After travelling for an hour, we arrived at the airfield, on the far side from the airport. I had decided that getting a commercial flight would be impossible, and we would try the small private airfield further down the runway. Trouble was, there was a high steel fence around the perimeter.

Swiftrunner had become tolerant of the noise of the dreadful sky machines and had reluctantly followed Micheal towards the airway. "How do these sky machines get us to africa!" Swiftrunner roared over the din.
Alek was shocked when they arrived at the airport. There were planes. That surprised him. He had heard that the Darwinists flew using their hideous monsters to produce hydrogen for lighter-than-air travel. It was supposed to be like some disgusting version of a zepplin. However, there was nothing of the sort in sight, and the planes looked more advanced than anything he'd seen. What was going on? Where, exactly, WAS he?
