Mass Effect. In a moment of brilliance, I saved in an elevator on Zhu's Hope. Of course, the autosave saved there as well, so when the doors didn't open, I was stuck. My own save wouldn't load either for some reason. I had done almost every assignment and had to redo it all again. Counting that, I've played through ME five times.

On one of my multiple replays through Ocarina of Time, I found a way, in the Forest Temple, where if you don't use the keys just right, you end up screwed. I spent a good 2 hours making sure I did everything I could to find another key, but was completely screwed.

Then, when I went to reload it, like a tard, I habitually hit the "Yes, I want to save."

More than once have I turned off a game whilst forgetting to save.

Twice, my oldest has done it to me. When he was 3 he copied over my Twilight Princess file. I had just finished the Goron dungeon, and didn't want to deal with it all again so soon, so I didn't touch the game for over 6 months.

Then, just about a month ago (he's now 6) I was letting him play Kingdom Hearts, and he deleted my save.
God. Have learned your lesson? And that is why I keep all my saves on a seperate memory card.

Anywhos, I was playing Pokemon Gold, I had clocked over 130 hours on the thing and was like 20 off getting all the pokemon, when my cousin got a hold of it and saved over my game. Fuck.

I lost a pokemon game as well. my sister wanted to try it, and i told her she could if she didn't save. but she managed to walk in somewhere that autosaved. lost a shiny pokemon, lol.

The wii was a simple mistake, and I don't think there's a good way to back up your saves. that was 4 years ago, and i didn't think that he would just arbitrarily delete my kingdom hearts file after being told repeatedly not to mess with the saved games, lol.

Fable: TLC. I'd played the entire arena level in one go, using all of my potions and food. I was in the fight against Whisper, with one life left. Both of us a the "one more hit and that's it" stage. Whisper lunged at me, and in a panic, I missed the dodge key. She killed me. I thought, "ok, no big deal, just reload to the start of the round."

Well, care to hazard a guess as to what button I hit in my panic? Yeah... The quicksave. So I loaded, to find that I now had a game where I would load with Whisper in mid-lunge, and not enough time for the system to register any of my defensive button-presses.

The kicker? My previous save was from the start of the Arena... I'd have to do the whole thing again. I think it had taken me an hour and a half. At least it felt like it... I wasn't even able to LOOK at the game for a week...

I started ME 2 and went some 6 hours in with a new character because I didn't know right away how to import an old character (and I was FAR too impatient to even google it). Then I found out just how stupidly easy it is (here on the escapist I think) so I started all over again. Pretty dumb of me but oh well.

Playing Oblivion for 3 hours and doing a crap load of quests then the games freezes. Relizied I haven't saved and that someone had turned off the autosave functions.

Grinding for several hours in Persona 4 (I don't bother saving if there's no risk of death) only to have my housemate turn off the power in my room. She'd been screwing around with the circuit breakers and "wanted to see what would happen if I pressed that". Seriously, what 22-year-old plays around with circuit breakers in a house shared with 3 other people?

I turned off the game in sly 2 while the autosave was going, and lost my data where i had the first 5 areas beat. And i'd accidentally deleted my level 100 kh file with over 100 hours in, that I'd had since i first got my ps2 and have have been playing for like 4 years. i think a part of me died when that happened

After many hours of grinding in any game, or just a few hours or so of progress, then... either a power outage, OR the game decides to say " Aay! Fuck you!" And crashes, or you're at a hard part, hours after your last save, and you get screwed over by something or other, and rage quit. All of these have happened to me at some point or another.

Half way through Phantom Brave . . . I had the PERFECT party, all around level 150, all with weapons that were FULLY unlocked including having the shit from a TON of other weapons, also they were all huge tall collumns and the like so the attacking range was SICK.

Then, JUST after I finish the hardest fight I'd faced in the entire game so far . . . KKKKKZZZZZSHHHHTTT power went out

I reload . . . the save has been WIPED, infact the entire CARD was left with only corrupt data. It was the darkest day of my gaming career . . . to this day I can't play that game anymore . . .

Anybody here know the game Ghosts and Goblins? That game made you play the entire game, but at the "end", you had to replay the entire game-THE ENTIRE GAME- over again to finally get to the final boss. Might I remind you Ghosts and Goblins is really, REALLY hard.

This recently happened: In Mass Effect 2 (insanity), I gain all but Miranda's loyalty (space *****); I get pretty far in with my shotgun-wielding Adept. I could have went for the suicide mission, but I wanted to mine for junk and fully upgrade the ship before doing that. I get sidetracked by an anomaly, which is the side mission that involves safeguarding an injured quarian. I fucked up by choosing Warp Ammo and having very little heavy weapon ammo to boot, and because the difficulty was set to insane, the swarms of varren had high armor and could walk through my singularities to bite the quarian. and I hadn't really saved in over seven hours of gameplay. The mission proved to be unbeatable, so I started over as a Sentinel, chose the assault rifle in the collector mission, ascertained Dominate, and all has been well since.

I swear, if ME2 wasn't so much fun, I would have quit this game.

LA: Completed the 5th temple: Catfish's Maw (that insane one where you get the hookshot) completed it, proud of my self without thinking, my fingers went to the power button. wait... did i save...? FUCK
First off, Link's Awakening is my favorite of the Zelda's b/c it introduced me to the series and it was insanely difficult when i was a child. It had an unbelievable story and the puzzles were a *****. But enough of memory lane, i've been there and done that with the forget to save dilemma. For me, it was about 5 hours worth of Oblivion data gone...poof...followed by obscenities and refusal to play Oblivion for months
