"Not children, unless they have no parents. Teenagers and young adults mostly, who search for their place in the world."

Inspecting the corpse, Dalahar would find a metal pin on the man's shirt, concealed by his jacket. Since it had been miraculously undamaged, Dalahar would see it was circular, with "EF" engraved on it.

"Well, not to play the devil's advocate here, but you have to consider a few factors. Teenagers, like myself, are uncertain and afraid because they are developing. Both biologically and emotionally. Most of them, usually the younger ones, are not aware of this unless they are educated on what's going on. This is a difficult time for them. Teenagers who are unhappy with their lives, may not already be so keen on the idea of living a nomadic lifestyle.

I know you offered the gift of them being accepted into your tribe if they were extremely depressed. But there are people out there that are medically diagnosed with depression. And this is more deep than just feeling sad with a current lifestyle.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go ahead with what you want to do. I just think there may be other factors you're not aware of."

Due to how the possession had affected Dalahar several of his organs had changed and become useless. He had lost the ability to consume brain matter and assimilate its memories and so that option wasn't viable anymore. He ran his finger over the pin. "EF, earth first." He said coldly. "Insurgent, maybe operating alone or in a cell. Unique combat ability. Flashy, draws attention." He looked at Ed. "how'd this happen? How'd he approach?"
while he waited for a response he wondered if the authorities would respond or if he should vox them

"No offense, but I already have a little bit experience in this. While I had help, most of the time, but still.

And yes, I can try to feel what kind of sadness the person has, if they are depressed or just want out. If the former, I would try help fixing what keeps them down, or maybe recommend seeing a psychiatrist, but if they don't want to, I at least had something that would maybe help them as well. Natural medicine, so to speak. It helped at least myself a lot, I was very confused and very down for some time.
... and it's not weed, if you were thinking that."
Anik explained, chuckling at the last part.

The young man thanked the guards, then headed outside to find Edward and Dalahar poking at a charred corpse. Unsure of how to process the scene, combined with his new surroundings, all he could really say was "...What the hell?!"

"Could be some form of biological weapon or the technology the authorities told us had bled into this world." He glanced at the new
Arrival. "Hell of a time to show up."
He looked back at the corpse, wondering what drove s man to such lengths. "What could he gain from this? More importantly how does it benefit EF? A seemingly random attack. I'd stay on guard"

"Yeah, they're all human. Or, they should be. They're native to this universe, at the very least." a guard told Ed. "No idea what this guy is."

While most of the civilians had backed off, the news crew nearby had started reporting again, catching the tail end of the fight on camera.

She smiled.
"No offense taken. I just didn't know anything about your experience. And don't worry, I'm aware of herbal medicines. I know I've been treated with herbal medicines before. Don't remember liking the taste very much."

"As for myself, I am not quite sure what to do. I figured until my universe has been located, I could take up exploring. I've never visited Earth before. Now I know that this is a different Earth from my universe's Earth. But the food and architecture here matches, to some degree, to what I've seen in history classes."

Anik chuckled. "Yeah, the taste really is questionable. But it brings benefits, I did not know existed.

Exploring can be a lot of fun, but it's honestly not what I like to do most, because, well ... I feel like I'm missing half of the stuff. I don't really know if it matches my world, I kinda assume it does, because of the names I heard.
And the food is similar, too. Any idea what you would like to explore? The earth is huge, and even this city could have a lot of different things, especially because of this interdimensional port they have."

"You just answered your own question. The city is a good start. Look at some museums, paintings. Certainly there's history there before the interdimensionals. Maybe visit a few parks or regions that haven't been touched yet by this interdimensional activity."

The young man ignored the girly comment. "Oh yea? For self defense, it looks like you might have overdone it a little bit."

"The body can't stay here. Either that or the cameras leave." Dalahar said. He looked at Ed "you should leave too." He nodded to the cameras. "It doesn't look good. Inter dimensional standing over the burned body of what appears be a human."
He looked at the guard as he stood up "Regardless what people saw, I'm sure it will be distorted."

"... paintings? Alright." Anik said, sceptical. "So you are very interested in the things others might fight ... mundane? I would think many would be quite intrigued by ... mages, or other technology, what is or was not known on earth. Maybe different species?"

"It may be mundane for you, but I'm essentially 1500 years in the past relative to where I'm from.

The reason why history is important to me, Anik, is because it tells us how we got here. Why are we having these conflicts? How did people avoid similar ones in the past? How did people create similar problems? How did people solve them back then? Their answers may help us figure out what to do.

Technology and extraterrestrials are things I've seen several times over in my life. I live in an age where the warp gate is now common and commercial ships can travel to and fro between planets. I am a product of 34th century technology. My ancestors were genetically engineered to produce fusion power for colonists. So I guess that may be why the strange creature part of this whole experience doesn't really phase me."

And magic? I guess I'm neutral about the subject. Mainly because I just read about it in fairy tales."

"Even if the truth is reported, Earth First won't be happy when they find out it's one of their members. They'll probably assume you set him on fire somehow." the guard replied. He then looked at Ed and said, "You didn't, right?"

The young man crossed his arms. "So the guy using fire magic burned himself to death? Either I'm not getting the whole story, or that guy is the worst mage I've ever heard of."

"Hmm ... I guess that makes sense. I am not sure people ever learn, but you trying, that is worthy of respect." Anik said.

Then she grinned. "Well ..." Similar to before, she created a little bit of water in her hand, then sprinkled it into Shana's direction. "Now you have to have an opinion on magic!" she joked.

"Exactly" Dalahar said. "We should leave the clean up to the authorities and keep some distance." He looked down st the corpse for the last time. "This man just painted a target on your back." He gestured that they should leave, head somewhere away from the natives while this was sorted out.
