Ella sighed and replied; "Yes, a lot of people will want vengeance. Some will even start to yell about removing all extradimensional people from the planet. But not everyone is involved with this, so far your people have only invaded a single nation. That nation, South Africa, does not want war. We might not gain anything from paying your people for peace, but we'd lose a lot more if we had war."

She then glanced at Nova and nodded, saying; "We'll have to work out the details later."

"You should be. Why did you do that?" Candace asked.

Skyranger
"Diplomacy is not my strong suit. But if they want a war, someone will try hurting civilians. I would like to offer my services as a protector."

 

[Vakra jal]

"I still don't understand why this has happened. How did we get our army here, why the aggression? Something seems to have gone horribly wrong. I am very worried about what's happening, deeply worried." He sighed "I just hope I can help get this all resolved, find a way for us to make it up to you"

 

[Silence]

Which apparently worked."[/color] Dala explained. [color=e50000]"Did not want to shake you with my foot."[/color]

[color=99d039]"I'm glad you have a plan."[/color]

 

[Slenn]

"It could have been completely by accident." Shana said to Faa. "A portal could have appeared spontaneously, and someone from your world seized an opportunity. And seeing as how this world has connected more than once with another universe, I don't think it's unlikely that it was made by any sentient body."

"Speaking of which. Apparently this is something that has occurred more than once on my world. It is entirely possible that this world connected to my world twice, if the literature at the public library has shown me anything."

"What's so wrong about that?" Candace asked, heading behind the screen to get dressed.

Skyranger
"Feeling a bit more confident, are we?" Reinhardt asked Sarah.

 

[Silence]

[color=e50000]"Yesterday, you did not really want me to touch anything with my feet.
Is today different?"[/color]

Skyranger

[color=99d039]"Yes. Kind of."[/color] Sarah answered and blushed - although that was not really visible under the make-up.

Candace thought for a moment, then checked her head for any bumps she may have gotten falling out of bed.

"That is good!" Reinhardt chortled.

 

[Silence]

[color=e50000]"Your head seems fine."[/color] Dala stated.

[color=99d039]"Do you have experience in these things?"[/color] Sarah asked Reinhardt.

"We were better off alone" Faa grunts "I don't think are society meshes with others well. I've only seen Hrem or things like them here. I guess we are just too different"

"A doctor too now, are we?" Candace asked.

Skyranger
"I've been doing this for years, I LIVE for it!" Reinhardt told Sarah, seeming quite giddy.

"Well, here are the series of events as we understand them. At some point you get kidnapped by some shadowy human organisation. Later on, a portal is opened to your world in South Africa, but we were unable to pin-point the portal's location. Somebody had to have been hiding it from us. After a significant force, probably more than two thousand, Scath enter our dimension we get a lock on the portal. The Scath force first scouts the area around the portal, then travels north towards Johannesburg. By now we know there is an army of extradimensionals, and a squad of XPOL troopers are sent out to shut down the portal while the troops stationed in Johannesburg muster." Ella paused, looking around before continuing; "The squad sent to close the portal is forced back - further Scath troops have firmly secured a perimeter. Meanwhile, a dangerous confrontation ensues in the outskirts of Johannesburg. The Scath leader claimed that our 'callous threats of invasion had been met in kind.', that Johannesburg was now the territory of Scathis and that Prince Faa should be returned immediately. The XPOL agent in the city attempted to negotiate and he judged that he was perhaps managing to de-escalate the situation." She sighed sadly; "But then disaster struck. Somebody opened fire on the Scath forces, a rapid and accurate salvo that took out one of the leader's companions. Before we knew what was happening, the Scath vanguard attacked and tore through the defending force despite being severely outnumbered. After a while they pulled back, and the main Scath force attacked. Estimates put the vanguard at a few hundred, the rest at maybe two thousand. The main force was significantly less well-armed and armoured, so they took far more casualties. After a while, they pulled back and retreated with their wounded to the portal zone. It is possible that if they had kept going, they could have taken the city right there. Now there are many more Scath gathering at their portal, and the South African military has fully mobilized and is gathering at Johannesburg and a city directly west of the portal."

"The Y'rek'd fought, as well as the Yok?" Faa exclaimed "That's serious, the fact that father has commited the Y'rek'd and such a force of Yok too." Faa flicks his tail, making a dull thud in the sky ranger

 

[Silence]

[color=e50000]"Well, back on the world of the mouse-people, I learned some things about medicine ..."[/color] Dala started telling, in an ironic tone of voice.

[color=99d039]"You ... you do what exactly?"[/color]

"Mouse people?" Candace asked, the irony lost on her.

Skyranger
"Jetting around the world, helping people. I've been doing it for ages. It's my life's calling."

Faa remained silent for a time, digesting the information Ella and Shana had told him. Faa felt like he had to do something, something more than what he was cutrently doing. On a whim a group of Hrem had essentially joined up to go fix the problem. Faa still had a problem, he didn't fully trust Ella and from the way she spoke she seemed to know her way around a diplomatic situation as well as a militairy one. She could be using honeyed words to make it seem less obvious but Faa thought that her interests were obviously on that of her own people rather than himself.

[color=e50000]"Well, more a world of mouse and duck, and other animal-people. It was pretty close to earth, but some cities were different, and all people looked a bit like animals.
And there was one city, split in two parts: In one part, mostly duck people lived, and in the other part mostly mouse people."[/color]

[color=99d039]"That's cool! I've only helped people in my city, by ... I mean, I was just limited to it. Otherwise there is so much to do, you don't even know where to start!"[/color]

Candace listened, interested, and wondering what the view on hunting was in a world of animal people.

Skyranger
"You stood up to help people. That is what counts. The scale doesn't matter." Reinhardt reassured her.

 

[Slenn]

"Reinhardt is right. There's a tenet in our Nuclear Winter Clan that states: 'Heroics are good, but only if you are capable of doing so. There's no shame in saying you're unable to do something.' It's best not to overwhelm yourself."

Reinhardt looked to Shana. "You do heroics too, ja?"
