Just a thought: If we would fight together, and learn about our strengths, we could defend ourselves better. For example, that I could know to trust your breaths going into a certain direction. Combine what we can do. If ... you not rather fight alone, or think me to weak to fight alongside you." she said.

Shara would find the man to be inhuman, and well versed in various schools of sorcery. The man looked to the guard for one moment, then turned back to Shara. "Wait." He reached out towards the man, his hands glowing green, and made a motion like he was pulling a length of rope. The guard would feel compelled to start stumbling towards him.

Though you can't see what is happening, you know it wont be good for the guard. You also recognize that the man is not what he seems, but beyond that you cannot tell. You get to your feet, taking a combat stance and readying yourself.

"Okay", Timea agreed, speaking at normal speaking levels again. "I thought of coming up with fighting strategies together, but if the observers are watching, this would just make us predictable. I'm not sure this would do more good than harm."
After this, Timea paused. "You can stop singing, if you want, now, Hillary", she then called out, looking to Hillary.
Looking straight ahead, she pulled her arm away from Anik, saying, "That was probably the closest thing you'll get to getting a hug from me, Anik. But, would you like me to show you what my kind does to show affection, instead of hugging?"

"It would be this", Timea announced, snapping her fingers just to make sure she wouldn't startle Anik. Holding Anik's hair up, Timea leaned to the side, and rubbed her nose against Anik's neck, below the jaw, in a short up and down motion. When finished, she lowered the hair. "It's usually longer than that, and not as close to the head. But I think you understand the idea~"

Anik giggled when being rubbed with the nose. "Well, it certainly does show a kind of affection. I should try this with other humans, see what they think about it." she said, jokingly.
"Ahh." she sighed, happily. "So much to learn, and not even needing books. I never would have guessed.
Are we walking back to Veekhuta, or to where are we going right now?" she asked, after thinking for a few seconds.

The guard did as the mystery magic man made him, with minimal resistance. He was a little startled by this fact, and more than that, was worried. As soon as the spell wore off, he called out to the other guards, and went for his blade.

"That sounds like Kerras Cavre'Rah, the clan leader for the Cavre'Rah and Utaranna." the innkeeper replied. His tone became more sombre as he continued. "His feelings aren't wholly unjustified. The city was burned down by Kaisiri mercenaries hired by the Calibethans. His family feel responsible for failing to protect them. Things looked to be getting better... and then Kaisiri pirates began attacking our ships and enslaving Vesh'Rah on them. And Utaranna is the closest port to Kaisir, so you can imagine where those ships came from."
After a short pause, the innkeeper continued, "That said, I believe Kerras was behind the Calibethan crown prince's death, and that's what got slavery legalised in the empire. So he's somewhat responsible, depending on how you see things."

The man had reached behind him as the guard was pulled forward, summoning a jagged blade out of nowhere. As soon as the spell wore off and the guard tried calling to his allies, the man swung to lop off his head.
The doctor paused from a moment before continuing " can I ask you where he is? I want to talk to him."

"In the early days, all knowledge was passed on by just word of mouth", Timea responded to Anik's second comment, smiling to herself.
"Anyway, I was meaning to discuss this with you. There are no ports here in the north, so Veekhuta would be our first stop. After that, however, I had thought to go to either Ootav-ek-kay, or Oo-taran-nah. Which are to north-west, and north-east of Utarra, respectively. We'd get to either of these places sooner than we'd reach Utarra. But, we don't know for sure if ships actually sail to Calibeth from there.
So, what do you think: Should we save time and head to either of these places, but risk needing to make the long trip, after all? Or just take certainty over uncertainty?"

I have no idea what kind of Vesh'Rah the ones we have met until now were. Could you tell me about what they look like? For example, the three in the pool, what were they?"

"Well, I don't know what name applies to what kind of Vesh'Rah, but--" Timea answered, continuing to mention what type of animal matched the Vesh'Rah in the pool. She had thought to describe their features, realised this would be lost on Anik.
After giving the mentions, Timea said, "It's a little strange, but for all the talk of Vesh'Rah disliking humans, I've seen no animosity towards you, not even distrustful stares. I wonder if we've just been quite lucky so far, or my theory that being with me, while I look like this helps mitigate distrust. Or maybe both."
