She discontinued her trance as she opened her eyes. She blinked twice as she allowed for her vision to recalibrate itself.
"I'm used to feeling invisible things. And I'm also used to blocking off my pain receptors through the same method. I'm an adept at sensing electricity. I knew that if I were to feel the presence of blood flow from another person, I would have to close off most of my senses to find it. I also remembered that I only had to focus on one spot, and my senses were heightened in that direction. I could feel her heartbeat, and hear the flow of blood."

"In a fight, you would almost certainly die." the man said. "You've limited your senses and focused them on one target, making you vulnerable. This ability is not a replacement for other sense; it is something that works with them. All of them. And it is something that takes a lot of time to learn, especially for a human."

EMily shook her head.
"Pardon me, but you have to start somewhere, don't you? This is certainly a lot of work for something that you put off as something so basic to your fighting techniques. I had to close off my other senses to get the idea. I would assume in time that I could heighten this sense without blocking off the others. I don't need my sense of smell or taste in a fist fight after all."

 

[Silence]

Anik wondered what exactly should have been impressive about this new technique, but she still remembered that she could try to feel the blood flow of an opponent ... if it didn't get in the way of the other tricks she had to feel movement, that was.

In the direction of Jane she said: "You definitely have to tell me what was in there, later." Why does it always have to be books?

"I suppose you do. I've never taught this to a human before." the man replied. "The basis of our fighting style is in reading the flows of your opponents' energies, because you need to read them to manipulate them. And don't dismiss the sense of smell. If someone is hiding out of sight from you, and isn't moving, you can still locate them by their scent.."

"I dunno why it has to be a secret. I mean, I'm not going to judge you for being a little pervert." Jane said, continuing her teasing.

"I see. I understand now where you're coming from. I was thinking that you might have started out with how to throw a punch or a kick, but I guess the circumstances are quite different.

And, to be perfectly frank, humans have a shoddy sense of smell in comparison to other creatures. Usually martial artists on my world aren't using their sense of smell. The way I usually find something invisible is to search for heat. Even if something is cold to the touch, it still gives off energy that comes from heat."

The man held out both of his hands, showing his slightly blue palms to EMily. "That might also be a useful starting point. Punch one of my hands."

She chuckled. "Don't be surprised if this is feeble."

She did the best she could for an nonathletic physics nerd. She turned her torso back to give her some extra torsion as she folded in her clenched arm and hand. She turned, letting the torsion move her should forward and unclench her arm so that her fist extended out as far as possible.

Hillary stopped as well, looking back up to Timea and after a moment she raised her hands holding onto the strings. "Yes please." She replied, somewhat muffled while she still held the tube in her mouth. People have fingerprints for a reason, and while reflective as no one would believe, Hillary's gripping potential at the moment was surely lacking.

"Let's just say our little strategist has quite the imagination." Jane said, being coy.

Kneeling out before Hillary as she held out the charm, Timea took hold of both ends of the string. She wrapped the string around Hillary's wrist once so the charm wouldn't dangle about as much, then had the two ends overlap. Placing a finger on the point where they met to prevent it from slipping, Timea then laid a simple knot into the string, showing Hillary the motions of it.

"And there we go", she said when finished. "A nice accessory to go with your shinyness~"

"Thank you~" Hillary replied back as she held out her hand to look at the charm, taking the tube in the other. "So, I was thinking, are we gonna have to get these other people presents? If someone forgot about them, they might be lonely?" Hillary asked.

"You at least have the right idea." the man stated, as EMily struck him. He would then adjust her fingers and arm as necessary, before going through the basics of punching with her.

Robin said nothing, pulling up his hood to hide his face.

As Topaz suddenly popped out of nowhere from behind The Comet, he let out a shriek. "AHH! No! People don't do it in front of other people. It's weird! You don't want to see it anyway!" He also gathered around everybody about Robin's book. His only comment was a raised eyebrow and a "Dude, that's just weird."

Heno made a hearty laugh, and slapped Robin across the back. "It sounds like some one has been reading too many scrolls of 'Secret Knowledge'"

"I don't know, do you?" Jane asked Matilda.

"Not talking about punching. Well, maybe. Depends on what Robin likes. Or thinks we like." she said to Cybil.

Homer went over to pat Robin on the back.

"If it turns out my little theory is correct, and doing that will give us the ability to move between worlds, I just might do that", Timea answered, standing up. "But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There isn't much point in making plans when we have no idea what will await us at the end of the road."

With that said, Timea began walking again. "Now, I'd still like to know a bit more about this place we're going. So, here's what I'd like you to do. Go find someone, and ask them if they know where we could take a look at a map of the area north of here. Can you do that?"
