"Like I said, nobody's eager to find out." the man stated. "And it applies to all creatures from outside of the ocean. Birds just don't go into the water."

"If you want to be an 'anti-pirate', I'd suggest finding a mercenary ship and joining their crew."

The bartender would pour Homer and Shara their drinks, and charge them a few coppers.

 

[Kirke]

You thank the bartender and pay him from a small pouch of coins, noting that that was most of what you had. As you begin to drink, you try to listen in on the conversations around you to feel out the mood.

 

[Chungus]

"I see. So, if I wanted to get to the mainland, I would need one of these charms. Where could I get one of these?" Timea asked next, shifting her weight a little. "More over, could they be carried on one's person, or meant to be fastened to ships?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"You can get them in the temple. But all the ships here have one in some form, so you wouldn't need one of your own." the man stated.

Shara would find that the tavern had a fairly calm atmosphere. Most of the people drinking had just arrived in the city, and thus were tired and relaxing before they slept. The early time of day meant the tavern was almost completely empty.

 

[Demonjazz]

Heno wandered off towards the dock. He went up to a random fisherman, and asked him to where a mercenary ship short on people.

The fisherman would point further down the dock, at a fairly large ship. "They might be short a few folk." he stated.

 

[Chungus]

"I see... " Timea commented, being quiet for a bit as she thought some things through. "Well, on to some questions about the mainland", she stated eventually, snapping her fingers. "Starting with, what direction is it in from here, and how long would it take to sail from here to there?"

 

[Kirke]

You sigh and focus instead on your beer, enjoying the taste of it for the first time in months. You also begin to ponder what to do next, but decide to put that off until you can speak with the others.

"The mainland is due east, and how long it takes depends on stuff like the wind and what port you're heading for. Maybe a full day, at most." the man replied.

 

[Chungus]

"I see. Well, I've just about taken up enough of your time, but before I go, I have one last question", Timea stated. While she had a fair number of other questions to ask, she felt she should ask too much of any one person, partially because she knew no one would be very happy doing nothing but standing around and answering what questions Timea could throw at them, and partially because she felt asking too many of one person would reveal too much about herself.

"I've noticed a distinct lack of much negativity in response to my companion, here," Timea began, idly motioning over to where Sibylla was standing. "Are non-human people common around here?"

 

[Demonjazz]

Heno strode over to the large ship on the dock. He struck a pose and shouted to the people there. "Hey! I heard you need man that is good at fighting! I will take you all on to get on ship if I need to! You even get first person, ya!"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"We get a few Vesh'Rah through here. None like your friend, though. Mostly, it's escaped slaves from Calibeth, or slaves liberated from pirate ships." the man explained.

 

[Outisakanobody]

Homer put speedy on the counter. He stared at his drink, not sure what to do with it. "Thank you." he said to Shara,wanting to at least be polite.

The sailors around the ship all turned to look at Heno, a little surprised by his proclamation. After a few seconds, a man around 190cm (6'2") tall approached Heno and raised his hands. Aside from being humanoid, this man was unlike any human; he was covered in fur, had a long tail and a snout filled with sharp teeth. "Fist fight to first blood, then? I promise I won't use my claws."

Matilda would walk a short distance from the market, then wait by a wall for someone to decide what the group should do next.

 

[Chungus]

At the man's response, Timea let out a soft "hmm." She obviously had no idea what Vesh'Rah were, but said she wouldn't keep the man any longer, and that's what she would do. "Well, you've been ever so helpful. Thank you for your time!" she said happily, then walked away. Timea would spend a few moments getting Sibylla's thoughts on the things that have been said, then looked for the two pale figures, looking to see if they had moved.

Robin had followed Shara to the tavern, wanting to see the town. He sat awkwardly, not really comfortable with the atmosphere of the place.

Timea would notice that the two pale figures were standing in the same position as before.

Matilda decided to follow Robin, as she didn't have anything better to do. The arrival of both Robin and Matilda would catch the attention of the patrons. In particular, they would be looking at Robin's hair and Matilda's eyes. The group may hear a woman whisper, "Are those the two you were talking about?" to the people she was drinking with.

Homer saw Robin come in. "Hi Robin. Do you drink?" he asked.

 

[DotSlash]

While the group was milling about the town, the white-haired girl they'd passed by finally made her way past the town gates and began to look around, blowing out a small puff of smoke from her mouth. She'd begin to meander toward the tavern. At least that would be familiar to her... and likely some sort of answer to where the hell she ended up.

 

[Silence]

Speedy sniffed at a few drinks, making a "blergh" sound, and asked the barkeeper for a water.
