Northern Road - Day 6 - 08:21

"My, my. Such a curious one~", Timea said, in a non-malicious teasingly tone. She then snapped her fingers again, and gave Anik another light poke, this time against the side of her head. "But let's have one thing at a time, hmm?

But, yes. The vocal calls are ever so loud. It vaguely sounds like a lion's roar - the kind that comes from deep within the throat, but with more reverberance to it. I won't be demonstrating it, though. The colour spots aren't letters, but words. In a manner of speaking. A spoken language like this, and a visual one like mine are so different, they can't really be compared, I feel.

Whatever the case, I don't change the texture of my hide for it, no."

While she had the thought to, Timea decided to not explain how her shapeshifting factored into the language.

"Both probably, but let's focus on the first for now. You managed to focus yourself and access the weave again, and with quite the result." Sam said, standing. "How are you feeling?"

"See, the thing is I opened the throat of one of these 'nice guards', so I'm in here for a good long while whatever you tell them. So you can stick yourself up where the sun doesn't shine. Perhaps you can find a heart there, too. I hear you lost yours. - With that, you push the pillow back in the slot and hold it there.

But then, well, they got through my defence and I began to lose my concentration. By the end I felt exhausted. I still do, to some extent, and I've got one hell of a headache."

"Oh you've killed someone? I think you may be a bigger threat to peoples lives here than I am. Also, isn't a joke about me missing an organ a tad hypocritical coming from someone with a prosthetic arm? You're an astonishingly cruel person." said Yeager, who sounded hurt, but was smirking as he spoke, not that Shara could see that.

"So you can maintain it as long as you focus and are active, but it drops when you're hurt and you feel like shit afterwards." Sam mused. "Perhaps there is a way to dull the pain, so you aren't knocked out of it so easily."

Anik winced a little as Timea poked her against her head, not having expected being touched there, but she had a smirk nonetheless. "I can't help it. Sorry."

Listening to Timeas explanation, she answered, after Timea had finished: "Well, at least I can kind of imagine a lion's roar. Understandable that you won't demonstrate it, if it is this loud.

So, a word roughly equals a color. If I imagine it like different textures, each of them meaning something specific ... can I think of it like that? Even though you don't really change your skin. It can probably be really useful ... or beautiful? Would others call that beautiful? ... "

She walked silently, not knowing how she should feel about this. Finally, she said: "The other things I asked about are probably better for me to imagine."

"It isn't a 'mode', it is a way of thinking, a way to see the world the way it really is. I have seen a real master at work, and he did not dull the pain because nobody could even touch him. No, what I need is to 'see' the 'weaves' more clearly. Then I might be able to influence my own 'weaves'."

Veketta - Day 6

"No, Vesh'Rah ambassadors are not allowed in the Empire." the bear replied. "Or, more specifically, they aren't acknowledged as ambassadors and can be enslaved just as easily as citizens."

The wolf continued swinging at the Doctor, then stopped for a moment and asked, "What is a spell?" clearly confused.

"While we can't rule out the possibility of the royal family continuing the empire, either until the sun can be brought back, if that is possible, or simply out of a desire to remain in power... you're absolutely right that it could push the territories of the empire closer together and solidify the royal family's continued control." Ferren replied. "I hadn't considered that. Out of curiosity, do you know which members of the royal family died?"

"Hmm. I suppose you can think of it as textures, and each of them being a different word, yes. I suppose a anagram... " Timea began to explain, but trailed off as she considered "anagram" wasn't the word she was looking for. "No, that's not quite right. Uhh... a good comparison would be harsher words that would be closer to red are sharper textures, while more subdued words that would be closer to blue are smoother ones." After saying this, Timea let out a small laugh. "Not the most elegant explanation, but oh well."

"The other point, then. I can't really understand animals, no. I haven't studied them enough to really be familiar with the languages. I've mostly studied birds of prey, and big cats, and can make an educated guess as to what a call might mean, but it wouldn't really be understanding it. Other creatures, I probably wouldn't understand any better than anyone else." After explaining this, Timea was quiet for a moment, then asked;

"You said you can imitate calls, too? Let's hear it~"

"Hmm. I understand your reluctance..." Robin noted, then looked to the one talking to the Doctor. "It's a type of magic, like rituals."

"Ah, I see. The ebb and flow of combat... I've used something similar myself." Sam commented. "The question for now is how to see more clearly. Boosting your awareness and senses somehow perhaps?"

"It kind of makes sense ... " Anik said to the explanation.

"Hmm, fair enough." she added, after Timea had explained how she guessed what animal sounds meant, kind of disappointed (but not too much) that Timea did not really talk to animals, like someone in a fairy tale would. "The sounds I can make are not really the same as the animals make them, but they are close enough to fool people at night."

With that, Anik first made the sounds of a cricket by whistling in a certain way, which was similar to what she had done the first night, when she went out from Palladein into the desert. She then started to make different sounds a cat would make. "Meow." When she arrived at purring, she suddenly began to laugh. "Kind of awkward doing this here." she said.

Both of the sounds would probably sound like the real animals to Timea, as her hearing was not better than average.

"Yeah, exactly. If you invade now, territories that might have been working up the nerve to leave the Empire on their own could very well come to see the Empire's soldiers as their protectors against outside threats. They'd be less eager than ever to throw off Empire ownership." Cybil replied with a nod. "But no, I don't think I can say for sure who is still alive or dead."

Timea listened closely to the different noises Anik made, clapping her hands thrice once Anik finished. "Why, that's not bad at all. Ever so accurate~" she said cheerily, indeed not being to tell the sounds were produced by a human, if she didn't know better.

After, a smirk crept across Timea's face, seeing an opportunity to tease Anik some more. "If you're worried about getting lewd reactions, though, some of those cat noises were mating calls. You could have a very confused and disappointed tomcat looking at you with that~"

"Ha! Need to learn the human mating call instead, then." Anik laughed. "But how do you know the mating calls of stray city cats, hmm?" Grinning, Anik began purring again, just to tease Timea back.

"Observations, my dear kitty-cat. When learning a language entirely unlike your own, something that's linked easily recognisable behaviour is the best place to start from" Timea answered in a tone that made it hard to tell whether she was serious or not.

"*Purrrr*. Hmm, that does make sense. I should try to figure out what animal is following me depending on which kind of *meow* I make, next time I *meow* in the city. *Nya*?" Anik said, using the imitated sounds in the middle of her sentence.

"Anyways, these are not the only two animal sounds I can do, just my favourite ones. I am even able to see with them. And this. *chirp* she added, imitating some bird-sounds.

"That's the other thing that's been bugging me..." said Yeager, mostly ignoring her last comment. "Vhat the hell is everybody's obsession with my heart. You people do realize that if someone is without a heart it doesn't actually mean that they have a heartless personality, right?

"Well, I wouldn't really recommend doing this in any city. People would likely assume you've lost your mind", Timea commented, speaking normally again. She listened to Anik mimicking a bird, smiling at the sound. She likely wouldn't recognise the type of bird song and so couldn't judge the accuracy, but appreciated the tone.

"You say you can see by imitating these languages? The same way doing those clicks you make lets you, I suppose?"

"Indeed, that is the case. And you already have guessed the reason why I use clicks instead of these sounds, most of the time. They are also more precise, to be fair.

I weird persons out enough by doing these clicks. But using animal sounds has its uses, especially at night."
Anik answered.

"I wondered about how well these sounds would work instead of your clicks", Timea commented, then let out a snicker. "I do doubt you would lure any animal over by using their language as a navigational tool, however. It would be like someone walking around repeating "yes" over and over. Ever so awkward!

How do you do it, though? Imitate these different languages? I had thought the human voice was incapable of producing such different sounds."
