"I obviously have a reason to be here Shepard, this planet has three items that require the Eldar's attention. Preginald and conscription of the humans of this planet threatans to swell his forces and it has been fortold that one of the planets in his path is an exodite colony, as a result he must be destroyed. Secondly, Chaos has tainted this world and it is our duty to eradicate it. And finally, this one ties the other two objectives together. After our time here we have arrived at the conclusion that this world is not Terra in the past and thus its means the Imperium has yet to discover it. The runes tell of an ancient weapon of the Eldar buried somewhere in this planet. A weapon of immense power from before the fall of the Eldar. It posesses the strenght to annhilate both Preginald and the Chaos taint." He drew closer to Shepard, his helmet still off so she could see his angled features, pointed ears and long black hair. "That is why I am here Shepard and that is why I took my precautions. I couldn't risk the Normandy falling into Chaos hands or Preginald's and the Haywire charges were placed in case you fell to Chaos and the Normandy became a threat."

OOC: The setup of 40k is so that every race has a reason to fight eachother and to create a state of perpetual war for the tabletop game to take place.

"Oh Mr. Royce, you can call me Omega Joe." Omega ran up to him.

"True is Joe is able to tap into other universal versions of himself. They've built many different things since coming here, the only thing limiting them building this ship is the knowledge to do so..."

Before Xanis's response;
Shepard looked down at Omega.
"Huh? Yeah, sure. All you Joes can have full access to the ship. Somehow I doubt the Alliance will mind. I'm kind of busy, so get one of my crew to show around, they'd be more than happy to do so."

After Xanis's response;
Shepard narrowed her eyes at Xanis, wondering if what he had said was a lie. Eventually she said;
"I've faced enemies with at least as strong an effect on the mind as this 'Chaos'. You needn't have taken such hostile precautions. Look, I accept that you were genuinely worried that we could be a threat, but I won't have your bombs and surveillance devices on my ship. Remove them, all of them, and I'll take it as a gesture of good faith. And if the worst comes to the worst and the Normandy needs to be scuttled, I can deal with that myself."

OOC: Obviously from that point of view, war is important to the game. I still think its too damned bleak though.

Xanis put his helmet on and the Guardians did the same. "Very well, Shepard. Rakanis will remove the Haywire charges and I will have Jhanys remove all of the monitoring signals." Xanis waved over the female Guardian who approached and stood beside Xanis, the rest of the Guardians soon followed.

OOC: Yet another reason 40k isn't exactly accesible. Main reason I love it is Space Marines and the incredibly deep (if sometimes sketchy) lore

Shepard nodded, and stepped aside.
"Thank you, Xanis. I wasn't sure that you'd be open to reason. I guess you're free to go." As she spoke, a voice echoed in her head. She frowned, and banished it from her thoughts.

OOC: Ok, thats ominous. Tell me, how does Chaos affect a person's mind? What is it that makes them turn? How can they resist? If it isn't made clear in 40K lore, then I'll assume that its essentially the same as Reaper indoctrination.

"Alright!! I'll even bring some cooks." Omega says as he pulls out a notebook and drews the portal on it, and then grabbing the cup and string.

"Anyone who wants to see an actual spaceship..." Omega Joe was interupted as a flood of Joes jumped form the portal.

"WOW!!" They all started to shout.

Xanis bowed and walked past Shepard towards the consoles he had installed monitoring devices on, Guardians in tow. Rakanis, relieved to be able to move, headed for the Haywire charges and Liliath and Liala continued their meditations. Xanis had despised talking with Shepard and was relieved to be done with it dispite being loathe to reveal so much of his purpose here. He had still kept the most important details to himself though.

At the Bridge Xanis dismisses the three Guardians, who go to occupy their time until needed while Jhanys stood before a hologram working at removing the monitoring devices.

OOC: Feel free to talk to any of the Eldar as they're working. The Guardians rarely get any dialogue due to their role as basic soldier. Random Chaos whispers to your eternal desires and character faults such as pride, greed, lust and such. The dark gods promise reward for deeds performed in their name and that is enough to turn some. Take Spuds character for example, he fights soley to please the Gods and wreaks untold death and carnage in their name in return they give him Unholy protection, inhuman strenght, magical powers and the ultimate goal of all chaos warriors is to be ascended to Daemon Prince and become immortal like their dark masters.

OOC: Hmm. So a very strong willed, fundamentally good person would be able to resist its influence? Thats good news. This Shepard is almost full Paragon, and so would probably not be tempted by the whispers of Chaos.

Some of the Joes slipped on really nerdy glasses and note pads and started to run around the ship, scribbling down notes.

"Hey what's that thing there?" Some of them said to the Rakanis, while others headed down to the engine room... basically anywhere where there was something to be learned the Joes managed to find it.

OoC: Although the Joes are pretty simple minded, I don't think they would be affected by chaos stuff right? or would chaos only make them do mischief.

OOC: Pretty much that however Chaos Marines are Space Marines who have fallen to the whispers of chaos. Space Marines are supposed to be selfless instruments of the Emperors will and even they can fall. Thats why Chaos marines are so evil, its literally like a Saint just turning around and saying "Fuck you god I'm tired of listening to you and doing your stuff and getting nothing in return I'm going over to the dark side where I'm appreciated to hell with the eternal corruption of the soul if I'm going to kill stupid amounts of people I want to be rewarded for it with something other than the wordless gratitude of untold billion."...or something along those lines.

OOC: Ok, well, with both the purpose of facing the Reapers, and her friends and crewmates relying on her, I don't think Shepard would do that. We'll see how things unfold from here.

OOC: Everything is succeptible to Chaos. Its why the Eldar invented the 'Path' system after they accidently gave birth to Slaanesh throught their uncontrolled pursuit of excess and pleasure. The Eldars thoughts manifested in the Warp and the thoughts gained consiousness to become Slaanesh, The keeper of Secrets, The Darkling Prince, Youngest of the Four and Lord of Excess.

From the engine room, Tali had been able to hear most of what had been said between Shepard and Xanis. Now, she was working on the Element Zero core as one of the Guardians removed the charges from the FTL drives. Overcome by curiosity, she looked over at him.
"Do your people really hate all the other races that you've encountered?" she asked.

The Guardian turned to the alien talking to him and said "Hate? No...the younger races merely do not understand. Ulthwe is one of the most tolerant of the craftworlds to the young races but even we have our limits." He disarmed the first charge and moved to another.
