"Neural activity refers to electrical activity in the nervous system. The fish nearby I can sense easily. And that I can feel moving around like fish. But it's the faint movement of things down below that are moving around like a community of humanoids."

"Do your cybernetics allow you to breathe underwater?" She asked Victoria.

"Let's see," She pulled out Photon, "density of water times acceleration due to gravity times the depth of 40 meters gives me... 3.869 times the atmospheric pressure. That's too deep. Your lungs would be crushed."

Code:
"Just gonna jump in and look around."
Victoria casually replied to Seras.
Code:
"Nah, my replacement bits can't do that. But I can get it covered either way."

"Let me see if I can try thermal imaging using infrared radiation in that direction as well. Maybe our target is warm blooded. But seeing how what were looking for is a fish-being, it might be cold blooded." She moved to the edge of the coastline.

She tuned her senses to the infrared to sense sources of heat.

"So...if you didn't really need your lungs, you'd be pretty much okay then, right?" Seras asked EMily.

"But then...how exactly would you be able to do it?" Seras asked Vicky.

"If you had a diving suit, you should be okay. I could probably make a bubble for myself using a radial electric field to repel the water around me. But I want to see what my infrared vision and Vicky sees first."

"Dangit, can't see a thing underwater. Of course, now I remember, water absorbs infrared radiation."

OOC: By bad, @Trilby, I had to do a fact check. Something I found while doing said check:

EMily's infrared vision wouldn't locate the merfolk as, as she had guessed, they were cold-blooded, among other things.

Code:
"I can make my body adapt to where I won't drown."
Vicky curtly explained to Seras.
Code:
"I'll see what I can find then. Keep an eye on these."
She said to EMily as she stripped down to her white sports bra and boy shorts. She then hopped off the nearest dock, sinking like a stone once she hit water.

"Sure thing, Vicky."
She waited to see what Vicky had to present for evidence or clues.

When Victoria entered the water, she would see no people, fishy or otherwise, nearby. If her vision was good, even in the dark conditions underwater, she may see something humanoid floating underneath a ship.

Seras was going to try and talk more with Vicky, but then she jumped into the water. She sighed and settled for using her "third eye" to enhance her vision so she could try and keep an eye on her in the dark water.

"I'm going to try something different. Something based on what sharks do to sense their prey. It may help with the accuracy of my senses." She tip toed into the water and tried sensing for electric activity like a shark would using her feet. "Maybe not the individual electric fields in the air, but perhaps the electric fields in the salt water would produce a more accurate signal."

When she hit the ground, Victoria shut both her eyes and exhaled. After a few seconds, A set of gills sprouted on her neck, and her eyes had adjusted to see as well underwater as she could on land. She calmly breathed in and out a few times to ensure she wouldn't need to make an emergency exit. Satisfied with the results, she opened her eyes and began looking around, slowly walking along the base of the bay. Spotting something moving around a ship nearby, she started making her way towards it to get a better look.

EMily may also sense the humanoid beneath the ship, if she had good range on her electroreception. Unless she could reach the bottom of the bay with it, however, she would struggle to detect any other merfolk.

Victoria would see the figure was floating further out in the bay, where it was deeper, and was carrying a large spear. As Victoria watched, the figure thrust the spear up, into the ship.

"There." She pointed in the direction. "Exactly one humanoid underneath that ship. As to whether or not it's a human diver, I'll wait for Victoria to come back."

OOC: I'm going to head over to the library before it closes to get some pictures scanned. BRB.

Samus had come along too, making sure to pick up her Paralyser before leaving. She knelt at the edge of the water, back in full armour, contemplating jumping in.

"I thought sharks focused on smelling blood?" Seras said to EMily, remembering that little possible fact.

Yep, that's not good. She closed her eyes and took another breath, coating her body in a layer of psionic energy. Once she had finished she ran towards merman to get closer, the energy covering her body allowing her to move through the water with as much resistance as air would put up.

The merman looked at Victoria, then quickly pulled the spear from the ship and thrust it at Victoria. A jet of water sprayed at her, and would likely force her back.

Due to the brand new hole in the bottom, and water that the merman had sprayed into the ship, the vessel began sinking.

"Sharks can sense electrical activity from muscle movements through a set of nodes in their head in addition to sensing blood. It's a testament to their prowess as hunters."
