Lyra shrugged when Rita didn't respond, taking that as a yes. Now, the only question was whether she wanted to keep a hold of the stone to show off, or whether to give it to the homeless man for the reward. Shrugging, she headed out to find a nice bench to sleep on.
Athena reaches into a pouch on her uniform and takes out a small crystal, which she holds to her side, as it turns into a silver staff. "Stand back."
She says as she quickly spins the staff around and over her head, then brings it down as she steps forward with her right foot. The water before them seemed to split. She brought the staff up and the water erupted up, forming walls. These walla slowly crystallized into ice. Before them was a pathway into the lake, leading directly to a small gently glowing stone about 100 feet off the shore.
Athena looks back at Rita. "You can grab that stone for the girl, now."
She says as she quickly spins the staff around and over her head, then brings it down as she steps forward with her right foot. The water before them seemed to split. She brought the staff up and the water erupted up, forming walls. These walla slowly crystallized into ice. Before them was a pathway into the lake, leading directly to a small gently glowing stone about 100 feet off the shore.
Athena looks back at Rita. "You can grab that stone for the girl, now."
Jessica raised an eyebrow at Yukino suddenly walked up. She lifted her right arm, finally moving it from its position firmly at her side where it had remained for the entire conversation she had with Sasha, and waved it at Yukino before returning it to her side. She's not a native to this place either. "Possibly. The depends on what you need." She replied to the foxgirl. Upon noticing her ears, Jessica's own twitched a bit in curiosity.
Jessica looked back at Sasha and sighed. "Whatever, it's fine. I'm just annoyed that apparently I'll be lacking for company in the next step of my investigation. I might just have to put it off altogether." She replied, sounding half-heartedly reassuring as she was still somewhat annoyed. "And I know that stuff explodes if it comes in contact with Xiphatian magic. I can't just assume it does the same for all magic, otherwise I'd be terrible at my job." She continued.
She sniffed at the air a few times and said, "And there's that smell again. It almost makes me want to barge into the Mess Hall and demand some of what they're making in there."

Yukino gave Sasha a little smirk. [color=bb66bb] "Of course you can help me... Why can't you be a bit more cooperative like this lady here, hm?" [/color] She turns toward Jessica, her unsettling smile increasing slightly. [color=bb66bb] "I just need to find a woman with a white fedora... She and I are old friends, you could say." [/color]

As Rita walked along the floor of the lake, she would notice that it was still wet and muddy, but there was no loose water on the ground. Nor were there any fish or creatures, having apparently been swept up in the water. She could look into the ice, as it acted almost like distorted glass, and view the fish and creatures in the water as they moved about. For all intents and purposes, it was a rather beautiful thing to behold, and had a feeling almost like an aquarium. As she crossed the rocks she would eventually find the lightly green glowing stone on the lake floor.
As Jessica sniffed at the air, she got a whiff of the aura that Yukino was putting off. "Now, when you say you and this woman are old friends, do you mean actual old friends old friends, or 'old friends' as in you two are actually antagonistic with one another?" She asked, using her hands to make an air quotes gesture on the fourth mention of the phrase "old friends". She looked Yukino straight in the eyes as she spoke to her, staring so hard Yukino might feel like she was trying to bore a hole through her eyes and straight to her brain with such a stare.
Nothing would happen as Rita ran back. Once she was out of the path, Athena waved her left hand and the ice rather suddenly turned back to water as the water rather violently came back together to return to normal, in what one might describe as an explosion or water. She then held the staff out to the side as it turned back to a crystal and placed it back in her pouch.
"Very good. You may take that glowstone back to the girl, now. I'll be returning to my room, now." She said as she started walking back to the room.

"Why would that make a difference? Magic is magic isn't it?" Sasha asked, not knowing the differences that were discusses with Tiberius' group.
Hearing Jessica and Yukino's reaction, Sasha gulped. 'You've overstayed your welcome, just take her kind offer of going to the rest before this gets messy.'
"If you are still offering the move to the other group, I would love to accept." She said, notably more forceful in her voice than before.

Yukino stares straight back at Jessica, first with a look of slight confusion that turned into a look of amusement. She even begins chuckling a bit. [color=bb66bb] "That face -snicker- of yours.... I like it. As for your question, it's a little bit of both. We both have worked together toward the same goal, our approaches just differed a bit. My methods more than usually yielded results , but that's a discussion for another time. You need not worry, I won't harm her in anyway." [/color] She says the last part with a sly smirk.
When Rita returned with the stone, Mint took one look at it and happily took it up. "Yes. This was it. Thank you, miss!" She ran over to Thyme, who was about to take the last of the dishes to be cleaned, with the stone. "Daddy, look what the nice lady got Mint."
Thyme smiled at her and patted her on the head. "That's lovely sweety. How about I make it into a necklace for you?"
"Really, daddy?"
"Of course, you are my little Angel, right? But shouldn't an Angel say something to the nice lady?"
"Uh-huh!" Mint said as she ran back over to Rita. "Thank you, Missy. This made me very happy."

Jessica shook her head at Sasha and said, "Nope. Not all magic is the same. Magic from one place can act completely differently than magic from another place. That's one of the first lessons of Arcanology right there. I can think of a few reasons off the top of my head right now as to why Legaian technology acts the way it does."
She looked back at Yukino, stared her right in the eyes again for a few moments, then relented and sighed. "Fine, I'm going to trust you on this one." Better keep my eye on her though, just in case.
Seeing that both Yukino and Sasha were ready to move, she said to the both of them, "Alright, follow me." She gestured over to one of the concrete buildings with her head, then walked towards it. She walked up to the side of the building, then took a piece of grey colored chalk. She closed her eyes and absentmindedly twirled the piece of chalk around her fingers as she seemed to focus on something, then began to draw a circle on the side of the building. Once she had drawn a circle about 6 feet in diameter, she took a few steps back, then focused again. She pointed at the chalk circle on the wall, then a beam of light leaped from her finger-tip and touched the wall in the exact center of the circle. A blinding flash of light shone out from the wall, which Jessica had anticipated and shielded her eyes beforehand. After the flash had subsided, the area within the chalk circle seemed to have been replaced by a pool of blue light with a slowly swirling white spiral. Jessica touched the light, and her hand seemed to sink into the wall. Good so far. She entered the light completely, and to everyone around seemed to have disappeared into the wall.

Jessica then appeared in a flash of blue light in the room that Ness and Echo shared, where the two were both currently sleeping. She quickly looked herself over, then sighed with relief. All good. She then disappeared from the room in a flash of white light.

Jessica reappeared at the military base, standing to the side of the blue light she had made. "There we go. Now just step through the Teleportation Circle, if you will." She said to Yukino and Sasha, motioning towards the portal she had just made on the wall. She continued to idly twirl the piece of chalk around in her left hand.
She looked back at Yukino, stared her right in the eyes again for a few moments, then relented and sighed. "Fine, I'm going to trust you on this one." Better keep my eye on her though, just in case.
