Let's see, Skyrim is great game, Oblivion is not.

-No more skill picking at the start before you know what are useful for you playstyle.

-No more monsters leveling with you.

-Better, tho more crude looking, UI.

-No pointless skills like athletics or acrobatics.

-No more boring green forest all over the map.

-Actually more interesting main story line.

-Dragons!

....So wait, there arent any ways that Oblivion is superior. Oh well.
This. I did actually love Oblivion but Skyrim is better than it in every way.

I dont know where people got the idea Oblivion's User Interface was good.

Sure if you played it on the 360, on the PC it was large and low resolution, not to mention your inventory icons were large. Whenever I sparingly played Oblivion I always downloaded a mod that fixed the broken interface. Morrowind didn't have this problem.
Well, I don't think it's so much that Oblivions UI was good as much as it's better than Skyrims.
Bingo!

Skyrim leaves me longing for a Pipboy.

Or at least, go fully one or the other--keyboard or mouse for the UI--and with better hotkeys if keyboard. The multi-level menus don't bother me so much as the awkwardness of navigating and using them.

2. Go to the Dragonreach.
3. Sell stuff to the general store.
4. Listen to the shopkeeper.
5. Racism.

I loved Oblivion. I love Skyrim. But I loved Oblivion more. I would have loved Morrowind more if it wasn't based on bloody luck.

Oblivion had brighter/more varied colours, which I dug.
Also, there's no arena in Skyrim, which is a pretty big bummer.
And I always liked having athletics and acrobatics as a skill too...

Oh god, those two skills drove my OCD over the edge, the hours i spent running into wall and jumping under a doorway.

Having played neither i can't really testify, but to the outsider (me) skyrim sounds a hell of a lot better on paper.
Morrowind vs Skyrim is probably a more interesting comparison, considering most people think Morrowind is the better game.

Well, apart from its rubbish story line, boring setting, Imperials looking less Roman and more Medieval, Caves being copy-pasted to infinity, Woeful dialogue, broken gameplay and sleeping to level, yeah Oblivion is WAY better than Skyrim *trollestia.jpg*

Seriously, there is only 2 ways Oblivion is superior, one, Patrick Stewart <3 and two, "Stop right there criminal scum" and thats about all I can think off, right, I'm off to shout some goats off cliffs, toodles!

Skyrim's UI is bad for pc gamers, which is why i use DS3 tool and a Ps3 controller for it, that is my Only compliant....as soon as we get the Creation Kit I can see te UI get a Huge Overall, and How os Oblivion better than Skyrim!?! Oblivion fails in the Immersion department, and least it does not have that Scary close up zooming thing...which scared the crap outta me. and atleast Skyrim has More voice actors then Oblivion did>.>, I just fail to see how it is Better -_-...

Morrowind takes the cake for me because of the sheer immersion and connection I felt to the story.

Skyrim has all the technological advantages I wish Morrowind had.

I'm NOT the only one who thought that then! I agree with your entire post, but especially this bit!

The moment i got the bound sword spell, conjuration went up like mad! but of course, i kill damn near everything i come across with fire, and destruction is about 30... conjuration is about 52.

I've been working on a bit of a theory that for the spells it's not HOW MUCH you use it, but more WHAT you use... to be honest it's fairly obvious, but if you use harder to learn spells more often, the skill level will just rocket, whereas if you stick to the lower level ones it goes nowhere.

OFFTOPIC: Has anyone else come across the equilibrium spell? You will have if you have done the college quest line. Basically, it's like a mana healing potion, that uses health. Essentially, you can level up restoration by just using them both over and over again. Equilibrium to drain health/gain magicka, healing to drain magicka/gain health.
Never thought of it like that! Now ima go do some good old fashioned grinding! Also, are there any alterations spells that make your alteration skill skyrocket, and does bound battleaxe work the same as bound sword?
Err, it's not really any PARTICULAR spell, just one that is a little 'above your station'. The sort of spell that will drain your mana bar to empty in about a shot. If your not very good at alteration (and low level) try stone-skin. Really, i'm not sure if this is really grinding, but it seems to have worked :\

I have no idea if bound battle-axe is any different to bound sword. It just seems to be spells that are high level... now that i say it it seems a bit obvious xD

I miss the "Stop right there criminal scum!"

But seriously, I much prefer the cities in Oblivion, they just seem more lively. I do like the ones in Skyrim and I can understand why they're smaller and less busy, but yeah. I liked the cities in Oblivion more.
These two reasons. I almost always play an assassin or thief. I never knew how much I had bonded with the guards until I played Skyrim and was never called "criminal scum". D:

yeah, but a good assassin or thief could have a good relationship with the guards, since hes good and doesnt get caught ;) or, do what i do... keep a 25 gold bounty, that way the guards walk around saying "wait a minute... i know you", but you can talk your way out of paying it =D
