[u]The Next Generation of Soldier[/u]

Professor Howard Soto has indicated that his newest work will change the course of warfare as we know it.  Calling them GRUNTS, he says they are stronger, faster, and more capable than literally any soldier, even without the standard armaments.  He claims to already have several ready to go, and has even sent them to assist in the war effort.  We currently don't know the details behind these new Super Soldiers, but we will be keeping an eye out for them in the battlefield reports.

"That's right. I'm the on duty supervisor." He explained.

"He doesn't know what he's talking about. They are pretty far along, I mostly need to be able to properly test them. Anyway, just who are you? You don't like you're here to work in the quarry?" He asked.

Interesting... I wonder if I could learn more from this Soto character. ...I probably wouldn't want to face one of those GRUNTS though. Legaian mechs seem powerful enough as it is...

As she wanders around, Ness manages to meet up with Savranth and shows him the article on the admiral. "Excuse me, Savranth. Sorry to bother you, but does this name ring a bell to you?"

 

[Furioso]

"Oh I'm just a traveler, but what about you? If you're a great inventor, why are you working in the quarry?"

 

[Chungus]

"I see. In that case, I have some questions I wish to ask you. Firstly, I was told that it is mostly quartz that is mined here, but aside from that, does this mine yield other materials also? Perhaps precious metals, or gems?"

 

[Slenn]

Dal'Sheed had spent some time gathering some materials from D'ni and repairing his deretheni Maintainer suit. Since the door to his hotel room was locked, it was safe to use the linking book back to D'ni.

He went outside of his room all prepared and ready to go. After turning in his key he then exited the hotel to see where everyone was.

OOC: Where is everyone?

Savranth looked at the report. "Idula... That's what.... That's the name of my mother. She's missing?"

"Everyone's gotta eat. Besides, I don't have government backing nor want it. They'd make me work on things that they want me to work on. I'd much rather work on these." The young man said.
"That doesn't tell me who you are..."

"We might get a few things here and there, but nothing to write home about. Certainly not enough to earn any good money on them." The supervisor replied.

 

[Furioso]

"My name's Rita, what would the government have you worki-" As Rita said this she leaned against one of the buildings, at which point a piece of it fell off and hit her in the head, knocking her out

OoC: Man time flies, I have to leave for work in 10 minutes, so I had to wrap that up

The Rookie wandered around the shopping district, eventually coming across Cynane. He waved in greeting.

OoC @Slenn: Loki and Rita are now in Granite Pass. Everyone else is still where they were.

"So there is no one in paticular who is interested in any of the materials save for the quartz. Well, in a average week, how much of these other materials are mined?"

OOC: Fun fact. Quartz is a piezoelectric material, meaning it can conduct electricity under pressure. In fact, smashing quarts against one another crystal produces electric sparks.

Also, @Saltyk. I'm assuming Rockbyrd is a Xapathian base since it's on the northern half of the map. Or is it Legaian because it sends its artifacts to Fourside?

Ness nods slowly. "I only learned of this today when I read the article. ...And judging by your reaction, you don't know where she may have disappeared to."

 

[Saltyk]

The young man picked up Rita. "Hey, you okay?"

"Of what the minor material? Just a little. If you're asking about the quartz, a couple tons."

 

[Furioso]

OoC: And now I'm leaving

Rita continued to be unconscious

"Of course, I don't." Savranth replies.
He thinks for a moment, placing a hand to his chin.
"She must be on some secret mission, though..."

OoC @Slenn: For that reason it's used to power Legaian machines.
And yes, Rocbyrd is a Xiphatian town.

"I see. Well then, say that I was interested in buying gold ore, would you be willing to sell? And if so, how much would it cost me?" Loki asked. He briefly looked over his should when he heard another noise, and saw that Rita was laying unconscious on the ground. Caring little, he looked back to the supervisor.

"No, I don't think we have any gold. Come back another day, bub." The supervisor suggested.

OoC: @Slenn: So it works to suggest that a special type is used in Legaian machines, then. Something that Zeph suggested.
And Rockbyrd is a Xiphatian town. It only sent a few artifacts to Legaia just prior to the war 20 years ago.

"Now how to get to Rockbyrd quickly?" He thought out loud. "I don't want to take the car without the others and leave for an indeterminate amount of time. Hmmm..." He walked outside of the city to where the car was.

Ness raises an eyebrow for a moment. "I'll admit that that does make some sense... but where do you think she would be carrying this mission out? ...A town in Xiphatia?"

 

[Slenn]

@Saltyk. I want to quiz Zeph if he knows the origin of the name of the purple version of quartz, amethyst. He'd get a kick out of the answer.
It's possible. Quartz is used in plenty of devices today such as watches and calculators.

@Nailik. I said it could conduct, not power.

"Ahhh... forget it. I think I'll take a stroll or something. Sketch some more for my report on this world." He said. And so he went off in a direction away from the city, about a mile away in the westerly direction.

"A shame. But, if you had, I take it from your reaction you would be willing to sell. So, I would like to know how much you would ask. Of course, the price would depend on the size of the usable ore, but let us take a lump the size of a pea as a base."
