"Me neither." Sophia said as she looked up to Matilda, the movement of clothing as she turned her neck an indicator. "Did, you know your birth parents?"

Sophia clammed up as Joel mentioned the white fur comment, a slight rosiness to her cheeks. "Well, ya. Of course it will change over. That's what I was referring to. I often was still walking around barefoot in winter up there once my fur changed over." Once this short spell of awkwardness was out of the way, Sophia finally answered the other question. "Well no, that's where the magic college was located. Besides it was in the other universe I stumbled upon remember? This would be the third on I've been in. So it wasn't about the knights, although given what was seen at that trial, one could argue I ended up in that other universe because of them." Sophia thought to herself.

Sniper seemed to figure his gig was up, so he stood up from his concealed location with his hands up and with no weapon in his hands.

 

[Random berk]

"It's about time." Steve muttered, before gesturing to Samus as a suggestion that they approach together. Lowering his shield, he marched towards the Sniper.

"You'd better have a damned good explanation for ambushing and firing on us without provocation like that." He snapped as they got close.

Samus walked foward slowly, cannon still trained on the Sniper.

"I don't know any of you wankers, accept for Miss Pauling. And I don't much care for strangers." Sniper said. "I also don't appreciate you smashing up my parent's house." he added.

 

[Random berk]

"If you knew one of us, why did you kick off the meeting with an illegal chemical weapon? I don't care if you don't like strangers. You were way out of line. I'm sorry about your house, but you didn't exactly give us a choice."

"Like, it's not that should even make a difference, but there's always been that stereotype, right? The unconditional love and what not. It actually hurt to hear what he had had to deal with, like it was unfair in a way."

"The learning magic part? It's been hit and miss. I've learned a lot about my mana, but it's only been three years since I first showed up there, so I'm still a ways off from being a master of anything. It's not like it's just magic lessons there either, math and reading and science stuff too. It's been rather busy."

"Well you're here now, so what do you all want." Sniper asked, looking angry and impatient.

 

[Slenn]

The sisters occupied their time by admiring the scenery as everyone got ready to go back into the car.

As nothing seemed to be happening any more, Joanna looked up. Seeing that Samus and the Captain had found the mystery attacker, she climbed to her feet, still blinking the stinging sensation from her eyes. Her hands went to her bandolier and found the two empty sheathes for her daggers. Her face flushed with anger at the cowardly attack then, and she went to join the older warriors as they accosted the Sniper.

Steve glanced back at the others, where Kenna was still down and Ms. Pauling had yet to approach. Turning back to the Sniper, he fixed him with a cool stare. His red eyes didn't help.
"Long story short, we're here to recruit you."

"Well sorry to disappoint. I'm busy." Sniper said glibly.

 

[Random berk]

"Sorry to hear that." Steve glanced at Samus. "Hey, what are your views on conscription?"

Matilda stepped out of the house, now there was no threat of her being shot.

[color=003399]"How does your magic work? I've never heard of this 'mana' stuff."[/color] Joel asked.

"I strongly disagree with it." Samus replied.

 

[Random berk]

Steve continued to stare into Samus's helmet for a moment.
"Uh... then we might have a problem." He glanced back at Joanna as she arrived.
"Hey kid. Could you go and fetch that Ms. Pauling woman real quick?"

Joanna stopped, then nodded and turned back, still casting a baleful glance at the Sniper before she went.

"I still wish I could have done more to help him, but it's too late for that." Sophia said a bit sadly, slowly getting up. "Thanks for coming and listening to me ramble though." Sophia told Matilda, hesitating for a moment. "Would it be alright if I gave you a hug?" Sophia asked, realizing just going and giving one would be a bit imposing since Matilda wouldn't see it coming.

"Well, mana is this." Sophia said as she raised one of her nailed fingertips upwards. Small droplets of what appeared to be chocolate slowly came from her finger as it, pooling into a small orb half the size of a golf ball. "Or at least mine is." Sophia commented as she looked at it herself with her glasses on.

"Basically for most of the stuff I do, I'm just trying to mimic how the water and wind mages can do, or the healers. It's been tough though as I'm not from there, so although I get guidance, I'm usually the one that has to follow through with lessons to try and make them work for me."

Miss Pauling wandered over and up to Sniper. "What the hell Sniper!?!" she said angrily. He grimaced at her.

"I'm busy Miss Pauling. I've...I've found some things out and I need to look into it." he says in reply.

Joel watched Sophia make the chocolate orb curiously. [color=003399]"So, mana is something you can create and manipulate? Does it have special properties?"[/color] he asked.

"Have you been watching the news?" Steve asked the Sniper. "Civilian populations are coming under unprovoked attack. I don't know many of the details, but some people seem to think that you have indispensable skills in the effort to stop them. If that's true, then you should consider the possibility that this is too big for you to stand aside from. We all have a responsibility to help protect people to the best of our abilities."
