"What are you talking about?" the man asked Anik. "It's probably just this shitty restaurant." He then turned and snapped at Candace, "Who asked you?"

- Grill Restaurant -​

In the attempt to not anger the man again, Anik said: "Alright. I guess you're right."

That said, she turned to the others: "I think it's best we leave him alone. I would ... go, buy some grass, and we can meet outside of this restaurant, or back at the port again."

She asked Shana to provide her with some money (actually enough money to buy the grass and a cheap mobile phone), then started walking to the exit, unfolding her cane again, and clicking, but still listening and smelling if the situation got worse again.

"Sorry sir. I just wanted to make sure you were well."

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 1st. -Outside of Grill Restaurant -​

Having surveyed their surroundings, the critter started moving around in a quick pace, moving in a serpentine pattern, until they got close to a lamppost, when it continued in a straight line towards it, and stopped next to it. There, they looked around more, a short glance up to the sky, then back down to street level, looking over the people moving around, then up to the sky once more. They moved to two other spots, near the wall of a building, then near a parked car, repeating its observation pattern at each stop.

Yuri, who had been wandering around, had heard the commotion in the restaurant and had walked over to watch for the past little bit.

"You're damn right I'm right." the man commented in response to Anik, however he didn't stop glaring at Candace. "I'm perfectly fine. Maybe you're the one with a problem!" he said, poking Candace in the chest roughly. His fingertip, though not on fire, was warmer than it should be.

- Outside Grill Restaurant -​

Smelling and hearing that the man did not get worse again, Anik decided to leave the Restaurant.

Outside, she started ambling into the direction the waitress had told her was a drug store, sniffing to find it quickly.

Candace drew a sharp breath, about to insult the man, when she caught herself. "Sir, please calm down. And have some ice water perhaps."

 

[Furioso]

Yuri moved closer to the angry man, but didn't jump in.

Outside the port
Ella placed the pin in a pocket for now, and grabbed the datapad. "Thanks. Now, let's see what we have..." She said as she found a frame with a clear view of the man's face. She then ran that through a identification program that tried to match the person against a database of Canadian citizens, using their passport photos. It wasn't unusual for the program to get several hits, however.

"I'm perfectly CALM!" the man yelled, getting uncomfortably close to Candace. The staff were watching silently, wanting to intervene but not wanting to potentially get burnt. Viyang began casting a fire ward spell, creating a few almost-invisible glyphs in the air between Candace and the hot guy.

Anik would be able to find the store without much difficulty.

Pointe-Saint-Charles, Port

Running the face through facial recognition would bring up a number of results. The second best match found was noted to be a registered member of an Earth First organisation, making him a likely candidate. His name was Alexander McDonald, a Canadian citizen from birth.

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 1st. -Outside of Grill Restaurant -​

Looking at their surroundings, a bit less frantic than they did from earlier positions, the critter observed the behaviour of the pedestrians, although not all that attentively, the critter's eyes moving from one person to the next. Eventually, the critter spotted Yuri moving towards the restaurant. Although they recognised Yuri's appearance didn't quite match that of the rest of the pedestrians, not knowing what was the norm, they didn't realise Yuri wasn't native.

Following Yuri's moment for a moment longer, the critter then spotted Anik leaving the restaurant. They briefly looked up, to the sky, then moved towards the rear end of the car, and looking back down to Anik. They noticed Gash' rock sword, but, again, assumed it belonged.

Candace backed off a little, standing up. "Um... If you insist sir..."

 

[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 1st, 2025
- Downtown -​

Walking along the street, Anik smelled the store very soon, but she also smelled something else, something very strange to her. Several distinct smells near the street. Mostly things she never smelled before.

Anik stopped for a second, and clicked, but found nothing with the limits her echolocation had. She then said, not too loud: "Is there another traveler here? Show yourself. I can smell you."

She hoped it was not just her imagination playing tricks on her, and prepared herself to keep on walking and forget about the smell.

 

[Furioso]

Yuri was unsure of what to do, not wanting to risk tackling the hothead, but wanting to intervene in some way. He was, however, distracted by Anik. He turned to look in her direction. "Another traveler? Well that would be me... do other travelers have a distinct smell or is it just me?" he asked, not sounding offended.

 

[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 1st, 2025
- Downtown -​

Anik was confused for a second, being talked at by another man. After a few seconds of thinking, she answered:
"You are a traveler too?
Umm ... sorry, I did not mean you. You smell pretty ... alright, but familiar. I smell something far weirder from there."

She pointed pretty much directly at the alien rodent.

"Anyways, nice to meet you as well. My name is Anik."

Downtown Montreal. March 1st. -Outside of Grill Restaurant-​

Looking at Anik, and just about picking up on her speaking, the critter went over it a couple of times, wondering who she was talking to. They looked between other pedestrians, checking if any of them responded to her call. They saw most did little else other than giving her a look, except for Yuri. Unable to make out the two talking, but curious about it - especially after Anik seened to point to them - the critter hesitated, but decided to move closer.

After casting another glance up to the sky again, the critter moved away from behind the car, and began approaching the two, not stopping to see if there was a car oncoming, unaware of what to look out for in traffic.

Yuri would have gone to shake Anik's hand, but he noticed the blindfold, and instead took a few steps closer so that they wouldn't be talking at an awkward distance.
"Familiar? Huh, well it's nice to meet you Anik. My name is Yuri Lowell. And yea I'm another traveler. So, what's this about a weird smelling thing?" he asked.

Pointe-Saint-Charles, Port
Ella walked over to the police officer and showed her the result. "This might be our man." She pointed to Alexander's profile. She then looked back at the body and said; "As for the method, I suspect magic. I've never even heard of a blastia that could do this, and getting hold of a 'common' one is already very expensive. Still, an autopsy should be made, just in case."

 

[Silence]

- Downtown -​

"Well, you smell like people I have smelled before, kind of. Human. That's why I also did not recognize you as a traveler.
But there's something here ... that smells completely different. Something I have never smelled before, not human or otherwise. It seemed like a thing a traveler from another world would bring."

She shrugged. "But maybe it is nothing. My imagination, or just some animal this world has, but not the ones I know.
...
I was about to buy some things. Would you like to come with? We could talk more, then. Or you could head inside the restaurant, there are some more travelers still inside. I'm meeting with them again, after I have bought my stuff."
