Things required for the vampire game

-moral choice systems that offer a middle ground(or several)
-a quest for acceptance with the humans, and the struggle against a blood addiction.
-a moment in the game where you walk through a hall of burning holy relics to save the one you love.
-nuclear powered stakes
-a sparkling vampire you can impale with said stake
-giant robotic garlic cloves
-areas cut off by running water.
-a machine gun for the stakes

that is all i want
Love the first three, forth is amazingly awesome as long as there are some wicked jumps, good work on the fifth fuck that sparkly vampire with a stake right up the ass, the last three... mmm... bit of a flop...

Escapists; with the idea of a game where a vampire is the mc, and he is evil, can I ask if anyone has ideas for a possible working title?

The idea of a vampire RPG sounds terrible. The Escapist I thought so much more of you, I figured you'd, you know, have an interesting or original idea or any any rate not basically want to make "Twilight the RPG". With so many options available why latch onto vampires which are so boring, over done in every medium, and restrictive?

I thought this topic was about one of those "Forum Projects" that almost every forum tries to get together that invariably fails and despite knowing it'd fail, I would have tossed up the fact that I dabble somewhat in 3D modeling for it.
I so hope they are contemplating propper Blade/Underworld vampires not Twilight emo kid stalker vampires.

Thats the whole point. Revive the vampire genre from the dead, as it were.

Vampires. The main story is based around the fact that you are a vampire. And it's Bethesda-style sandbox.
So Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodline mixed with Oblivion/Fallout 3 ? Sounds good to me.

OT:Should be open ended.

Both are stupid. Holy fuck "Steampunk vampires"? This...this is painful to read, but it's like a trainwreck in that I can't stop.
Then why try let us frolic in our special needs failiure of a plan.

ooh me like. Although maybe some of the more oddball ideas (giant robotic garlic cloves?) are best left out.
I'd like to have a clan, and ways of interacting with it. Eg if I want to punish a member, I can pick him up by the neck and throw him into an area of sunlight. Your clan or... even better, your coven, lives in the network of sewers and cave systems beneath the city.

Hmm EDIT: actually no, me no like. Quest for acceptance and struggle with blood addiction? No. Not Twilight the game. You are a stone cold killer. If you deal with humans you are manipulating them into your traps and fuel your bloodlust without any worries. At least, to start with. Perhaps a central character gradually helps you change... but enough of this, I have a game to write.
dammit you're right. Too much twilight.

but if the game is set in the future, and vampires are everywhere, a nuclear powered stake might just come along.

I was happy because I thought you wanted an able hand to ACTUALLY take part in making a game, now im sad :(
do you have experience with creating games?

- i'm only a gaming student, and i've only made some RPG/FPS/Game Maker(easy programs) games and recently some Flash games (i'm going to start on 3D games next semester), but i can tell you: it's damn hard work! :O
Ive done coding in C++ and C# and I have experience in 3ds Max and Mapzone (Procedural Texture Creator). Basically, I cover bases :p I had made a FPS engine with some models and textures, however I had to prioritize school life and the project died.
ah, ok, then you know how much effort it takes to make even a simple game/engine :p

i was curious, because a lot of people think; "i like games, so why not make one myself? shouldn't be so hard..." - good to hear that you know what you're talking about ;P

Throwing a random mish-mash of stupid already done ideas against a wall and hoping something sticks and doesn't turn into a congealed mess that attracts flies and maggots isn't, and wouldn't "revive" a genre. The "vampire genre" (I wasn't even aware it was a genre of it's own? Does frankestien have his own genre? What about mummies?) doesn't even need to be revived since there are many popular franchises that are very much alive.
A) So vampires aren't a 'genre.' I can't really be asked to bother finding a term that perfectly encompasses the use of all vampires in all forms of fiction.
B)Where have I thrown random ideas against a wall and hoped that something sticks? Stop trolling and either contribute something useful yourself or just leave.

Hah it's alot more efficent, if for example we were to make the escapist game to do it in a pre-built engine rather than creating one from scratch, as refine-ing and making a good engine takes a LOT of time, I would assume we would take up SOURCE SDK or the Unreal UDK if we were to create a game :p.

A step above game makers, and a step below coding :)

Throw all pretensions to realism out the window. Make it be a goofy, over the top, funfest that doesn't hold itself to the stupid, modern-day realism, make it be like Serious Sam rather than the stupid "war is hell" bullshit Niko Bellic and Marcus Fenix have.

Or, make it an artsy game. I have no problem with that if it's good.

that would be the best way to do it indeed, but we would really need people who can devote themselves to a project to do that, starting with a good idea and then quitting after 3 months is not my style ;]

P.S. i am a Designer/Programmer, nice to meet ya :p
