"Maybe we should find out, at some point"

, Kuki suggested, now slightly curious about what would happen if tea was smoked.

When Anik returned with the water poured over in a breakfast bowl, Kuki looked up to it.

"Yes, that'll do!"

Kuki then picked up the capsule they retrieved with their mouth, and stepped over to the bowl once it was placed down. Dropping the capsule in it, they waited for it to dissolve.

"Anyway, yes, I can drink water, Anik. It's found on my planet, too. I don't need it for drinking now, though. Just to make my food with."

 

[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 2nd, 2025
- Hotel -​

"Your food?" Anik asked, "What do you eat? And can feel your fluffy hair a bit more? ... uh, sorry, this is probably not the time."

She was really curious about the food, and found it somehow cute imagining how Kuki prepared his breakfast.

 

[Chungus]

"Uhh... not now, no. I guess it would be fine for a bit once i'm done, though!"

Kuki answered, not really understanding why Anik liked their fur so much.

"Anyway, normally, I eat organisms found underground, near the roots of plants. It doesn't have a word, in this language. But since they wouldn't be found on other planets, I've taken a couple of nutrient packs with me, which has various kinds of it in powdered form. Having the supply will give me some time to adjust my gastric track for the food found here!"

With the capsule dissolved, the water took on a light grey colour, and pulpy texture. Kuki moved over to the bowl, and opened their mouth, and had something resembling a tubular tongue with a small orifice at the tip extended from it. Kuki stuck this tongue-like organ into the pulp, and began drinking through the organ, making it swell up, and shrink back to original size as they did.

"Nice!" Anik said happily. "And that's fair I guess. I need to eat the food here, too, because I can't hunt it myself."

That was, when Fernand finally arrived. He greeted Anik and the others, and sat down next to her, declining breakfast as he already had some. He looked at Kuki curiously, saying "Ew." before apologizing.

Anik was confused by this, and let Fernand explain to her what Kuki was doing, but it did not get much of a reaction out of her, as she didn't really find it disgusting, just interesting how different species ate.

Dalahar would miss his legion, his brothers. Even during the rebellion, even as he knew that he and his brothers walked a road of damnation. He didn't have to tell Ella the details or any of them for that matter. Without context, without any knowledge of what he'd been trough or what it meant to be astartes. He felt they would reject him, send him away. He didn't want that. So he would just let the past be the past. "Always wondered what is happening to my brothers right now? How the rebellion goes. Not that it matters." He sighed "we are designed dependant you know? Hard wired mentally to be pack animals. An astartes is st home in his legion, takes comfort in seeing others like themselves. Sharing the honour and glory of combat. True brotherhood forged in the flames of battle"

 

[Chungus]

As Fernand sat down at the table and ew'd them, Kuki stopped eating, and looked to him, slightly offended. Once Fernand apologised, however, Kuki continued eating, saying,

"apology accepted."

As the voice was coming from the speaker, they could eat and talk at the same time.

"That's right. I breathe through my mouth, so I can't stick food in there like you do"

, Kuki added as Fernand explained their way of feeding to Anik.

"Anyway, what's on the agenda, today? Does anyone have any plans?"

If he was fairly knowledgeable about Canadian laws, Fernand might be able to inform Anik that, while regulated to prevent issues with animal populations, hunting was legal in Quebec.

Viyang would greet Anik and Candace when they arrived. They might note Viyang was eating more than what would make up a typical breakfast.

- Hotel -​

"Unless we find out more about the burning men, I would say we start the sightseeing tour you wanted to do." Anik said.
"Umm ... I could tell you a little bit about that, but I'm no professional sightseeing guide. You might want to get one, too." Fernand chimed in, after also having explained that Anik could maybe hunt. Although he had no idea how Anik would actually do something like that. "And I would probably be too busy with describing everything to Anik anyways ..."

Anik smiled to him, which made him more uncomfortable. "So, what would you say?" she asked the others. She was not too worried about Viyang eating much, as she herself ate quite the big breakfast, and was still busy with it, not eating very fast.

 

[Chungus]

"I'd like to go sightseeing. Especially the biodome! If it is what I think it is, there should be loads of organisms to study, there!"

Kuki suggested.

"On an unrelated note, though; Who is the leader of this fellowship?"

 

[Vakra jal]

Dalahar wondered what rhe others were up to. His autosenses picking up movement and noises from a room nearby. He takes some steps over to the window and crouched down to look iim, seeing everyone having breakfast

 

[Kirke]

Ella nodded in silence, sympathising with Dalahar even though she couldn't really put herself in his position. "Do you want to go back there? You will have that option, eventually."

 

[ShindoL Shill]

Viyang spotted Dalahar's form through the window and, having finished what was effectively her lunch, headed outside. [color=663399]"The others are discussing what to do today. It seems they want to see the local sights."[/color] Viyang informed Ella and Dalahar.

On a small television in the hotel, showing the morning news, the rest of the group might notice a report being made on an explosion which had occurred during rush hour traffic.

Previous Day

Nina began looking utterly exhausted by the time the group had made it to the hotel, seeming relieved once she was back indoors. Since everyone else was doubling up, Nina took a room for herself. Once in her room, she just collapsed on the bed and slept.

Overnight, several of the hotel employees would find themselves feeling woozy and a bit more tired than usual.

Current Day

Nina didn't stir from her room, and showed no signs of doing so until someone came by to wake her.

Candace sat back sipping her tea as the others talked among themselves, watching. She looked to Kuki as he asked who the leader was. "Well, I am the one here with the noblest blood." she answered him.

 

[Vakra jal]

As he was joined by Viyang he said "I'd happily go along with everyone, just to keep them safe"
To Ella he said "it's okay. Nobody but astartes should mourn astartes" this was very bitter as he said it "If I could go back, I'd not be able to just jump back in" he looked away "what I did. It's left a mark"

Anik laughed. "Nobility does mean nothing here. And - no offense - you did not do much leading yet, aside from complaining about having no butlers.

I'm not sure, I could do it, though. I'm blind, and I had other plans. But I have led a little, before."

Fernand, not feeling like he should argue about this, watched the television broadcast instead, having heard, and even seen the clean-up of the burning man incident. As soon as he thought something was noteworthy, he relayed it to Anik.

 

[Chungus]

"Noble blood, really?"

Kuki questioned. The concept of aristocracy completely lost on them, Kuki assumed this definition of noble to be similar like one that would be applied to certain elements. With this in mind, Kuki stopped what they were doing, and started analysing Candace's physiology.

Kuki couldn't see the report on the Tv, but picked up on the audio of it. They didn't think much on it, at first, until Fernand began relaying it to Anik, whereupon they began paying more attention, but kept analysing Candace, for now.

 

[Kirke]

Ella frowned and said to Dalahar; "We'll have to continue this conversation later." She then told Viyang that she'd follow the others and excused herself; "If we're heading out soon, I need to get my armour. I'll be back in a bit." Heading inside, Ella noticed the news report about an explosion. "Merde..." - She muttered, having a bad feeling that it was related to the burning man.

From a medical standpoint, Candace was an entirely normal human save for her albinism. She looked to Anik. "There is a reason aristocrats lead."

Because not only aristocrats are able to ruin the country."
