I don't pay much attention to such things, although I do get excited when I have a new little title below my name. Seems to me that with all the gadgets that allow you to have the internet anywhere, you don't need to have a lot of free time to be able to amass a high number of posts. I just figure the people with really high post counts enjoy the message board thing a lot, enough that it becomes a hobby, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's fun to have discussions with a broad range of people on the internets, especially on a forum that doesn't have too many jerks like the one that attacked poor Sassafrass and others.

I honestly don't know how I got my post count as high as it is. I very rarely post. It's odd.

OT: I like most people with high post counts (I don't worship them), because it means that they've been in this community long enough to say tons of stuff and still haven't been banned. That's impressive. Yes, I know you can make it all up with User Groups and forum games, but most still post tons in normal threads. People like Furburt, Hubilub and Pimppeter2 are a pretty heavy presence on these here forums, so I guess you have to get used to them. They also seem to post quality posts, which is what I judge by, so they're good in my book.

Oh, and Sassafrass, I can't get enough of your Dr. Cox avatars.

I see the people with large post counts and wonder why I am not one of them.

I am jealous.

The only thing that comes to mind is an old saying:
"The flame that burns twice as hot, lasts half as long".
I don't feel any hate towards people with a high post count. I know that one day, they will no longer be here. Just us dim, slow burners...

You know, looking at it in perspective, 6,666 posts in a year is not exactly slow by most standards.
But when it is compared to the people who have been here half a year with 10k or more posts, it is certainly less. I am more of a medium burner. My time will eventually run out. I've already reached the stage where I can't change my avatar.

Let's make one thing clear. It's not the post count that counts. It's the people behind them. Most of you guys are friendly figures who make or break the Escapist experience like any other member. There's nothing wrong with that.

For me, it's not the post count, but the fact that I can see a friendly face again.

I know that the post count doesn't matter, but when I see your giant numbers and then look at my pathetic number, I can't help but think I should contribute more.

Anyone who's been the Screwattack.com, there is a similar issue going on there with a points system, where spammers can climb the ranks fairly quickly and some people just comment without really contributing to get points.

Post count defines your forum activity. As a forum regular, it's expected to have a high post count because you've been here a while and have been posting actively. It's not spam, it's contribution.

My opinion on it is as follows. People with bigger post counts have either been on the site longer or post more often. The only thing that makes them any different than me or others with modest post counts is that they are known better so people generally take more notice of their opinions.

I'm impressed by people with high post counts, and I'm aiming for the Neo myself. There was this one time when I was afraid I'd get put on probation for a comment in the Twilight Video Game newspost, but I thought "Darn it, if I get put on probation because I don't like Twilight I'll eat my hat."

I suppose so, but comparisons to the most extreme cases lack validity in that they aren't standards by which anyone else can be adequately measured. Or something. I'm too tired to make sense!

I've already reached the stage where I can't change my avatar.
I got to that point a couple of months after making this account. It's not really a big deal - I just became comfortable with this one, and people started recognising it. Even if they don't know what it actually is...
Yeah, I just like that old saying... just for pointing out that eventually, all good things come to an end. And I never knew what you avatar is. Is it a Tasmanian Devil? just a little guess...

Yeah, but what about people like Neonbob, Commi and Sas who never get moderated? Surely as long as they keep that up, which they've proved they can do, they could last here indefinitely?
What? wait, I think I understand now...
And I don't think... wait, I've confused myself again...
I've noticed that Neonbob doesn't seem to post a lot nowadays...
Maybe it will end not with a bang, but with a whisper, no?

I don't consider any of the high posters to be spammers. I generally find they've been around the block long enough and usually have something worthwhile to say.

Besides, I dare anyone to call BonsaiK a spammer.

I dunno I look at my post count when I see these people with these insanely high counts... And I wonder. How the HELL do they do that? Then I realize not everyone is an introvert like myself and probably nowhere near as lurk-tastic. I just assume you guys have somethin' to say. Whether it be short and to the point or something long and draw out.
