kingdom Hearts, and he deleted my save.

I had to do this as well in Oblivion. I had planned out the perfect lvl 50 character, only to find out at lvl 43 I had messed up. I didn't have to start from scratch, but had to get back to around lvl 35

If in-game, in this horrible -piece of media based- game, I went the wrong so BAM! Have to restart the level. Why was I playing it? It was better then reading boring books.

If you can include times outside of the game then I say yes!

After many hours of grinding in any game, or just a few hours or so of progress, then... either a power outage, OR the game decides to say " Aay! Fuck you!" And crashes, or you're at a hard part, hours after your last save, and you get screwed over by something or other, and rage quit. All of these have happened to me at some point or another.

Once, on Lost Magic on the DS, after finishing my 'Perfect file' (literally everything maxed out), i started a low level run challenge. Then I fucking saved it over my perfect file. I just stopped playing the game for good.

I gotta say when I played Modern Warfare on Veteran on the mission where your helicopter crashes. (It's been a long time since I played it, so names are a little hazy.) I got to the end, destroyed the helicopter, followed price and then "Bzzt" power went out and came back in a few seconds.

I had to do the helicopter part over again. I wasen't happy since it took me a few hours just to do that.

I had almost finished the last boss in a game, and my brother was repeatedly quicksaving (to my utter indifference). I got fried, pushed his hand away, quickloaded... and I was halfway through the frying animation.

Original Pokemon Blue version. I finally got my 150th mon (Cloyster, but I wanted it at 50 or some other obscene lvl so it knew Ice Beam) and showed it to my 5 year old cousin. In 15 seconds he manages to delete it.

My mother and aunt had to hold me back from strangling him.
