The infamous cannon glitch in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I had restarted the game when on the Internet I heard it could be avoided by commiting suicide using bombs if it happened.

Fuck.

Oblivion. About 30 or so hours into the game, my save breaks and makes it unloadable.

Accidentally broke my memory card when I threw my controller at the Gamecube when the game glitched and I had to redo the game. The game was Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

In Jet Set Radio Future, I accidentally saved my sister's (chapter 2)profile over my (chapter 9) profile.

I was playing L4D2 and was doing The Parish on expert with some friends, and at the end I got incapped by a common while my friends were on the helicopter already. I had gone the entire campaign without dying before that, and there had been times when I was the only one to make it to the saferoom alive. Needless to say I decided to give up for a while after that and I took a breather. Planning to have another go at it soon.
Something kind of similar happened to me (same campaign), I was also on the bridge when I made a mad dash to get to da choppa, when I got inside, I learned that I made a mistake and something else, 1. I was playing with bots (I use a computer so weak I literally preform slower than everyone else and get kicked a lot because of it) 2. a Tank followed me it to the chopper. The Tank downed be but I killed it before it killed me. When Coach and Rochelle died Nick warped too me, but because I was in the chopper, Nick, being the only person standing, triggered the game to end.

I got cheated out of a achievement by a bot!

Stuntman on the PS2, The game is known to be a fucking ***** and I made it upto the final movie and I accidently erased my save instead of copying it.

And on The Saboteur, I did 3 hours of blowing up Freeplay targets but I never did any missions, so it didn't autosave.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Yeah I kept doing that to with Saboteur. It made me so mad, I actually stopped playing for a decent week. And I keep doing that with Just Cause 2. I am slowly realizing that Auto Save is not the way to go.

In my earlier Spore days, the game would crash for no apparent reason. I learned then to save as often as I think of it. A couple times, I played it as a window rather than full-screen... aaaand I'd accidentally hit the X in the corner, thinking it was for another window, usually while I was well into the Space stage and doing very well, without having saved. FFFFUUUUUUUUUUU It only happened twice, and I've learned to just play on full-screen, saving often. Durrr.

I was playing Baten Katios Origins and was about 20 hours in when the save file corrupted and my data got deleted. Made me want to kick my cat.

have you ever done something stupid in a game that has caused you to repeat a whole level/dungeon/boss,etc.? Please share.

Mine are from two Zelda games: Majora's Mask (We've all made this mistake before) and Link's Awakening.

MM: Completed the Deku temple with all 15 fairies.... then played the Song of Time... 2 seconds later...

LA: Completed the 5th temple: Catfish's Maw (that insane one where you get the hookshot) completed it, proud of my self without thinking, my fingers went to the power button. wait... did i save...? FUCK
Heh, mine's also Zelda related. I was playing Wind Waker and just finished the dungeon where you get the first Pearl, then I saved. I played on and got to the part where you have all three Pearls and I just put the third one on the statue when...the game couldn't read my disk, and I hadn't saved since I got the first one. I had to redo an entire dungeon followed by a long fetch quest. Any game other than Wind Waker and I'd have just stopped.

Oh, and I was playing the Remake of Perfect Dark. I'm playing the Cetan Warship on Secret Agent. I get into the control room with My CMP150 set to Lock On Mode. In that room, there's two Mr. Blondes (enemies) and also Dr Carroll, a mission critical friendly NPC who makes you fail the mission if he's killed. Guess which one I locked onto first.

Yesterday on Demon's Souls. Must have fallen down that same hole in 3-1 around half way into the level about... 4 times. Small light radius makes me cry. The first time I ran full pace into it. The second time, I approached it from the other side, forgetting it was there. Third time, I was running from an enemy and fell into it. Fourth time, I was after my bloodstain and approached it from the wrong side, fell down.

:< Then I
Forgot to kill that guy in the church who resurrects Fool's Idol. Fucking. Rage.

6 months of playing 2 or 3 matches per day, I finally got Chester promoted to the Premier League (won 3 leagues, each league is 46 games, plus cup ties) on Fifa 09 for PSP, 22 out of 26 of my original players.

I woke up, somehow I'd left the game on overnight whilst it was charging. I reached down, half asleep, saw there was a "Are you sure? X yes, O no" message and thought "I must have got half way through saving it, *taps X*".

It turns out the question was "Do you want to delete this file?". I'd been saving in the same slot, so no backups.

A day or two after I bought Borderlands I decided to take my level 11 hunter online, I landed in a session with two kids who had more hacked items than you could shake a stick at. When they offered them to me I refused but I accidentally picked one up, a shield with excellent regeneration, enormous boosts to stats and something like 2500 shield points in the form of one of those money bobbleheads. Whenever I tried to get rid of the damn thing the stats wouldn't go away. Needless to say I started another game so I wouldn't have an unbalanced experience, luckily a good xbox live friend of mine was kind enough to ease the repetition of the first eleven levels by going through it all with me.
