We Are Our Avatars IX: Act V: The Sabotage of the Scandolous Saurian Scoundrels (Open)

"I see, I see..." Gaphal said slowly, then, after a pause, added, "What do you know of their intelligence network? And what of the clearance codes you mentioned?" Gaphal didn't have much plans for what benefits having access codes could provide, but still could think of a few scenarios where they could be used in a pinch.

Poking his head through the portal, and seeing it was clear, as he saw no one on the other side, Sam moved some distance to the right of the portal, and waited.

 

[Kirke]

You say that they can locate and track your ship anywhere on Earth, even to the point where they were able to intercept it midair. You add that your ship is the fastest on the planet, except maybe one other. You also say that the rate where they collect information is stunning, which leads you to believe they have a large intelligence network, though you add that you have not have direct contact with it. You bring up your comm. unit and begin reciting security codes. However, for each number, you take the first four numbers and combine them with the last four of the next code. This makes the codes utterly worthless, but that is impossible to know without actually trying them. As you do this, you go over and grab Vicky, hoisting her up over your shoulder with a deep grunt. She is extremely heavy, and you find yourself wondering when you last got a good night's sleep. You walk over to the portal, and as you reach it you have said your last code. You sigh and say that that's it, before stepping through. As one last parting gift however, you reach out and give Sam a mental flick of the nose. You smirk slightly as you walk away, going a few metres before setting Victoria down.

 

[Slenn]

"Sheesh it feels like it's been 10,000 years since I've been here on this mission."

<color=purple>"Give or take a few years?"

"Within respectable error, yeah." She said, resorting to looking up at the sky with Winona.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Samus, feeling they had been gone too long, tried contacting Shara. "Shara, are you there? Can you hear me?"

 

[Outisakanobody]

"I hate waiting like this..." Seras added morosely. While she looked like a combination of worried, frustrated, and board, Faro was fidgeting nervously.

 

[Chungus]

As Shara mentioned XCOM's intel network, Gaphal wondered how they did it, several scenario's going through his head, although all lead back to square one. He didn't bother typing down the codes Shara mentioned, or even any other information she had given, relying on Elm to store the information. Both he and Elm had no way of knowing the codes Shara gave were close to being made up, Elm not detecting anything that would indicate her lying.

"Well. If that is all, have a safe journey." Gaphal said dryly after Shara stated that was all the information she would give. "And try not to get in the way of our operations again. It would be better for everyone involved." With that said, and after Share moved through the portal, Gaphal resumed going about his buisiness, informing the base the alert has passed.

After Shara stepped through the portal, Elm closed it, the portal closing imediately on its side, and after two seconds on Earth's side.

Being flicked on the nose, or feeling like it, Sam jumped backward, again spooked by feeling something after having experienced no sense of touch for a long time. Bringing a hand to his helmet, he pressed and held a button, making his faceplate slide up. Bringing a hand to his nose, he rubbed it. [color=edc393]How do you do that?[/color]

 

[Drakmorg]

Victoria started to slowly come to, only barely opening her eyes and groaning, as she was too numb to do much else other than bring attention to her no longer being completely unconscious.

 

[Kirke]

You sit down beside Victoria with a deep sigh as your sixth sense fades away. You feel like going to sleep right there, but a beeping on your communicator keeps you awake. You open the channel and hear Samus' voice. Tiredly you answer, telling her that you and Vicky are alright. You activate the tracker on the unit, and tell her to follow it to your position. Laying down, you mumble to yourself that you need to break Sam free before you slip away into a deep and well-deserved sleep.

Samus wasn't entirely convinced Shara was OK, given how tired she sounded, but at least she had a location now. She turned to the others as Shara disconnected. "I have Shara's signal. She's got Victoria with her, and they're both fine. We need to move out."

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Samus arrived at Shara and Vicky's location ahead of the others. She took her helmet off as she approached the two, looking at Vicky. "Are you two alright?"

 

[Drakmorg]

Vicky was still numb and thoroughly out of it, so all she could manage to do was groan a bit in response to the stimulus of hearing someone speaking nearby.

Samus walked over to Vicky, putting her helmet on and scanning her to determine her state as she offered a hand to help stand up.

 

[Drakmorg]

Assuming her abductors didn't do an awful job patching her up, Vicky's only current health problem would be substantial, but not life-threatening, blood loss. That, coupled with still only having just gotten off of anesthesia, would make it pretty obvious that she wouldn't be in walking condition any time soon.

Samus thought for a second, looking between the drugged Vicky and the sleeping Shara. Knowing she couldn't transport them both, she looked back the way she had come. She disengaged her armour, drawing her Paralyser and switching it to whip mode. She cracked it straight up into the air, creating a small flash that could act as an impromptu signal flare for the others, then holstered it and sat down near the two as she waited for the others.

 

[Drakmorg]

Vicky groaned and tried sitting up, but still couldn't quite manage it.

"Mmmmmmwhahhappen?..."

She muttered, slurring her words and most of what she had said just being part of a groan.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Samus looked over at Vicky, luckily being able to make out what she said. "You got hurt. We struck a deal to heal you." Concern was on her face.

 

[Drakmorg]

Vicky managed to succeed sitting up on a second attempt, propping herself up with her metal arm.

"What? Why?"

She asked Samus, confused by the situation.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"You were injured in the fight, beyond Sophia's ability to heal. We managed to talk to the enemy, and a deal was struck. They healed you. I don't know exactly what they got out of it. Shara went with you to make sure everything was alright."

 

[Slenn]

The sisters caught up with Samus and the ones who were transported. EMily waved for Shara.

"Shara. Hello. What were you able to find out? We're fortunate to have Vicky back."

<color=purple>"Wait... she's asleep."

 

[Drakmorg]

"Must be why my shoulders are killing me."

Vicky winced as she rolled her shoulders. She looked over to Shara, frowning upon finding she was sleeping.

"Really not comfortable with not knowing what happened."
