It seemed to Alek that splitting up was a terrible idea, but he had Squall and two flashlights, and those were odds good enough to take. Alek looked at his partner, he didn't know much about him, he realized. "So," Alek asked trying to sound casual, "Where are you from, exactly?" Squall gave him a sidelong glance. "Why are you wasting words on a hunt?" He asked, quietly. Alek shrugged. "Our prey has sharper senses than either of us, and we're on his territory. I hardly think that we're giving away a vital advantage." He turned and checked the rear. No, it still wasn't there. Where was it?
