"I can't say. I never met them." the merman replied. "We have a few methods of reproduction, some faster than others. They all take some time, though."

"What, you mean those grimy criminals?"
Vicky spoke up to the merman.
Code:
"And from what I can tell, you gave these people, at most, 10 minutes before you started slaughtering them indiscriminately. Is that your honest idea of a fair warning?"
She clenched the handle of her knife hard enough to make her knuckles turn white as she spoke.

"Exactly," EMily said in addendum to Victoria, "We were told that your messenger attacked a police officer on sight in front of these three men and gave them the warning."

"Our initial two attacks were both to show our seriousness. Afterwards, we gave the whole night for evacuation." the merman said in response to EMily and Victoria's statements. "It may not be the fairest of methods, but it has worked well for us in the past."

Samus bristled a bit when they mentioned attacking to show their "seriousness", stepping back slightly and her free hand tightening into a fist.

You've stood still and silent for the meeting so far, but pipe in that even where you are from, evacuating millions of people in one night is impossible, not to mention unreasonable. That so many people would leave everything behind for a group of forty is beyond anyone's authority. Even if threatened with destruction, a sizeable amount of people would try to stick it out.

The merman looked at Shara and said, "At the time, we weren't aware of how large this city was, or how many people lived in it. And, normally, we would give more than one night for people to evacuate, but we were slightly desperate and saw no signs of people leaving in large numbers."

"To be perfectly frank, such an attack on a human in these days of peace treaties and the United Nations would be recognized as an unprovoked attack. And that would be taken as a threat, and you intend to destroy whoever comes in your way. Right now you are on the eastern shores of a country called Japan at its capital city of Tokyo. And west of that lies China, one of the largest world powers. And north of that lies Russia, an even larger power." She displayed a holographic map of the world from Photon for everyone on the bay to see. "Both countries are united with Japan. Right now it would be advisable to cease attacking. No world power here practices sacrifices to cause earthquakes or storms, but their weapons and strategy are capable of far more devastation."

"Really? You're just going to admit to a war crime right here?"
Vicky critically replied.
Code:
"I'm gonna need to start hearing some serious reasons why I shouldn't just kill you and all the savage little members of your murder-tribe."

"...The massive, glowing buildings weren't any indication?" Yorick asked.

"Plus America. They're just over the ocean and they're rather close with Japan." Yorick also added to EMily's statement.

The merman looked at the map, then at EMily. "I see your point. I will stop attacking, but my people still need a place to live." He turned to Victoria and said, "I'm offering peace. Killing me helps nobody. And then there's the question of whether you would even succeed." The merman then looked at Yorick. "I've never seen millions of humans live in a single city before. Large, decadent homes for single families, however, are nothing new to me."

You say that there is probably some abandoned island nearby that could serve as a home for the merpeople, and you offer to use your ship to scout for one.

"Easy there, Victoria."

"If you are looking for a place to live, we can help procure a ship for you if your numbers are that small. There are unpopulated spots in the islands of SE Asia, as well as some off shore islands near Japan as Shara has indicated. There are also islands in the Pacific Ocean that are completely uninhabited if you wish to live there. They might be smaller than the ones in SE Asia, but there's no humans. If you wish to live in SE Asia, remember that making good impressions to humans starts with saying 'hi'. Friendship and peace goes a long way in this world. If you wish to expand, you must tell their leader directly in words not with weapons."

Finding its tail wasn't flexible enough to touch its nose with the stinger, the bug thought with more focus on where to go, eventually deciding to retrace its steps. Standing up, the bug stretched its legs and began walking, snatching up leaves and grasses with its pincers as it went and eating these. On occasion, the was sidetracked when it spotted a rodent, where upon the bug would chase after it and eat it if it caught them, but it mostly moved without pause.

Eventually, the bug arived back in the area where the meteor had crashed, then moved to the terminite hill it avoided as a grub, not having forgotten the location thereof. Walking up the termite hill, the bug opened its mandibles and hung out its lengthy tongue. It didn't mask its scent this time, as it desired for the termites to come at it in droves, rather then have them ignore it. It didn't take long before the bug got what it came for, the termites swarming it to defend their mound. Unconcerned of the termites crawling over it, with its exoskeleton protecting it from bites, the bug began sweeping its tongue around just above the ground, licking up the termites, only stopping to lick at its eyes when termites began crawling near them.

After a while of doing this, the bug moved to the mound itself when there were fewer termites crawling over the ground, and dug a hole in it at the top and stuck a tongue in it, sweeping it around to lick up more termites. This continued until the bug broke the termite hill down to the ground, where after it considdered trying to see if there were more termites to eat to be a waste of effort.

When done with eating termites, the bug began walking away to find other things to eat, sniffing the air for prey as it went.

"Oh, you're right, how silly of me. I completely forgot that you all just screwing off and promising not to come back completely makes up for the innocent people you've already killed."
Vicky sarcastically replied, seeming to ignore EMily. Plus I don't trust you monsters to stick to that promise, so better safe than sorry...

The merman thought about EMily's offer, then said, "If accepting this offer will prevent your friend from attempting genocide, then I shall accept."
