Urai and Reginald enter the main reactor complex. After searching for a few minutes they stumble across a series of computers. "The reactor controls are here, so we must be close. I think that some of these systems are still functioning."

Alek didn't much understand much of what the cat was talking about. Amerika entered the war? Were they even discussing the same war? Had the war he was living in already come and gone in this world? Well, if it had, then the Clankers must have won. Thus far he hadn't seen any fabricated Darwinist beasts, his companions notwithstanding, but they might not even be Darwinist creatures, just interdimensional monsters. He would need to try to outfit some of this world's technology to his stormwalker, if he could. Vaguely, Alek wondered just how far four bars of gold would go in this world. "Britain, France, and Russia are the Darwinists." Alek said. "Austria, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire are the Clanker powers. I... I'd rather not discuss the war." And with that Alek turned away, willing himself not to cry, not now.

Clankers... would've won." Joel continued smoking. "Hey. Sorry about your parents. I guess... How are you related to Franz Ferdinand?"
Amaya looked at Rugal still burning on the gound. "I'm going to leave you burning until your ashes." She said and walked away from what at this point, couldn't be called a body. No longer visible from the amount of flames burning him.
the flames continue to burn, not stopping for seven das and seven nights. rugal is done, no matter what he has at this point.

Joel peered out of the window at the land beneath them. "I think we'll be landing soon. I'm going to go to sleep, then in the morning we can come up with a plan, I'll phone Matt about Calley Corp and then we can phone the guy who sent us here and find out where to look. Who has his number?"

Alek cursed himself for his own stupidity. He had given up too much. "No." He said, trying to sound as casual as possible. But he knew the damage was done. What would he do? What would Volger's advice be? As insufferable as the wildcount was, he was one of the few people Alek thought actually had his best interest in mind. He'd be furious if he knew one-eighth of what Alek had done over the last few days. Alek heard Volger as if he were in the room with him. Perhaps an 'accident' could be arranged...
