So I am a really really hardcore gamer, but I have mostly always stuck to consoles. I did fairly recently get a new PC though, which has the oomph to run basically any game out there.

I prefer FPS and RPG games, I HATE RTS and JRPG's and anything turn based. Anime is not acceptable to me.

So what are some older games that are PC exclusives that I need to check out? I play basically every Console game that is popular, like Oblivion and Fallout3 and Halo ect ect.

If anyone has some advice I would be glad to hear it.

== Already Checked Out ==
Killing Floor
The Witcher
Guild Wars
LoL

*Thanks to anyone who feels like wasting some time giving me suggestions.

The Broken Sword games are still fun.
Portal and TF2 are much better on the PC.
And Painkiller, just because I've heard good things about it.

The Orange Box. TF2 has to be one of the most balanced FPSes for PC out there, and Half Life 2 has plenty of mods to keep you busy.

I already have the Orange Box for 360. I do agree that HL2 and Portal are some of the best games ever though. Still I want to stick to PC exclusive titles if possible.

Orange Box. There, you can live the rest of the year with it.

Just get any source SDK game, like Day of Defeat, and you'll have access to all source mods.

Bioshock 1:

*Minor RPG elements
*Average FPS elements
*SPECTACULAR story elements
*Fairly priced at this time, especially when bought as a package deal with Oblivion.

An excellent game which from what I've heard plays better on the PC than the 360. (And I do play it on the PC.)

Baldur's gate, Dragon age, Jade empire, Neverwinter nights, Knights of the old republic and mass effect. Thats just bioware and all of those are rpgs... Try Dues Ex if you can. its a pretty damn good fps rpg hybrid. Thats all I can think off the top of my head right now.

if you like racing games, give GTR2 a go its a proper race sim.
it is also illegal for a pc gamer to be without at least 1 copy of Half-Life admittedly it is 11 years old though :D

if your feeling adventurous give "Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines" a go steam is the place to get it as a boxed copy will cost a small fortune. get "dark messiah of might and magic" too

and may i be the first to suggest you help purchase blizzard entertainment's 15th yacht by getting hooked on World of Warcraft

Edit: Removed the witcher

PLEASE READ THREAD, DON'T TROLL.

If I said PC only, and I said I tried Killing Floor, and I said I own the Orange box then why are you posting those ideas?

I already own Bioshock, and basically all Bioware games.

Baldur's gate, now that is an interesting suggestion. thanks.

The orange box is pretty much required reading for PC gaming. Avoid BFBC2 because last I checked it has yet to be very well optimized for PCs (If you want it but have yet to get it then get it on console). The two Kotors are available as RPGs as well as a number of MMO's that can keep you busy. Jump on Steam and see what specials they have right now you might find something good though a word of warning. Be careful of what you buy and check system reqs if you don't have an incredible comp. you can get bitten in the ass by system requirements from time to time if you are not careful.

Plant Vs. Zombies. Hardly a "hard core" game, but it's probably the most fun you can have with such a simple, but hectic game.

I always give a nod to Borderlands and Morrowind when possible. Morrowind is seriously "hard core" if you like RPGs at all. Deus Ex was suggested, and that is also pretty hard core with the difficulty curve at the beginning. Hell, it was so steep that I only finally completed the first level this last week despite owning it and trying to play it over all these years.

Another FPS favorite from back in the day would be the No One Lives Forever series. The first one is getting kinda ugly, but it's still a great game. You have to keep in mind that if you are looking for PC exclusive games, you probably are going to have to look to at least last generation for some unique titles. This generation has been nothing but ports across all systems for all games.

Also, Thief (1): The Dark Project and Thief 2: The Metal Age are some seriously hard-core FPS games (The "S" stands for "Stealth"). I still play them and despite their extremely dated graphics, I've yet to play a game that handles stealth so well.

Deus Ex!

Other than that, I'm not sure and also open to recommendations, as I am a new PC gamer as well.
