Skyranger
Faa shook his head and sat up when he heard Ella's voice from the inside of the plane. "Yes....yes of course" he said you could always surrender he mused to himself to try and lighten his mood. He began searching the interior of the sky ranger for the microphone or device that would allow him to speak. Upon finding or being directed to it he would begin."My homeworld is ruled as a planetary kingdom. A king at the top who allows 5 Barons to rule each section of the world. Barons have power of law in their own fiefdom as long as it does not go against the Kings law. More importantly Barons are able to express discontent at the rule of the current King. The word King is a poor substitute in this language, I would use a closer word but it has negative connotations in this language." He paused while he thought of the next part that he would say. "Tyrant, one who rules through power. A more apt but unfair translation at least. If the Barons perceive weakness than can push the King, to make sure his resolve is steady.and that he is indeed still powerful." He paused again, this time due to how the next part was hard to admit. "Scathis is in dire times currently. Ever since the meeting of the Hrem and bartering of their technology 15 years ago things have been bad. There are no resources on Scathis. The precious metals orbit the planet, having drifted up there long before I was born. Food shortages, poverty. We bartered away 45% of out worker caste in return for technology that still remains poorly implemented and integrated today. Scath society is torn apart between old and new." He felt awful. Admitting how poorly his own people faired on their own world, such a shame. "Even if my father didn't want war he would have it, otherwise the barons would turn on him. Father has likely used my disappearance as an excuse to unite Scathis, to desperately hold on to the last of his power. Unfortunately the spoils of a successful conquest would greatly benefit us Scath right now.......father has trapped himself between two decisions and each of them is bad. This war could end with my return, sparing expensive militairy units and lives but likely costing him his position or he continues to remain hostile and aggressive due to the expense of the invasion and the threat of coming home with nothing to show for it." He paused for the final time "I'm likely secondary at this point, something to be gained in addition, if its not too much trouble"
