Hmm, I wish they taught advanced IT as atleast an elective when I went to school. They still don't according to some people.

I heard a rumour at one point that they were going to bring survival skills into the school curriculum. I reckon that would be an awesome subject to learn (they never did teach us how to make a fire with only two sticks in scouts).

Ethics and Theory of Knowledge (though IBO fails at it and even I could do it better) and Religious Studies.

I had one chick seriously ask what morals are. Seriously. The last one is cause I am sick of people not knowing anything about any religion other than their own or any one at all and making really fucking stupid comments about em.

Guitar class open to anyone. Honestly, why do I need to join a CAPA class like Creative Writing (which I do enjoy, but that is beside the point) to learn how to play this 6-stringed beauty besides blindly playing until I get good, internet tabs of ass, or paying some twat to have me play a scale and a blues riff for an hour and nothing else?

Either this, or I'd like to have psychology or philosophy as a subject.
Psychology would be awesome, but I doubt most kids would appreciate it.
We have both a psych and philosophy classes at my high school. It's a public school to not private or even in an upper class area, it really depends on the degrees the teachers there have.

As for me, I nominate Circus Arts to be brought into mainstream education!

No, seriously.
My school had required circus arts, to this day I can juggle four balls three clubs and do a handstand :D
hurraaaay!

I was made to do Circus Skills in my old school too, but it wasn't mainstream... now its my greatest passion, and I hope to do it professionally XD
Huh, really?
How well do you juggle?
Enough to cause a few "ooh's" here and there... :p

I mostly do diabolo and devil sticks, but I can also do clubs, knives, balls, little bit of contact juggling, poi and staff :p
Ah cool, I also like diabolo better than juggling (though passing clubs is great). I'm working on two diabolos at once right now.

Survival skills and martial arts would be fucking awesome, and I'd love to do gymnastics in PE, but without those stupid tights, I'd kill myself before wearing that.

I hate this weak crap we do in religion and english, spirituality and analysing stories/creative writing is bullshit. Not just because I'm an atheist and a philistine, but because it's completely fucking useless. If studying jewish assimilation into Brisbane society or Shakespeare ever helps me in my future life, I will eat a jar of razor blades and wash it down with lemon juice. We need more real world stuff in our schools.

High school history should be optional, as should geography and English, music should be entirely optional for the duration of school. There should be more sport (specifically team sport, it's important to learn how to function in a team) for younger students, as well as specific science maths classes for younger students (at the very least separate biology class from physics class for juniors, it's quite common to hate one and love the other, we rarely want to waste our time with both).

Things like food tech (hell, technology subjects in general are greatly under represented in Victorian schools) should probably be given more attention, I was lucky in that the high school I went to had good facilities, however we spent very little time using them, perhaps more opportunities to use them (without forcing it upon us) would be good.

Ultimately, it's important not to force children to do things, everyone has different goals and ambitions. I remember being particularly annoyed that there was a mandatory unit on the renaissance when I was in high school (year 8 if I recall), especially because I was completely uninterested in the arts and ultimately got nothing from it, my time would've been better spent doing specialised mathematics, and given the choice that's what I'd have done.

Interactive Sex-Ed.

Hey, if you're gonna be telling them it's a-okay to fuck whenever they want to, might as well teach 'em how it's done!
well... I guess it would be useful to get people to know which way you put a condom on... :p
Hey if the ***** is on the pill then who needs a condom right... Right... RIGHT?!
