Another elf turned to EMily and explained, "We're supposed to take only what is offered to us by the gods. The fruit and leaves and so on. Nothing else. No animals. Taking a life to sustain your own is the worst sin possible. But simply eating food from a source other than the gods is sinful; the gods provide, and by taking food from elsewhere, you're implying you deserve more than what the gods offer."

"So your food grows inside this hollowed out tree you call, 'Videnavya.' But she has a point. What if there's a misunderstanding of your scriptures to enforce your lower status? A tyrant or a dictator doesn't just use weapons to create fear. Some of the most powerful things they can use to bolster what they like and weaken what they dislike come from words."

"Thank you." Robin said with a smile. He went back to the others, catching up on what he had missed. "Ideally we'll want to minimise contact and not kill anyone. Is there a way to sneak in?"
"And, anyway, it doesn't really make that much sense- Assuming each elve produces two offsprings every generational cycle, trees still grow on a fairly linear path, so, in time, the fact that the tree doesn't double in size every generational cycle means that, in time, Videnavya's ability to produce food for all of you will fail.
