Crysis is another reason people don't buy PCs. They think it's the status quo of PC games, when really it's just an outstanding example of what PCs can do. Also I think people fear the controls, but I use a wired 360 controller instead of a mouse(it's just my preference get off my back) and a key board isn't that daunting

ok eggo has a point on if you don't know about PCs than stay out, or explain why you find it frightening.

Also you can have a $800 one and it'll run quite a few games well.

Console gaming has been around since the 80s. A PC must be updated, and it costs money to do that. The Alienware ALX at original price cannot play the 81 fps Crysis without the PC itself of being choppy. Consoles will never die out. Besides, the PS3 was the first console to get the cell processor, and not a home computer. Blu-ray will probably be the set standard for next generation consoles, or some other type of playable disk media. The fact is that no matter what you say, PC games can be pricey, and they can be choppy without the minimum requirements on the PC. Laptops are another thing. They are portable, but the problem is that in order to upgrade it, you have to send it to the company that you bought it from (unless you know how to open the laptop) to upgrade it.

Many people like console games than they do PC games because some of the console games never leave that market such as when the symbol on the xbox 360 games front [Only on the Xbox], and sometimes that later becomes a lie because the same game comes out for another console about 1 year later or sometimes shorter.

Consoles will obviously sell more games, but MMO's are starting to take over the PC world, and I don't know what is taking over the console war, except that the fact is that you can now download games from the PSN or XLA. For some people, such as me, I don't have the money to buy an expensive gaming PC that must be upgraded every 3 years or so.

Build your own. Noob.

The trend here is that the 4 big consoles (i'm including PC's in the console count, because in this thread that is how they are being treated) are going to converge in a couple more generations and threads like this are never going to happen again. Ever. The divide is going to be things you leave at home and hand-helds. It's just plain stupid to think that if MMO's really become the unrivaled market for gamers that console producers wouldn't make an adjustment.

As for the graphics "Uncanny Valley," fuck graphics. Some of the best games ever made have terrible graphics. I'm sure everyone can think of a game they played from earlier generations that they like a lot more than games from the current generation.

I think it's hilarious that so many people are terrified of Crysis when it actually doesn't call for computer hardware that costs, for building a complete system, more than $1000.

If one doesn't know what a Q6600 or an 8800GT is, then it would be very wise for them never to talk about Crysis again.
*raises hand awkwardly* Ummm, I don't know what a Q6600 or/and a 8800GT is...can I atleast talk about how if you're upgrading to play Crysis on your PC, it's basically the equivilant of buying a PS3 just for MGS4? (not exactly cost wise, same princaple though).

Besides, PC gaming can be expensive it depends on what you buy and how you treat it (plus subscirptions and other stuff), but if you're smart enough then you can make it cheap, but obviously people make mistakes.

Not really, but kind of. They're a quad processor and a semi-top of the line graphics card. Again, even a "measly" $800 PC can run Crysis on high. You only need bleeding edge hardware if you intend to get the raging e-Erection of playing Crysis on DirectX10 maximum settings with the full bells and whistles.
Try to get your hands on a Crysis demo or borrow a copy to try it out. It's true Crysis packs a big punch on higher settings, but it's also pretty forgiving on the lowers.

Disagree.. his opinions are exaggerated based on a few points, and he leaves out a bunch of other reasons why consoles games sell better than PC games.

Price Point.

Ease of use.

A Standard.(That instead of creating a game for 2 million different kinds of PC's with hundreds of different components, a publisher can create a game based to work on one set of hardware and one set of hardware only. Easier for the consumer too because they don't have to worry whether their PC can play the game because its on the console.)

Online Ease of use.(Hooking a 360 up to the internet is a hell of a lot easier than running most online games on PC. I.E. Firewalls,Port Forwarding and Patching.)

Online network.(This is possible on the PC too, the only problem is that there is no firm base that all PC's run on related to gaming, with the exception of Steam. Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network have features that could absolutely not be possible in the same accuracy as the PC. The friends list saying what they're playing, the achievements, Home(if it ever comes out) etc. Some may nay say with Xfire, but Xfire can't do what XBL or PSN can do in the sense of actual control. Xfire isn't required to play, and therefore has a much less effective base.)

Beyond these points it is painfully obvious that Consoles are going to stay, based on his logic. What he said about disabling is right, but also wrong because it makes it seem like piracy Isn't a bad thing.. and yea, surprise, it is. That is the sole reason why Consoles aren't going anywhere, the security and return they give to developers and publishers. Consoles ensure that Piracy won't happen to the same degree. Without Piracy all publishers benefit more from their titles, make more titles, and make more money from both.

And what do those companies care about more than anything?
What is the sole reason they make these games?
Money, and that's what consoles are. Money.

To be honest I prefer PC gaming.... I have a 360 and a Wii yes..but I play them a lot less than anything I play on my PC.

PC's are the future.

Where the hell did the idea come from that before a pc is permitted to run any game whatsoever it must be capable to run that, dare i say, highly de-optimized excuse of a tech demo called crysis on it's max settings at 60fps? Had crytek actualy bothered(or been gived the liberty, i heard they are under quite some of pressure to release C:WH) to optimize the game beyond the point where it runs smooth enough for videos on their company mainframe, the hardware cost to obtain the results above would be about $2500 lower, roughly on par with what you need to run pretty much any other game.
