, Kuki responded, disappointed, speaking a bit more slowly. They had hoped to learn more about Anik's altered physiology.

"That's a shame, but I can understand it."

Kuki perked up quickly after speaking.

"I'd like to know those other things, though. Sure! But, isn't your strength and stamina tied to how you changed?"

 

[Kirke]

Ella sighed, then said; "Fine, just don't antagonize them too much. We got enough troubles to worry about without them running around shouting about how unfairly they're being treated." Then she walked forward and knocked on the door, or rang the doorbell if there was one.

 

[ShindoL Shill]

The door would open slightly, and a human face would peek out. "What do you lot want?" the woman behind the door asked, suspiciously.

 

[Kirke]

Ella held her arm out so the tattoo was clearly visible, saying; "Greetings ma'am, I am agent Ella Beckers of XPOL. I am part of an investigation about the murder of a member of Earth First. May I ask a few questions?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"You mean the one that got hacked apart and set on fire over at the port? Yeah, you can ask about him." the woman responded, a little irritably.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Candace stayed behind Ella, but tried to remain out of sight of the door slit to avoid spooking anyone.

 

[Slenn]

Shana's gaze wasn't threatening as the person spoke, but it was half-lid and looked as if she was intensely focusing on the moment. Her breaths were controlled and slow.

 

[Kirke]

"Thank you. First question; are tattoos common among Earth First members?"

 

[ShindoL Shill]

"Tattoos? Not massively, but a new member is a tattoo artist, so..." Shana might note that the woman glared in her direction every so often, though she didn't seem to care much about Candace.

 

[Kirke]

Ella raised an eyebrow, though otherwise kept her face blank. "I see. I'd like to meet this tattoo artist, but first I have one other question. The Earth First pins, do you know who makes them?"

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Candace returned the look, but didn't comment.

 

[ShindoL Shill]

The woman scribbled down an address on a notepad, then handed it to Ella. "If it helps you find out what happened, here you go. And I don't know who makes the pins."

 

[Kirke]

Ella accepted the note, then nodded to the woman. "Thank you for your cooperation. With that she turned and began walking away. While walking, she copied the address onto her phone's GPS. She then looked at the others."Not terribly fruitful, but we do have another lead. A tattoo artist connected to Earth First. A new member, no less."

 

[Silence]

"No, at least the stamina is not per se. The strength is part that, part the blessing I got." She stopped, let go of Fernand, put Kuki into his hands, and started taking off her coat.

"What are you doing?" he asked, very confused.

"Showing off the scars I got." she said, and undressed enough so that the three wavy lines on her arm were visible. "That is a blessing of the got Faotar. It makes me a lot stronger." she explained. "I could show you the infinite knot symbol on my sternum too, that makes me endure a lot more."

"No, stop that." Fernand said, his face red.

 

[Slenn]

"Ah, very good!" She said, her face lighting up a bit.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"So, now we go after this "artist"?" Candace asked.

 

[Kirke]

"Yup. It's not much to go on, but it's something." - Ella replied as she walked off towards the address she'd been given.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Candace followed Ella. "I nver understood these kinds of people..."

 

[Slenn]

"They are merely trying to protect what matters most to them." She said to Candace, bringing her arm sleeves together like a monk. "They are afraid of Earth being overrun."

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"...I meant the people that get tattoos." Candace replied to Shana. "As ugly as these "Earth First" people are, I can understand wanting to protect your home and that desire driving one to extremes. I've seen it everywhere in my homeland, I regret to say."
