We Are Our Avatars IX: Act V: The Sabotage of the Scandolous Saurian Scoundrels (Open)

Samus activated her armour when she saw the tentacles, suddenly pulled down by the weight of the suit. Though she couldn't see very far due to the water, she looked around, trying to get a bead on those tentacles as she sank to the bottom. If she saw one, she would fire.

So you can talk underwater?... Let's see how well you scream... Victoria looked up at the merman and smirked. The fingers on her left hand started to elongate and taper off to a curved point to look like an animal's claw. Once this was done, she squeezed down on the merman's ankle with great pressure, attempting to pierce into it. Gonna have to deal with you quickly... can't let your friend run around either...

EMily would hit one of the tentacles and sever part of it. This potentially saved a life, if she could get the crew member above water.
Samus would be unable to see the tentacled merman, due to the darkness and the sinking ship.

The merman Victoria had in her grasp seemed unaffected, due to the armour he was wearing. [color=0047ab]"Please, share the joke with the group."[/color] he said when Victoria smirked.
Victoria would then be hit in the back by the end of the tentacle EMily had severed.

Samus eventually sank to the bottom, looking around and above for targets.

Yeah, fine, keep talking... Just make it more enjoyable for me when I gut you like the goddamn fish you are... Victoria shuddered a bit when the tentacle brushed against her back, but kept hold of the merman. Once she felt her feet hit the floor, she sharply yanked down on the merman's ankle, trying to pull him down as far as she could manage. At the same time, her right leg started to shrink, and out of her knee a sharp blade formed. She raised her knee sharply, aiming to slice the merman across his abdomen.

She accelerated towards the free victim with her electric fields. She grabbed hold of the crew member and swam to the surface.
"There we go. Are you okay?"

She powered up another laser and fired at another tentacle to keep it occupied with her instead of the crew.

The merman thrust his spear down at Victoria's torso, aided by her pulling him down towards her. Victoria managed to wound the merman by hitting a weak point in his armour. However, he lunged forward and sank his sharp teeth into the base of her neck.

EMily wouldn't be able to hit another tentacle, due to the depth the merman was at, and the ship being in the way.

Samus would just be able to see the merman Victoria was fighting with.

 

[Slenn]

"Go ahead and swim to the shore, I'll keep the tentacle monster occupied." She said to the crewman.

"Dangit, that ship is falling faster than I thought. I need to keep my senses up." She powered up again and started to swim down to get closer to the tentacles.

Once she was ready she fired a laser at another tentacle, using her electric sense to feel its muscle movements.

Samus saw the merman struggling with Victoria. She raised her arm cannon, targeting the two. Making sure to aim just at the merman, she fired, with gaps inbetween shots to make sure she was on target and didn't hit Victoria by accident.

OoC: For the record, we don't know what kind of energy her standard power beam fires, though kinetic is probably the best bet.

The crewman began swimming to shore slowly.

When EMily went underwater, she would be unable to see the merman due to ink-like darkness down below. Her electroreception would show her that the merman was swimming out to sea, and was deeper than she may have expected.

Samus' first shot struck the merman, which made the injury to his stomach worse. However, the next shot was a glancing blow on Victoria.

What to do. What to do. Think....

She materialized Photon and used her power on it to perform hydro electrolysis and direct the O2 into her mouth, and pushing the H2 gas away. She breathed in a mouth full of air and dove deeper with her electric fields.

She then refocused to see if she could hit the merman at this closer distance. She fired another flesh-cutting laser at the merman with tentacles.

The Merman's spear would strike Victoria square in the sternum, but would deflect off her ribcage, slicing downwards and giving her a long, shallow wound across her abdomen. Through the wound it easy to tell that her ribcage appeared to be made of metal as well. The cut and resulting bite would cause her to a sound-less scream. Better'n you've tried and failed... Her face contorted into a snarl as the claws on her left hand straightened out into sharp point. She let go of the merman once she was bitten, and jabbed at the merman's head where the jaw met the neck with her straight claws. Samus's shot would dislocate her right shoulder and knock her over.

Samus stopped firing when she noticed one of her shots hit Victoria. She moved, slowly, trying to get a better angle on the merman. When she found it, she fired again, but just once this time.

When the spear entered Victoria's chest, it would not deflect off her ribcage as it was no longer a solid blade. Victoria would feel her lungs slowly filling with water, bypassing her gills.
The merman bit harder as he was jabbed by Victoria's claws.

As EMily dove, the merman continued to get further away, towards the ocean. Her shot missed, and struck one of the crewmen. Luckily, in a way, getting lasered wasn't much of an inconvenience for him.

Samus hit the merman, knocking him away from Victoria. The merman opened his jaws and released Victoria as he drifted away.

OOC: @Trilby. Perhaps a dumb question but, why was it not an inconvenience?

Damn. I'm at too little power to get into photon form at this point to try and catch up to him. I might as well try to help out Samus and Victoria.

She swam closer to the two after taking a breath of O2 from Photon. She signaled to the other two that it might be a good idea to swim back to shore.

Samus ran over to Victoria, seeing she was wounded. Seeing EMily's signal, she nodded in agreement.
