"A violent riot broke out at the funeral of heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio, when a group of protesters from the westboro baptist church, well known for picketing funerals and other events with hateful slogans such as "God Hates Fags" or "Thank God for 9/11", arrived at the funeral and began shouting hateful words at the grieving family and friends.

The protest group was immediately assaulted by hundreds of enraged Dio and Black sabbath fans. Vicious fighting occurred, and many protesters were killed or injured. Fred Phelps, the pastor of the church was decapitated, and his head was stuck a pike, with the word "asshole" etched into his forehead by a knife. The dead and dying members of the westboro baptist church, we then urinated on and curb stomped.

When the police arrived at the scene, the assessed it and began to congratulate and shake hands with the funeral goers, after the funeral, a massive party occurred, as people of all ages, races and backgrounds got drunk and blasted metal music throughout the city.

The police have stated that no charges will be pressed, and Michael Richardson, the man who killed Fred Phelps, will be given several medals, a banquet in his honor and the key to the city. As for the bodies of the westboro baptist church, they were arranged into a giant pentagram, and set on fire.

Is anyone here law savvy to know whether or not their antics are fully covered by the First Ammendment?

Not sure about California law in particular but they are allowed to protest it, however they will probably be kept away from the cemetery. That and if they so much as touch the tombstone they will get in loads of trouble with the law. I'm betting one of the fans gets pissed and starts a fight which would be a problem as it would make them look better and help them prove their point.

It's best to ignore them but we all know it's not gonna happen.

Here in Kansas (the home of WBC), we have adopted the long-time tradition of simply ignoring Phelps and his cronies. If you give them attention they feel important, but if you completely ignore them, they begin to get all pissy and sad.

Although I must admit, it's FUN to mess with them. Some police in certain areas have been known to get 'mysterious' calls to rescue kittens from trees whenever the Phelps crew shows up - i.e. they don't really feel like protecting them anymore.

Many states have adopted laws specifically designed to keep Phelps and his band of vermin from picketing funerals. Their are laws in some states that specifically state a minimum distance at which a funeral can be picketed.

Good God almighty, I cannot possibly begin to tell you just how much this pisses me off. These kinds of people make the rest of Christianity look like the intolerent fools that they are, and I'm fed up. Fellow Escapists, lend me your ear- for I am both a Christian and a fan of Ronnie James Dio, may he Rock in Peace, and I know that he's in Heaven now. Dio very specifically said in an interview that the Horns were not to represent Satanism, and he never supported any such thing. That these people think otherwise is a shame, and I can see Hell in their futures for sure.
