When Zev read the financial details, a look of utter confusion spread across her face. "What's all this life insurance about? Where I'm from, anyone actually necessary gets brought back, but this doesn't say anything about doing that. What's the point of giving us money if we're still dead." she asked.

Faa considered what he had been told. Scath philosophers had long since debated how Zefar was so dense and tough yet floated away into orbit, surmising it must be a synthetic mineral seeded into the world or that some anomaly occurred thousands of years ago that altered its properties. Whatever the case Zefar streams used to be mined constantly. They streams dried up 80 or so years ago and only the most important of construction or forging could warrant the use of the precious little refined Zefar that remained. He was somewhat doubtful of these Hrem. Whether o not Ella had the authority to offer or even deliver on something of that scale. He was also hesitant to believe they would help after the Scath had already invaded. It was something though. "You'd have to speak with my father about that, i have no authority other than courtesy. I can't order my people or sway them." It left a bitter taste in his mouth to say that, he flicked his tail. He was nothing more than evidence that his fathers line could continue.

"People that are next of kin or depend on someone's income will have something should this person suddenly pass away." She said to Zev.

She turned back to the intercom where people were talking.
"Although this situation puts ourselves in quite a bind. On the one hand it sounds like there's a bad relationship between the Scath and Hrem where Faa is from and our natural instinct is inclined to help them out. On the other hand, the introduction of transdimensionals have possibly made the situation on the home planet more complicated than what the Scath can handle. If the conflict is sorted out, I think it would be best to only temporarily help construct some establishments to help get the Scath and the Hrem into a better relationship. After that, I see no business in returning to Faa's universe. We cannot act as their parental guardian forever, so to speak."

Ella looked over at Sarah and replied; "It allows you to help out. Vigilantism is illegal, after all, and as civilians you'd all be escorted away from a war zone." She then glanced at Shana and, with the channel to Faa open, said: "Let's just not lose sight of our goal here. First priority has to be to stop the fighting. If that can be achieved through what is basically bribery or paying a one-time tribute, so be it. Monetary loss is preferable to loss of life."

"Agreed, Ella. But we must ask Faa as to what they might take."

"That's stupid. Why don't they just get their own jobs?" Zev asked.

"It's all worth a shot. If you can get me close enough to be seen by enough Scath that any with ulterior motives can't act, then you can bring us to negotiation. My father will likely come personally" Faa said. He mulled over the ideas, some deep sense of pride made him think against accepting help for Scathis. They weren't weak, they weren't vulnerable. "We aren't helpless you know? Times are hard for sure but we can stand on our own four feet. Not ruling it out I'm just.....a little annoyed at portraying us that way"

Sarah looked down at her feet as Ella told her that vigilantism was illegal.
"Fair enough, I suppose." she murmured.

Nova cleared her throat and began speaking formally. "Well, I believe that, given the nature of your organization, that it would have tons of information that would be useful for my research. And since I don't really care about money that would only be useful here, I'd just like to be repaid with access to said information."

Ella hummed, and said out loud; "That is something to keep in mind, we must be sure to portray this as us humans paying for peace, not graciously giving aid. That way your father can claim victory, even if there isn't any conquest." - She paused, then said; "What do you think, prince Faa? What price could your father confidently walk home with, showing people his strength with an easy victory against the weak Hrem who paid dearly for peace?"

She looked over at Nova with a thoughtful expression as she asked; "Well, we can often pay people in other currency than our own, but what are you researching?"

In orbit around the Moon...
The void of space was suddenly disturbed as a huge rift was torn in space, and through it the mighty frigate floated. The bounty hunter stood on the bridge and watched the blue planet in the distance. She ordered the ship to settle in an orbit around the Moon while passive scans were activated. She wanted to know what she was dealing with, before she made any further approach.

An hour or so of scanning told her that this was a well-developed planet, but that they did not have any real space traffic. That complicated things, as she couldn't fly her frigate into orbit without being noticed - if she hadn't been so already. But the shuttle might be able to slip past, it's small enough that it could be mistaken for a piece of junk if I'm running cold.

"That's not what I meant. It's horrible that my people are killing yours. It's shouldn't be happening but its all because of me." Faa was distraught by what seemed like an accusation. "Scath are dying too and I just want it to stop. I can advise you on how to proceed but I have little control over how things play out"

Ella shook her head and quickly replied; "You misunderstand, I am not blaming you. Honour and appearance of strength are important to your people, but far less so for mine. We can use that, to build the image that your father returns a triumphant war hero, while in actuality we pay him to leave us alone."

"That question could go anywhere, Zev, depending on who is the dependent of the person who died. I mean the obvious example is children, since most of them don't have a paid job and they're dependent on their parents. Anyways, I'm getting sidetracked."

"I'm researching the event that results in large numbers of people getting torn from their own dimension and deposited into another. This is the only dimension recorded to have two separate instances of the Event occurring. So I couldn't ignore the opportunity to come and collect information myself." Nova explained.

"Oh. I see." Faa exclaimed partially before responding "It seems good to me, only time will tell how things go. As I said I can't speak for my father"
Faa felt rather useless. Given of flame, prince of Scathis, yet he had no means to influence what was to
Come.

"This has happened before?" Reinhardt asked Nova, then looked to Emma and Sarah. "I've been doing this for a long time. And as much as I enjoy a fight, I would place diplomacy and helping people above all else. Is there some plan to achieve this?"

With a hint of a smile, or possibly a grimace, Ella replied: "Well, the first anomaly was slightly more than a decade ago. But this is not the second anomaly we've had, there have been others over the years. This is probably the largest, aside from the initial one. I'll have to talk to my superiors about what information we have, and what we can give out. Hey, we could maybe do a research exchange. I'm sure the scientists here on Earth would be happy to have more information about why things like this happen." She then turned to Reinhardt and Sarah, saying; "That's exactly what we're trying to do. We are figuring out what kind of diplomacy should be used, and what we have to pay in order to get peace. They are here for war, it is our job to convince that it isn't worth it. Sticks or carrots, whatever works and saves lives."

Nova shrugged and replied, "Not like my research is classified, so sure, why not? I'm up for a trade."

Having finished reading the documents, Cybil very quickly gave Nova and Sylvia the layman's explanation to get them to understand everything.

"That's awfully noble of you, to do so without gain." Faa said "surely you don't speak for every Hrem on this planet, they will want vengeance "
