Man this got my temper up through the roof right now! F*in morons, of all the nerve picketing at funerals ... this is disgusting...

Well there are going to be a lot of supporters for Dio there - since on Facebook on the official facebook fanpage - they gave you the name of hotels close by who offer cheaper rooms for the nights if you mention the code which proves your coming to attend the funeral - to those flying in - or coming from far away, so there will be probably a lot of people close by, who won't let this go on if they piss them off - but I don't even know why any court allows picketing at anyone's funeral ....

Let DIO Rest in Peace ...:(

Wow, Dio died? That kind of sucks.

As for the Westboro people: one truth that is becoming more and more universal is that loud, anti-gay protestors almost invariably end up being exposed as being gay themselves, in which case I await the day that Fred Phelps' secret gay lover is discovered. Beyond that, they're a bunch of morons, anyway, and deserve nothing less than complete and total mockery and scorn, but it's far, far better to be absolutely nice to them while they wail and gnash their teeth.

Those clowns keep finding ways of antagonizing people. Sad.

Is anyone here law savvy to know whether or not their antics are fully covered by the First Ammendment?
Maybe you guys could get them for disturbing the peace or unlawful assembly? That's about all I've got.
Sadly, people have the right to peaceful protest, even if it is something as horribly ridiculous as this.

Being a "church" group only makes it worse. Our government or law enforcement agencies wouldn't dare step in for fear of the repercussions from the religious communities.

You can basically get away with almost anything as long as you aren't harming anyone, and claim you're doing it in the name of religion.
I don't know what churches you have been to, but my (Deeply Conservative) priest publicly denounces these fools every time they come to the north east region. He actually uses them as the perfect 'How to not be christian' example.

If these WBC-tards do show up, I hope there are people waiting for them with water balloons and cream pies. Let Dio rest in peace.
Make that water balloons with poisoned water and cream pies with bricks at the center.
i was thinking more along the lines of lead pipes and brass knuckles.

You know im really hopeing that some metalhead beats the living shit out of these guys at the funeral. I know i know it would only make things worse for us but it would be so worth it.
Hang it all. This is in America. Just shoot the buggers.

Honestly, though, I think this just makes Dio that much cooler. Pissing off a group like this is his last great accomplishment. R.I.P Dio.

Opinions?
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like much of accomplishment to piss off this particular group. All it seems you need to do is fart near a church, and they hate you.

I can't remember where, but I saw a documentary on this hate group a while back, and they are some fucked up people.

I mean really? Protesting a funeral? Usually you protest something you don't want to happen, so would they sit back and go "oh, all right then..." if the funeral was canceled?

I hope everybody at the funeral throws the horn's at em', for Dio!

For fuck's sake, so what if he didn't worship God? He helped bring some of the greatest music of all time, and it's not our damn place to judge. People like them just need to die quickly and see how their verdicts are called.

What if at his dying moments, he repented? They don't know what happened during Dio's final breaths. It's radicals such as that who ruin everything, no matter what religion they're apart of. 4Chan without the sad, sad, sad humor.

Oh good, when Dio sees a bunch of 'God Hates Fags' signs floating around his funeral, he'll come back from the land of the dead to burn those fucking idiots. That'll be cool.

Admittedly I haven't been to a church in a long time. I respect every-ones beliefs and their right to believe what they want. I'm not saying all churches are like this. These guys are(thankfully) not how a normal church behaves.

I was just saying that people like this abuse their rights as a religious group to pull crap like this, because they know they'll legally get away with it.

My friends step-father is a pastor, and his mother is extremely involved in their church. Two of the nicest people I have ever met. Its because of them that I have the respect for the right to believe what you want. In the 10 years I've known them, they've never pushed anything on me. I'm sure they'd be disgusted by the WBC.

Not the smartest thing to do at an open memorial filled with hundreds of Dio and Sabbath fans.

It's like showing up at KFC in a KKK outfit.

Exactly. It even seems like they are celebrating the fact that, in their eyes, he is going to burn in Hell forever. That's just wrong. There is, to me, no greater perversion than taking delight in the condemnation of someone's eternal soul. And who are they to judge whether he is even going to Hell? They didn't know him, we don't know him, and that's honestly for him and God to sort out. It's sickening just how many people take on that "holyer-than-thou" stance and decide that they are suddenly the judge and jury for everyone else on the planet. It's because of mindsets like that that so many people think poorly of Christianity.

WBC does a great job as a straw man. They came near my home to protest the legalization of Gay Marriage, and the renewed public outpouring of support for the gay community was astonishing. I hope they keep protesting, they keep doing there evil perspective incredible harm. Of course, there is more serious issue of disrespect shown to the the recently deceased. All that can really be done is drown them out with love and compassion. If you have followed the cult, then you would not be surprised at this scheme: They have done a lot of protests that don't even make any damn sense. Point, laugh, and hope they don't get within seeing range of the close friends and family.

How the WBC is allowed to perpetrate their hate crimes is an affront of the most offensive order. What loop hole in the Constitution is being abused to allow such malicious, discriminatory, hate? I guess some hate criminals are more 'urgent' than others, huh?

Let's just say for a moment that these irreverent assholes are right, and Dio really is in hell (assuming you believe it's a real, physical realm). He'd own the place by now.
