"So you were kidnapped and taken out of the way, so someone else could be king?"

Portal Station, Some Time After XPOL Left

Yauna approached the portal and attempted to pass through it. If that weren't possible, she would try calling out to Blue.

 

[Vakra jal]

"I don't know for sure. Father isn't due to step down yet." The volume decreased on his collar as he hummed "The shame, fo lose the given of flame right from under his nose. The Feifs will be thirsty for blood now." The volume rose again as he continued "Such poor timing as well"

 

[Silence]

"That is quite unfortunate. But you are free now, aren't you? You can get back to your world in a few days, I think ... if the portal station gets working again."

Yauna was able to pass through the portal, but was greeted by several, quite alert, guards and mages.

Blue - or rather, her illusion, made a sign to them to step down. "Greetings." she said. "Did you learn something new?"

Other Side of the Portal

"Most of the people involved in the attack, including Dala, are at a hotel in Montreal. They don't seem to be planning anything else, for now." Yauna replied. "I don't have a location for Anik yet, but I might be able to locate her if you have something of hers. And, if we do find her, I can set up away to instantly bring her back here."

 

[Silence]

"That's good, and that would be convenient as well.
How old can the thing be that was in her possession?"

"It just needs to be something that has some connection to her. Hair or another body part is best but if you have some of her old clothes that should do. Even just a painting of her would do, in fact." Yauna replied.

 

[Vakra jal]

"I bloody hope so. I get the feeling that whatever took me won't let it rest like this. I don't feel safe. I know that sounds weird when you look at me but my appearance is far scarier than I actually am" he explained

 

[Silence]

"That should not be hard to find." Blue said. "After all, she lived here.
Just takes some time to search for her old things."

She called over a guard, and told him to bring him old stuff Anik had.

"Can you create some kind of teleportation spell?" she asked Yauna, after.

[hr]

"You don't look too bad, we have seen far scarier things - at least on TV.
You might want to get in contact with XPOL - these guys." the guard said, pointing at the XPOL agents who had come out of the building. "They maybe can provide protection."

 

[Vakra jal]

"I think I'll just rest here for now." He hummed while he scratched the areas of his legs had been shackled. "Far too tired for anything right now"

"Magic is certainly the way of learned men - or women. I know most of the travelers meet in a hotel, but I don't know where that is. It's not my field of responsibility.
But I think you will sooner or later meet some of them. I saw a dragon run past me, just an hour ago!"

"That is fine." the guard said.
A truck with a fair amount of raw meat arrived soon after.

"You can eat some of that. But it's ... more or less emergency rations, so once you have eaten, you should find a new place to stay, sleep and eat. Maybe on Ile Bizard, lots of international travelers there. I can give you the number ... I mean I can call some people who might be better suited to help you further."

 

[Vakra jal]

"Such kindness" he muttered without the collar. He hummed, speaking through the collar this time "I greatly appreciate this." He drags himself to his feet to pad over to the meat, he was so weak, it must have been days he had been gone. He just needed to stop feeling so sick and empty.

Other Side of the Portal

Yauna paused, thinking silently for a few moments, before saying, "In a manner of speaking, I suppose. The spell will allow us, and Anik, to traverse the planes of reality. In other words, we go from where Anik is, to here. So it's sort of like creating an interdimensional portal."

 

[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 6th, 2025

Early Morning​

"We have a good system in place now, for occurences like this." the guard said, with some pride. "I will call the counselor, let's see if she has an idea what to do with you."

With that, he called Lambda.

- Throne Room -
Morning​

"Ah, I understand. This is quite useful." Blue said.

After a short bit of time, a servant brought them rich, purple clothes. "These belonged to Anik. You can do your ritual with them."

Other Side of the Portal

After taking the clothes, Yauna said, "These should work. Now, I'll also need a silver mirror to actually cast the spell, and I need it brought to the other side of the portal."

After eating his fill, a substantial amount, Faa curls up on the floor feeling much better and calmer now. When he thought about it this was a good chance to be away from the capital. He'd never travelled far alone, he was sure he was just worrying himself. Everyrhing would be fine, he could sate some wanderlust and learn a few things. He could turn this to his advantage to return as an even better future ruler.

 

[Silence]

"Should not be a problem." Blue said. "Just keep in mind, there are cameras back there."

She told the servant to bring them a silver mirror from the storage.

Portal Station

Yauna would go through with the servant and sit down in front of the mirror, chanting quietly. After around ten minutes, the mirror began changing, no longer reflecting Yauna. Instead, it now displayed Anik and the area where she was, with a three metre radius.

Zevrisya sat down next to Faa, tapping her cane on the floor idly.

Lambda, resting at home in bed, groaned as she heard the phone but dutifully answered it anyway. "Yes?" She asked, sounding tired.
