We Are Our Avatars IX: Act V: The Sabotage of the Scandolous Saurian Scoundrels (Open)

Through various means, with the help of Steve, Samus, Matilda, and the vampires, everyone was brought out of the shack. The small building started to slowly vent itself through the open door and the hole in the wall.

"What happened in there?" Seras asked as she rubbed her eyes.

Once Matilda was out of the building, she began coughing, and retched a little. [color=006d5b]"No idea, but this guy really doesn't like company."[/color] she said once she was able to speak again. [color=006d5b]"I didn't hear him in there, so he's probably out or something."[/color]

 

[Random berk]

"Some sort of gas." Steve muttered, spitting on the ground with his eyes still screwed shut. "They banned the stuff after the first World War. I'm starting to get the sense that this 'Sniper' fellow and myself aren't going to get along well." Placing a hand on his knee, he pushed himself to his feet and forced himself to open his eyes. Though they were red, swollen and still very painful, he glared at the shack.

Joanna too had opened her eyes, though they were still streaming openly. She was shaking, her hands held close to her face, though she didn't rub her eyes for fear of making them worse.

There was a small noise that managed to echo across the open landscape. After a second, Seras pulled what looked like a dart out of her neck. Thankfully, it didn't seem to have any effect on her. However, the same popping sound was heard again, and this time it was Kenna who found herself struck by a dart. She quickly slumped to the ground, barely managing to continue her coughing fit.

Seras and Faro dove to the ground, shouting for everyone else to do the same.

Matilda stepped back inside the house, holding her breath and keeping the lower half of her face covered.

Steve could hear the thumps, and was able to see a blurry shadow sink to the ground as Kenna fell. As his eyes cleared further he saw the two on the ground. As Seras and Faro went to ground he saw the dart in Kenna's neck, and his expression hardened. While the others dropped, he rose to his full height and readied his shield. Momentarily ignoring the shooter, he examined Kenna's body and the position of the dart to identify the direction from which the shots were coming.

"No. I have my thoughts. My family will be safe here. I am ready."

"We will be safe here? Ha! The others can stay, but I am coming with you, Misha."

"Heh. Very well. Heavy is back, babies!"

Miss Pauling continued coughing and being blind from the effects of the tear gas.

Kenna was still awake, but just barely, and she was coughing so hard that it wouldn't be surprising if a lung popped out of her mouth. Samus looked around as Cap did, reeeeeeeeeeeally missing her X Ray Visor.

[color=003399]"You might want to bring some food, or something. It's not exactly a short trip, and I don't think we have the local currency."[/color] Joel said, returning to the truck.

EMily smiled and made a small "Hooray!"

OOC: Gonna head out to get some stuff for making my Meiling badge for her hat.

"Woah, they weren't kidding when they mentioned he could wrestle bears, he's massive." Sophia commented in a hushed voice to Joel and the sisters, trying to not let it carry all the way back to Heavy's group. "It is rather nice here, although I wonder what winter's like?"

Due to his combat experience alone, Steve would be able to tell where the shot came from, but only as far as a general direction. As he and Samus scanned the horizon, they wouldn't see any obvious signs of a shooter. All they would see is flat, dusty ground with the occasional bush or pile of rocks. There was a very slightly higher area a few hundred feet away.

Seras crawled over and pulled Pauling down before she could get shot. It was lucky she did that because a third shot rang out, but didn't seem to hit anyone.

Steve nodded grimly and raised his shield, facing the direction of the shots. As he did, he looked out for flashes in the landscape, the telltale sign of a sniper's scope glinting in the sun.

"Lay down your weapon and show yourself!" He shouted, voice ringing out across the desert. "You don't want me to have to come and get you!"


While all this was going on, Joanna had managed to clear her eyes, and having seen everyone else hugging the ground, decided to do the same rather than find out what they were so worried about.

[color=003399]"Given how far north we are, probably freezing."[/color] Joel said, starting up the car while he waited for the others. [color=003399]"What's your home like?"[/color]

Samus looked around, her visor polarising a bit to help her see in the harsh light.

Previously with the conversation with Matilda and Sophia because I was a bit busy yesterday so I dropped to conversation prematurely

"It's not just her, his family was pretty demanding too. Nothing was good enough for them either. A person can't group up in a house like that." Sophia said as she shook her head. "His own parents." Disbelief in her voice like she didn't understand how someone's own parents could do such a thing.

"Well Winterhorn as the name suggests is pretty cold year round. It's on a mountain after all. As for when I lived on the farm, I'd guess it would be kind of close to how Earth's Scotland or England are? The winters aren't super brutal, but definitely full of snow and the summer has some rain but not as much as England did when we were over there." Sophia answered back, looking inside the car window. Her winter coat hood flopping over her head as she'd leaned down to look into the window as well. "It's nice not having to change coats every season change though, just stick with one and you're golden." She added, pulling away the hood obscuring her face as she said this.

Samus might see a bush that wasn't quite the right color upon close inspection. Steve wouldn't hear a response.

Seras and Faro took out their rifles and started searching around.

"Have it your way." Steve muttered, and began to advance on the Sniper's list of potential hides. As he moved, he kept his shield high and and constantly moving. At the same time, he kept an eye out for any signs of movement, such as dust being kicked up or bushes disturbed. He moved slowly and warily, constantly scanning the area, particularly the elevated ridge as he knew that the Sniper could remain hidden there for a lot longer.

Samus spotted the suspicious bush, and held up her arm cannon. "Over there!" she signalled to the others.
