We Are Our Avatars IX: Act V: The Sabotage of the Scandolous Saurian Scoundrels (Open)

[Kirke]

You step inside Dave's ship and take a moment to orient yourself before stepping up to the gathering of people. You tell them that the organisation you have worked for lately has decided to take the matter of the knights into their own hands. As part of this however, they want to put some of the group on trial. You say that while you would gladly reject them, that would mean being hunted. They can track your ship anywhere on Earth, and you can't stay in space forever. You sigh and say that you only see a few ways out of this, and most of them end with you dead.

Samus had followed Shara, standing in the doorway behind her as she spoke, watching the others.

 

[Slenn]

"So this is the organization the bounty store was talking about. If I'm to go to trial, I need some more evidence from the knights if I can."

[color=003399]"Can they even do that? None of us are citizens of this universe."[/color] Joel asked, looking up at Shara.

While Elm would be able to see Victoria's rough position, determining exactly where she stood would be nigh impossible, as the membrane she had conjured warped and distorted her physical position enough that, at any given moment, she could be anywhere within 5 feet of where Elm was looking.

"And let you get away with spying on us? No way, shit-for-brains."

With that, she ran at the bike, zig-zagging on approach to throw off its aim, then suddenly moving forward at inhuman speed, covering a great distance almost instantly. Her left arm began to faintly glow yellow as she made a swipe to stab her knife into the vehicle.

You shrug and say that they seem to believe they can, and they've got a fleet of interceptors to back that up. To EMily you say that they are trying to contact the knights for their side of the story. You also point out that they aren't simply asking you to stand on trial, but demanding it.

 

[Slenn]

EMily cocked her head in confusion, now wanting to hear a more complete story of who these men were.
"Okay, Shara. Now's the best time to explain who exactly these guys are. All I'm ever told is that they're outside agents you work for."

Spoiler: Battle moosics:

"You have been warned." Elm stated, discontinuing its recording. Noting that it its regular camera couldn't pick up on Victoria's movement very well, Elm actvitated the jet-bike's sonar to get a better read on Victoria's position. Seeing Victoria get closer, Elm turned the nose of the jet-bike up 80 degrees upwards, and 30 degrees to the left in preperation for evasive maneuvres. "Ready." Elm said to Sam over a radio link, the radio wave filter of both Sam and itself lifting to facilitate the conversation.

Although it had some problems exactly pinpointing Victoria's position, it could still track her movement easily enough, even when she dash forward. When she did Elm ignited the jet-bike's namesake engine, evading Victoria's knife swipe by this. The purpose of this was to rupture Victoria's eardrums and vibrate the fluids in her organic eye with both the pressure wave, and 140[footnote]For comparison, the horn of your average car is about 107-109 decibel[/footnote] decibels of sound at extremely close proximity, although if unfortunate, Victoria might make contact with the flame, also. "Now, strike." Elm intructed Sam.

When given the ready signal by Elm, Sam drew his sword, and began picking up speed, moving up to a normal running speed. While he moved, Sam flicked the switch underneath the handguard off the sword.

When the okay signal was given, Sam smirked behind the faceplate, and reached over with his sword arm to his left arm, hitting the button on the braces to shut down the cloaking field, not wanting to ambush Victoria like that.

With the cloak shut down, Sam raised the sword so that the tip extended passed his left ear, and burst into a sprint. Although running with super-human speed, Sam limited himself to half of his top speed, not wanting to shoot past Victoria in case she managed to evade his initial strike.

When near enough, Sam pulled and held the trigger of the sword, forming a 7500 watt laser beam where the blade of the sword would be, and made a short downwards diagonal slice at Victoria's lumbar vertebrae.
In case the strike connected, the heat of the laser would boil and expand the fluids in the organic tissue it cut through, worsening the wound.

He wasn't affected by the noise of the jet engine himself.

 

[Kirke]

You turn and ask Samus to close the door, before turning back to EMily. You say they're highly-advanced military organisation called XCOM, created to protect against the extra-dimensional incursions. Apparently, according to the latest transmission you received, they are a highly secret part of UNCETREM, though what exactly that is you do not know. While not many, their troops are well trained and have access to comparatively advanced equipment. They also have a fleet of interceptors, and a large satellite network that can even track your ship.

Samus closed the door when Shara told them all the truth about XCOM, staying silent throughout, face unreadable.

Upon hearing the sound of the bike, Joel stood up and headed outside. Though his eyesight wasn't amazing, he could still see the jet-bike taking off. Noting Vicky wasn't nearby, he began running towards the fight.

 

[Slenn]

EMily wasn't quite sure what to say after what Shara had just explained. It sounded like a bizarre backstory to her.
"Well, I'm not sure what to say to that. Other than thank you for the information." Hearing Joel take off after the bike, she exclaimed "What the heck?" She turned to see the situation. "It seems as though we've run into trouble again."
<color=purple>"Let's hope this doesn't push our speed boosting too far like last time."

 

[Kirke]

You curse under your breath and run outside. On your way to your ship, you draw your blaster with well-practised ease and fire a single shot at the tracking beacon to take it out. After that, you head inside and get behind the controls. Soon, you are up in the air and swing around to see the situation from above.

"Not really no." Sophia shook her head. "The best they had was a man of an upperclass with a horse, they didn't recognize him though... There were other things but it would be incredibly difficult to find him..." Sophia let out a sigh. "Even if I did find my parents... what to say? Everything I've ever thought of asking them just sounds so cliche."

As the others went outside, Samus followed them. She donned her suit, though it was still a bit damaged. She ran to the fight, the boosters on her feet and back aiding her.

Eric who had eventually followed the group due to boredom had also ran towards the battle. He seemed to be very panicked while doing so. When the shockwave of the bike came near him, his shield would set up a force field around him and stop any damage.

Victoria screamed as the vibrations from the bike taking off right in her face seemed to do quite a number on her, staying down on the ground and clutching her face with her left hand while her right remained on the hilt of her knife, which had embedded itself in stone after missing its mark. She regained enough to composure to dive forward and out of the way of Sam's slash at her, suggesting that her hearing was still intact for the most part.

She stood back up and turned around, her right eye closed, but her metallic left eye still open and looking at Sam. She stood still for a moment and breathed deeply in and out. Her body appeared to undergo a sudden growth in muscle mass, the muscles in her left arm growing much more noticeable, as well as it seeming like her metallic arms and legs expanded slightly as well.

She let out a bestial growl at Sam as she watched him for the moment and held her knife out defensively. The faint glow covering her arm grew more brighter and noticeable as time passed.

 

[Chungus]

While flying up, Elm noted the Sworder becoming airborne, also noting the tracking beacon Sam had planted on it being destroyed. With the beacon utterly wrecked, it couldn't trigger the self-destruct function, however.

"Be adviced, reinforcements are en route. Don't play around, here." Elm informed Sam over the radio, then shut down its jet engine and activated the jet-bike's cloaking mechanism to avoid detection by the Sworder. Using the momentum it gained from flying with the jet-engine active, Elm circled around Victoria and Sam. Using its sonar to keep track of Victoria's position, Elm began locking on to Victoria.

While gradually growing more silent after it was turned off, the jet turbine continued spinning for a moment, alowing Victoria to keep track of the jet-bike's position through that. She may also possibly pinpoint the jet-bike's position if she was able to pick up on the sonic soundwaves send out by the sonar.

When Victoria evaded his slash, Sam turned his left foot to the side to stop himself from sliding much further then he did when swinging, coming to a stop and facing Victoria. While Victoria powered herself up, Sam acknowledged Elm's transmission, turned to face Victoria and pressed one of the buttons on his left bracer with the thumb of his right hand, enveloping himself in a semi-transparant, grey forcefield.

[color=edc393]"Not really my thing, but let's see how you do against it."[/color] He said as he assumed a combat stance himself, speaking to himself as his helmet rendered his words mute. Begining to circle around Victoria, after taking three steps, moving faster then the human eye could see, Sam took a step forward, and swung a short swing towards Victoria's abdomen.

Unable to feel the sword's angle and relying solely on vision, the blade angle was slightly off, pointing downward instead of being kept straight, although the fact that the blade was laser-based rendered this moot, the weapon being chosen precisely to make up for this flaw.

Victoria would likely seee Sam didn't have control over his left arm, it dangling uselessly besides him.

OoC: Given the distance between the docking site and the battle, I'd say the Masons should arive after one more turn, Shara whenever because spaceship, and everyone else after two turns. Drop a line in chat if anyone has any objections.

You notice that, for just a moment, a point two kilometres up flares up on your radar and you also detect a radio signal from that location. Turning your nose up and using the gravimetric sensors to pinpoint the object to an area of about five cubic metres, you ready your weapon systems. As the missiles use radar and the targeting computer cannot get a firing solution using only gravimetric data, you are forced to aim manually. After a moment of aiming, you open fire. The salvo, only three seconds long, nevertheless sends twelve blaster bolts against the remarkably empty spot of air.

Due to her concealing membrane, Sam's slash would completely miss her, him striking at where he thought he saw her instead of her exact position. Taking advantage of Sam completely whiffing his strike and needing to recover, Victoria immediately pounced, leaping claw first in an attempt to stab Sam and pin him to the ground at once.
