are these the same people who protest at soldiers funerals?
Yep, the same twisted (possibly inbred) family that protest the funerals of Soldiers.
I miss the good old days of possies
Me too... this would have been solved years ago if so.

Come to think of things. The WBC is probably one of the only groups in the world where you could state that you want to hurt and murder them in horrible ways without feeling less of a human or even feel nasty about it. I mean I could state that I want to lie on the top of a hill with high powered sniper rifle, taking them out one at a time, without most people here thinking I'm an evil, nutty bastard.

That's how horrible they are, stating you want them dead doesn't make you seem like a psychopath.

When Phelps dies, I will be picketing his funeral with the following sign:

"God hates the fags who hate fags"

Seriously, these people have no right to call themselves a church and I truly hope that their entire twisted organization is wiped off of the Earth as soon as possible.

Well yes these people are a little off. But freedom of expression works both ways, even on things you dont want to hear. Of course the main goal is more and more attention...which ironicly is exactly what this thread does. Why dont people learn to ignore these things? I love how you just walk right in with righteous indignation.

Time to go beat up some cult members! Dio was an amazing musician, and probably one of the greatest metal vocalist ever. I doubt God would let someone as awesome as Dio rot in Hell.

I just thought of something else: there are going to be TONS of old school metalheads at this funeral, those guys are badass and you don't want to piss them off. The WBC is BEGGING to get their asses kicked!!!

Here in Kansas (the home of WBC), we have adopted the long-time tradition of simply ignoring Phelps and his cronies. If you give them attention they feel important, but if you completely ignore them, they begin to get all pissy and sad.

Although I must admit, it's FUN to mess with them. Some police in certain areas have been known to get 'mysterious' calls to rescue kittens from trees whenever the Phelps crew shows up - i.e. they don't really feel like protecting them anymore.

Many states have adopted laws specifically designed to keep Phelps and his band of vermin from picketing funerals. Their are laws in some states that specifically state a minimum distance at which a funeral can be picketed.

From Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church

"On 29 May 2006, President George W. Bush signed into law the Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act (Pub.L. 109-228), prohibiting protests within 300 feet (90 m) of the entrance of any cemetery under control of the National Cemetery Administration from 60 minutes before to 60 minutes after a funeral.[72] Penalties for violating the act are up to $100,000 in fines and up to one year imprisonment.[72] The bill garnered overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress with a 408?3 vote in the House, with 21 not voting, and a unanimous vote in the Senate.[72]" - Wikipedia

I'm willing to bet the Phelps crowd will get their asses kicked alright - by the law

It just warms my heart to see people walking around with signs reading "God Hates Fags" and all that stuff, because you know that these truly intolerant people will be the ones who burn. Its a funeral, the man is DEAD what are you going to get by harassing a family?

(Facepalms) GodDAMN I hate these kinds of people... especially how they give well-meaning Christians a bad name.

Fred Phelps is 80. So, just enough time to get a whole bunch of people organised and picket his upcoming funeral, eh?
I can't wait untill somebody pickets his funeral. The mental old fuck.

Honestly, I'm doubtful this has anything to do with Dio, now, while I diden't listen to his music, it seems more like these people are simply useing his death as a way of getting attention to themselves.

This is the reason I want to bring back the "outlaw" branding. Make him an outlaw, I doubt he'd be missed by many, and those who would miss him aren't people really people to give a toss about.

Oh, and I almost forgot... For those who have lost all faith in FOX news, this may restore a little of your faith. A FOX news interviewer calls Shirly Phelps-Roper nuts! It's fucking hilarious!

They'll keep doing this as long as they get a media reaction. They're like an IRL 4chan.
I could not possibly say it better myself.

IRL 4chan. Brilliant words to describe them.

Pretty sure one of those picketers might get seriously hurt, if not killed. Doesn't seem a sane judgment call to picket the funeral of a beloved performer of the rock scene, that's a fan base if any that would murder your ass.

Hahaha oh silly time and air wasting pricks. I personally don't care much about this sorta shit but to anyone living there who does care, rally up a bunch of people and make your own signs and stand amongst them with different messages. Just flood them out like trolls. ;)

I'm guessing police will be present when theres shit like that going on so I don't think they try something stupid all tho they are a bunch of nuts. If media is present it should make for some fun news. ;D

Those people are broken. Plain and simple. I am normally a pretty understanding guy when it comes to personal views, but look at these people. They hate everything, and are picketing a god damn FUNERAL. The worst is how their children will be destroyed by this mans views. These people are not fixable, there is nothing anyone can do to make them any better.

When that man dies can we all go to their funeral and protest the shit out of it? When they object we can cite their own court rulings and see how they like it.

Just bring in the Patriot Bikers like in Kansas, they'll sort everything out. But yeah, WBC needs to go to their own personal circle of hell.
